Chapter 61: A terrifying fight against Indis.

Chapter 61: A terrifying fight against Indis.

The following day I woke up and started the routine again, only this time I had to spend a gold coin to buy an energy stone because the incubator was running out of power.

Once that was done, I went out to eat at the nearest restaurant; this time, I wanted to try a South American food dish called encebollado, a broth containing onion, fish, cilantro, chili, yucca, tomato and some spices. The dish was a little spicy but at the same time delicious. When I tasted it, I remembered what an old man attending a small food stand used to say "savouring and enjoying food is one of the pleasures of life".

After finishing breakfast, I went to the academy. If I remember correctly, today I have to train class 1A. I wonder if they took into account my suggestion to train with their classmates, well, I'll find out today.

I arrive at the training area in the second building and see that everyone is already gathered, so I waste no time and greet my students.

* Good morning students.

* Students: Good morning, Coach Marco.

* This is what I have planned for today: A warm-up to wake up the muscles followed by a short 2-minute break, then I will proceed to answer your questions regarding any topic, and finally, if you want to have a practice fight with me, you can do it. Is that clear?!

When the students heard the last thing Coach Marco said, they were surprised but quickly replied.

* Students: Yes!

* Ready, so let's get started.

With that said, the training began. Marco started with the typical morning jog, followed by a series of exercises focused on legs, thighs, abs, chest, arms and back.

When the students finished all the exercises, they fell to the ground. Some had felt their bodies trembling, while others did not want to get up anymore. However, still, all the students had an expression of satisfaction. That feeling was the one a person gets for a job well done. After all, hard work ennobles the soul.

* All right, it's time to answer the questions, so go ahead.

As soon as he finished saying that, several students raised their hands to ask for some guidance to coach Marco, as many of them saw great improvements when listening to his advice. The curious thing is that Indis did not approach him to ask questions, which was strange since she usually asks him for help in this kind of thing.

...

After 1 hour of talking, Marco's throat was dry, so he pulled out a basic HP potion LV 3 to drink, this could be considered ostentatious on his part, but since he had plenty of money, he figured it wouldn't matter after all the "SYSTEM αβΩ" doesn't sell bottles of water.

* Let's proceed to the practice fights if there are no more questions. Is there anyone who wants to fight with me?

At the question, the students of class 1A remained in total silence. Yesterday they heard how the trainer Marco had a confrontation with Fiona and how the trainer defeated her in the two matches. Almost all the students of the academy know Fiona's fighting style. They also know that the people who could face her are few, so few that they do not exceed the fingers of one hand.

Just when he thought that no one wanted to train with him and that he could leave early today, a hand was raised in the crowd of students. This hand was thin but, at the same time, delicate. When his gaze fell on that hand, he realized that it was Indis, who had not said a word before and now wanted to participate in a confrontation with him.

When Marco wanted to react to this confrontation, Indis had already risen from her seat. She walked with a dignified demeanour but also did not show arrogance. She was like a warrior ready to face the cavalry. She never backed down, which pleasantly surprised Marco, as he had never seen this behaviour in Indis.

* Indis: I would like to confront you, Mr Marco.

* ... what happened to you?

* Indis: What do you mean?

* Your behaviour and demeanour are very different from what I am used to.

In my words, Indis shows a pleasant and complacent smile as if she is proud of what she has achieved.

* Indis: *smile* Let's just say I'm about to make a breakthrough in my "Sonic Pulse" skill.

* I see, so you want to fight me to see if you can make that breakthrough, right?

* Indis: That's right.

* I understand, then I will fight you using my vulture form.

* Indis: Are you going to transform?

* Of course, suppose you want your "sonic pulse" skill to evolve. In that case, you must practice it in an environment where you can experience its quality. And my vulture form has a debuff-like ability called "screech", which has the characteristic that it is a sound.

With that said, both Indis and I move towards an open space to face each other without any problem. In this fight, I told him to use a real bow since I was going to use "butcher" to be able to transform into my vulture form. At first, she was a little reluctant to do so, but after telling him that I had the means to defend myself, she finally agreed. For my part, I will not attack; instead, I will concentrate on defending and counterattacking.

Once in position, we looked at each other and started the fight. Indis jumped back and began to throw arrows at an impressive speed. Seeing that Indis is not holding back, I will not do it either.

Possession!

Cutting wind!

Seeing the huge amount of arrows she throws, I decide to counter her attack with cutting wind skills. Due to the enormous force of the wind, the arrows that Indis threw become useless and are destroyed. Seeing the force of the wind, she begins to jump back to avoid being hit by it.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

Once she notices that the wind has stopped, she shoots her arrows again at high speed. Since my ability is cooling and the distance is quite far, I just dodge the arrows she throws at me. I did not know that these arrows were different from the previous ones because their arrowheads had a small glow of light that went unnoticed by everyone.

When the arrows fall to the ground, they slowly increase in brightness. When I noticed these arrows' anomaly, it was too late to react.

Without warning, the arrows released a glow so intense and painfully similar to what you feel when you see the sun directly, so I close my eyes to avoid the light glare. In doing so, Indis runs towards me, I know it by the sounds of footsteps that are getting closer and closer, but as I'm not used to this kind of situation, I can't know where it will come from.

Suddenly I feel a chill down my back as if something bad is about to weigh in. As a precaution, I get into a defensive position and release my debuff ability.

Screech!

The horrible sound is released, and the feeling of danger is eliminated, so I open my eyes and see nothing in front of me, but on the left side of my head, I see the white and thin hand of a woman, which is making a movement similar to a snapping sound, so I hastily jump forward. As soon as I do that, a sharp and painful sound is heard, similar to what a knife makes when rubbed against a ceramic plate.

When Indis notices that her surprise attack has failed, she clicks her tongue. On the other hand, I feel that my backfills with cold sweat. If it was someone else or had not reacted in time, I would be on the floor. Besides, if she had used a knife or some kind of dagger instead of using her sonic pulse, I would be dead for sure; fortunately, she didn't do it.

Noticing that I make no move, Indis throws her arrows at me again, but this time I look at her arrowheads to ensure they are not the same ones she threw at me a moment ago.

When I saw that they were normal arrows, I started to dodge them while I slowly approached her. Still, at the same time that I was trying to do that, she was moving away, so we were in a constant stalemate, where she was moving away and shooting without being able to hit, and I was dodging and approaching without being able to reach her.

This continued so much that eventually, I thought it was strange. It was then that my sight moved for a brief moment to the ground. I noticed that the arrows on the ground formed a strange pattern. When I see this, I finally understand what is happening; Indis is trying to create something. The question now is, what does she want to create? From what I understand, to do magic requires a staff, but you never know. Maybe there is another way to do magic without the need for staff, or maybe she wants to summon some monster or golem to help him in battle.

In any case, I must do something. I could use the cutting wind to destroy the arrows in the field. Still, the arrowheads might not be expelled from the ground, and on the contrary, she could use them as a means of activation. For now, I will pretend that I have not seen it and continue chasing her. If she makes a strange move, I will use cutting wind on a section of the arrows, followed by a winged shield.

After two minutes of chasing Indis, she throws an arrow and sticks her bow in the ground. As soon as I see this, I know she will activate the pattern on the ground, so I quickly act.

Cutting wind!

The strong wind blows on a section of the ground with several buried arrows. Still, when I observe the arrows carefully, I notice that they do not have their tips and what I feared the most comes true, so before it gets worse, I activate the winged shield skill a second after Indis activates the pattern on the ground.

* Indis: Amplification!

Winged shield!

Indis speaks aloud to activate the pattern on the ground, which begins to glow with a light blue glow with white tones. After that, she brings her hand closer and thunders her fingers.

Sonic pulse!

Indis activates her sonic pulse again, but this time it is amplified by the pattern on the floor. When this happens, a thunderous sound runs through my whole body and booms in my head, which I feel goes off for a brief second. Besides that, the sound wave produced was strong enough to lift my body and send it 20 meters off the ground, while several notifications appeared before me.

[You have been affected by a powerful sound wave].

[The "Winged Shield" ability has mitigated 50% of the attack].

[-320]

[Your body is in a dazed state].

[Thanks to your high "Mind" statistic, your brain has recovered from the daze].

In the air, I try to recover as best I can. Still, it is useless as my body can hardly react, so I use the full capacity of my brain to force my body to extend the wings on my back and stay in the air as long as possible. In contrast, I try to regain control of the rest of my body and thus take an HP and MP potion.

...

Meanwhile, Indis observes how Marco spreads his wings and is flying in circles through the air. Although now is a good time to shoot her arrows, she does not have enough strength to do it since creating that magical formation on the ground consumes much of her stamina. Besides, it requires a lot of mana to activate it, along with her sonic pulse ability. In fact, she shows an expression of relief to see that she is well.

During the creation of her formation, she paid close attention to Marco's movements to prevent him from finding out about her plan; however, halfway through, she noticed that his eyes moved slightly to the ground where the arrows were and then continued chasing her, this slight movement made her realize that he already knew what he wanted to do, but what she did not understand was why he did nothing and continued chasing her, this made her feel uncomfortable, so she began to shoot arrows much faster to finish the formation.

When she stuck her bow, Marco activated his wind ability in an area where there were several arrows. In desperation, she activated the formation; fortunately, it was still working. She saw how Marco moved his wings to his chest to protect himself from what was coming. Still, she did not have time to think about that, so as soon as the formation was activated, she used her sonic pulse ability.

The moment it was activated, she tried to feel all the changes in the area, whether it was the loud sound that echoed in her ear or the slight tremor she felt in her feet, she tried to feel them as best she could to see if she could find a clue that could help him improve her ability, she also observed how Marco was. She was afraid that he would be seriously injured or even die from the fall, she already knew beforehand how powerful this training technique was with her ability, she knew that the person who received this attack would not only be thrown through the air but would also enter a state of stunned and would receive a great impact when he fell to the ground.

So seeing Marco flying through the air without any problem relieved the fear she felt in her heart, but thinking about how she felt relief to see that Marco was okay filled her with many doubts, for she didn't know why she felt that.

A minute later, Marco regained control of his body in the air, so he took a potion of HP and MP to recover. After that, he went down to the ground and stood in front of Indis, kneeling on the floor like one of those damsels from the Disney movies, so he took out a potion of HP and MP for her to drink.

* ...I told you before, and I'll tell you again, you're scary.

* Indis: Look who's talking, you withstood that full-power attack, and you look good.

* It was lucky I endured it. If it were anyone else, I would be dead.

* Indis: But you still did it *sigh* I thought if I fought, I might get a clue on how to evolve my ability.

* Didn't you get it

* Indis: No.

* Are you sure?

* Indis: Did you find out anything?

* It is possible when the sound wave hit me, it made the inside of my body vibrate and rumble, but thanks to the fact that I protected myself, I was able to disperse a great part of its power; what do you think would happen if that sound wave was directed to an area that cannot be defended such as the internal organs.

* Indis: Well, this one could take damage, but your body repels some of the sounds.

* And if you found a frequency at which it could damage a particular organ, similar to the frequency of a sound capable of breaking a glass cup.

* Indis: That's...

Listening to Marco's words, Indis felt a kind of epiphany. She felt as if that layer of fog that prevented him from seeing the answer began slowly dissipating. Although it was still there, she felt that it would not be long before it would be eliminated, so she quickly tried to concentrate.

Seeing this, Marco decided to move away so she could concentrate on herself, so he turned to the rest of his students to ask if they wanted to practice with him.

At the question, the rest of the students didn't know what to say, as their classmate's recent fight with Coach Marco was still raging in their minds, so they unconsciously shook their heads to indicate that they didn't want to fight.

And with that, today's class was over.
