Pov kidnapper
Trev had contacted the buyers not too long ago, so now we were going even further into the slums to sell the creature.
It was a bad idea to let these types of people know where you sleep after all.
The creature was still in a potato sack, I had to put it over my shoulder which allowed me to feel the razor-sharp legs the creature had. It was a bit uncomfortable, but thankfully the black leather jacket I was wearing stopped them from piercing my skin.
“So, who are these buyers? All you told me was they were big shots.”
I said to Trev once we entered an empty street, which was weird around here, but not impossible to happen. There was a risk of talking in public even if I don’t think anyone would mess around with us considering that we were well known around here, but you could never be too careful in the slums.
Trev had the same caution as me as he looked around.
“I honestly have no clue, but I did hear from a pilgrim that the researchers from the Tower of Eternity have started moving.”
“Wait wait wait, the psychos who combine their bodies with parts from a creature? Why the fuck are we dealing with them?!”
“Psychos is a strong word Mr. Krig, but I guess the common sheep don’t understand greatness.”
Who answered me was not Trev but rather what looked like a man leaning against a wall. His voice was deep and rough. He was very large, inhumanly large. He wore a white cloak that covered his entire body, the golden insignia of a flower was on the front of the cloak where his heart would be.
I am going to ignore the fact that you know my name.
I felt a shiver go down my spine as he walked closer to us.
“I-I am guessing you are the buyer?”
I tried to keep calm.
They weren’t after us, they were after the creature. Right?
“That would be correct Mr. Krig, I am hoping the product isn’t damaged?”
I felt so much smaller once the buyer stood in front of me, he must be 8ft tall. I couldn’t even see under the hood; it was pitch black.
“Yes, but are you sure this is where you want to see it? We aren’t exactly in a private area.”
I looked around, trying to find a single soul on this desolate street.
“You don’t need to worry about that, the ‘residents’ of this area have been… moved in one way or another.”
He spoke with a chuckle.
I am going to strangle Trev after this I swear.
"Ok…. If you say so Mr….?”
I said while carefully placing the sack on the ground.
“Feel free to call me Bane, Mr. Krig.”
Bane said as another person wearing a cloak that was grey suddenly appeared beside Bane, whoever this person was, they were deformed strongly, unlike Bane who still looked like a human if you ignored his since. Yet there were a few similarities between the two of them, I could not see a single detail about either of them.
Just as the other person was about to grab the sac, Trev had to open his stupid mouth.
“Hey- Hey! We haven’t seen the money yet; how do we know you ain’t trying to trick us?”
I hurriedly looked at Trev who spoke suddenly.
Oh, I am so fucking strangling you, you piece of shit.
“Very well then, that is expected. Number 7 show them the gold.”
Bane thankfully didn’t sound displeased whatsoever, rather the person beside him, Number 7, I assume, reached into its cloak and pulled out a fat bag that jingled.
It handed it to me, and I was able to see the claws it had, pitch black and long protruding from a pale arm.
I hurriedly grabbed it, not wanting to be any closer to it.
I almost dropped the bag due to its weight.
Opening it was like a dream, the sun made the golden coins glisten beautifully. I fished around, grabbed a single coin and gave it to Trev, who in turn bit into it and nodded.
“They are as real as they can get.”
“Now, since I gave you the payment first, I assume you understand what happens if the product is not satisfactory.”
I swear I could hear the smirk from Bane. Trev paled considerably.
Fucker got blinded by the money.

“You won’t have to worry about that Mr. Bane, the creature is alive and well.”
I quickly said, prompting Number 7 to pick up the bag carefully, open it, and bring it up to Bane. Bane in turn, reached in and brought out the creature who was currently biting Bane’s brown hands which were almost like fur. The creature named Eclipse struggled to stand as Bane was holding onto its underside. Its legs danced trying to find something to latch onto.
“Feisty one, aren't you? Hmm There is some minor damage, and this wing is drooping down fairly low, but that is all right.”
Bane didn’t seem to be bothered by Eclipse trying to rip off a piece off him.
“I am satisfied with the product, Mr. Krig and Mr. Trevor... wait? What's this?”
Bane suddenly reached with his other hand and grabbed something on Eclipse. Eclipse in turn switched its target to the other hand. The creature’s gaze may have been stoic, but I swear I saw some anger behind those eyes.
“Is this...? How funny, a tracking amulet. How did you expect to take back the product?”
“Wait that’s-”
Before I could explain myself, Bane interrupted me.
“No need for an explanation, I’ll forgive you once you feed my subjects after all.”
I was slightly confused by what Bane meant when he said that, but Trev seemed to understand something else as he started running. That was a mistake as Number 7 suddenly disappeared from my vision. Seconds after, a scream sounded behind me as a loud snap sounded out.
“I don’t know if I should say you’re brave or just dumb for not running, I’m sure Number 7 would’ve stayed back to feast on one of you.”
The sounds of muffled crying sounded behind me, I paled once I heard the flesh getting torn off and the sounds of chewing promptly after. My mind refused to acknowledge what Bane said just now, but no matter how hard I tried to believe it not to be true, the person- no the monster behind me was ripping apart Trev.
“Don’t blame us, after all the animal side wants to hunt, but I think it’ll be satisfied with free meat anyway. I thank you for staying.”
I couldn’t take it anymore, I looked back and ignored Trev on the ground, who was not recognizable, but rather looked like a pile of gore which mourned. I didn’t want to know how he turned into just a pile in such a short amount of time, nor did I want to acknowledge the blood red hand reaching up at me. Rather I ran.
I ran faster than when I stole Eclipse, I ran faster than I did in my entire life. I ran through the winding alleyways, my breath turning heavy.
Then I couldn’t run anymore, something caught my foot. I looked down and saw a pink tentacle.
“Bane did say one of you would run far, I’m glad I was stationed here~.”
Looking behind was a mistake, from the darkness of the alleys, I saw a mass of tentacles, moving and pulsing disgustingly.
The movement itself made me almost throw up.
“Aw did you really think that even if the spawn of the Brood Mother came perfectly and without that amulet you would’ve lived, that’s adorable~. We need it for a sacrifice stupid~.”
Suddenly I was pulled roughly, forcing me to fall flat on my back as I was pulled through the rough gravel of the alley.
The mass of tentacles was now in front of me, and the smell was horrible.
Being this close I was now able to make out the form of what looked like a human, but it was hardly recognizable.
“What are you”
I could barely say.
“Me? I am just a pawn made to serve the great being, Nurüiath, but you don’t need to worry about that, the dead men forget everything they know~.”
The name hurt my head, but I had other things to worry about, mostly the smell of rot that filled my nostrils as the beak filled with human teeth opened wide in front of me.
“No no no-”
Darkness was all I knew afterwards.
