Chapter 6: Let's be efficient!

Chapter 6: Let's be efficient!

On my way to the farm, I ended up passing through the centre of town, I need to take advantage of the time, and since I'm on my way, I might as well explore the city a bit since I still require an inn.

If I remember well, the receptionist told me that the only inn is on the right-hand side, but I've been walking for quite a while, and I can't find anything, well if I don't see it now, I'll ask for directions when I return.

But no matter how much I look, I can't find anything that looks like an inn; maybe it has a different appearance than what I think it is, and that's why I can't find it.

In the end, I couldn't find it; besides, I just got to the end of the cobblestone road, it looks like I'll have to ask for directions when I get back from my mission; on the bright side, it's not even half a day yet, so I have time.

As I walked to the farm, I observed the surroundings, looking for the silora grass. Fortunately, when I accepted the mission, I was given a picture of what it looked like, so I could identify it quickly, without having to pull up and inspect every plant I found on my way.

After 30 minutes, I can already see the farm of the lord; I also managed to get another ten silora herbs on the way, but it is not enough; this barely covers the notebook I just bought, I know I can get many more if I go to the forest, but I don't want to risk it, since I still don't feel the need for the money, I will see if I can get some information from the farmer.

Now that I'm here, I should knock on the door.

* Good morning, I'm from the Adventurer's Guild; I'm here for the wheat transport mission.

After my knock, I hear some footsteps, and a 50-60-year-old lady comes out and greets me.

* Good morning; thank you for coming so early; my husband is in the back barn.

* Then I'm sorry to bother you.

I entered the farmer's house and walked to the back; wow, something smelled good; it looked like the lady was making lunch.

Advanced to the back and observed what appears to be her husband and how he is tying the wheat tightly; what a skill; you can tell this is something he is used to as his movements are fluid.

As I approach, the man notices my presence and turns around; he looks to be about 60 years old and just like Erick, he is brimming with energy; there is no doubt that hard work ennobles.

* Are you here for the mission?

* Yes, sir, my name is Marco Diaz.

* Excellent, then I'll tell you what to do. See all these bales of wheat behind me?

* Yes?

* I need you to take them to my truck on the left side of the barn and stack them in the crate; try to put as many as possible.

* I'm doing that now.

After confirming what I have to do, I start loading the bales, they are not that heavy, and you could carry them with one hand, but their size forces you to use both arms to avoid damaging them, I start loading them one by one and carry them to the truck.

Seeing the time it takes, it will take me a long time to finish this; there must be some way to carry them faster; around the farm, I can see that there are randomly growing silora grass; I could ask the farmer if I can take them with me.

Think, Marco, think! I start looking around and find a gardening wheelbarrow and some ropes.

Perfect, I already have an idea of what I need to do, but I also need a long pole; I'll drop off these bales of wheat first and then ask the farmer if there is a long pole nearby that I can borrow.

* Um, excuse me, sir, you wouldn't happen to have a long pole I could borrow?

* A long pole? well, there are some inside the barn; what do you need them for?

* Hehe, you'll see!

Now that I know where they are, I start running to the barn; I see some sticks piled up on the right side of the door, looking for them.

A few seconds later, I found the right stick, shaped like a pole, and the length was perfect for my purpose.

With all the materials ready, it's time for my plan to go into action.

I grabbed the ropes and tied them onto the handles of one wheelbarrow, then grabbed the ends of the strings and tied them onto another wheelbarrow. Then I used the long pole and placed it just below the ropes on the bales of wheat.

Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

And presto, now I can carry more bales of wheat; it's like a long wheelbarrow, only two bales are in the wheelbarrows, and the pole levitates two others; I would have liked to use boards and use them as bottom support, but the farmer doesn't have wooden boards long enough for this.

Anyway, it works, and now I can do my job x 4; now, let's start loading again.

On the other hand, the farmer just saw everything I did; he seemed impressed; I hope he doesn't mind that I used the carts this way, but seeing that he didn't say anything to me, I guess he won't mind.

In any case, I can finish faster, and maybe he'll let me take some of those silora herbs in the surroundings.

After 2 hours of work, I finished carrying the last bale of wheat to the truck; I still can't believe that all that time I spent playing Tetris was good for something. Who says you can't learn anything from video games?

It's already noon, and I'm getting hungry; working under the sun works up an appetite.

As soon as I think of food, I hear the farmer calling me.

* Hey kid, since you're done, come and eat.

* Okay, I'm coming.

I ran to the farmer's house to eat; when I got to this place, the smell of that food left me hypnotized, so I couldn't wait to try it.

As soon as I arrive, I sit down at the table and see what is there, it seems to be a bean soup with meat, but I also see other vegetables that I can't identify, there is also a plate of rice with a cabbage salad and an orange juice.

I already want to eat, but I wait for the farmer and his wife to sit down; once they sit down, now I can taste the food with peace of mind.

God! It's delicious, the soup is spicy but smooth, and the rice is just right; as for the salad, I can notice a fragrance that only freshly cut plants release, and the juice is fresh; I think that besides selling wheat, the farmer also has a vegetable garden for himself.

* Easy kid, the food isn't going anywhere.

* Sorry, it's just that it's so tasty!

* Gee, thanks to many young men, we don't usually have many visitors, so it's nice to see someone around these parts.

* Don't many adventurers pass through these parts?

* Yes, but most of them go straight to the forest to hunt; they rarely pass by the farm, although I can't get angry either, it's thanks to them that the forest creatures don't attack my farm.

* Is that so? By the way, what is your name?

* My name is Eliot, and this is my wife, Lisa.

* Nice to meet you; my name is Marco.

* Eliot: By the way, Marco, what brings you to these parts? This town has almost nothing interesting; it's more of a place to pass through than anything else.

* To be honest, I just arrived in this world, and since I am limited in the economic aspect, I need to make money quickly, to be sure.

* Lisa: So you are a new resident. Do you already know what you plan to be?

* Not really, for the moment, I want to learn a few things, and after that, I will make my decision.

I want to be a swordsman; in most games, I always choose that profession because the feeling of using a sword to advance in my way makes me feel that I can go against the world, but I still remember what Eos told me *If I were you, I wouldn't take the class change course so fast" What does that mean? Could it be possible that you lose the chance to get something when you choose your profession?

I have to think carefully; I don't want to make a hasty decision and then regret it later; I must take it to step by step, after all. There is no cure for regret.

* Eliot: That's the best thing, take your time and choose wisely; every profession has its pros and cons, so it's better to be prepared; the best thing is to look for a synergy between the domain and the skills that are to say a balance.

* Synergy? Balance?

* Lisa: It means that both your profession and skills should not be counterproductive.

* Eliot: Think of it this way, if you choose to be a mage, you must keep in mind that your defences are weak, but your attack power is equivalent to the level of mana you have, physical strength is not your priority, and you only have four active skills, you can choose between; 4 attack skills for all types; 2 attack skills and two defence skills; 3 attack skills and one buff-debuff. Among other things.

* Lisa: Of course, you can also use equipment that compensates for your weaknesses, but keep in mind that this won't make you invincible, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, so you have to know how to take advantage of those things.

* Eliot: Exactly, one must be prepared for all kinds of situations, no matter how absurd they may be.

* Like what?

Eliot and Lisa look at each other as if they were thinking about telling me something; after a few seconds, they nod and look at me with a severe expression.

* Eliot: Marco, when you read the "TUTORIAL" book, you learned about the "ARTEFACTS", right?

* Yes, I read it from the "TUTORIAL" book; it says that they are potent objects and you can use them to bring all kinds of weapons from the video game world.

* Eliot: That's right, but what it doesn't tell you is what kind of limitations it has; you can bring into this world, except for a few, ABSOLUTELY any object you meet in any video game of any kind, and as we speak, that catalogue is expanding as more and more video games are created on earth. The use that each one has changed according to how powerful it is in the video game, but it is usually 120 seconds.

* What the heck! That's crazy, I know weapons capable of destroying you in just 1 second, and now you tell me that I must try to survive for 120 seconds in front of one of those monsters!!!

* Lisa: That's right, but fortunately for us, the "αβΩ SYSTEM" doesn't allow its use in populated areas... well... unless a different situation happens...

* .....What do you want to say?

* Lisa: If the village faces a creature that is impossible for the adventurers to destroy, the "αβΩ SYSTEM" authorizes the use of "ARTEFACTS".

* I guess one such situation has already happened, true?

* Eliot: That's right, it was years ago a city far east of this one, we witnessed it before our eyes, we went on vacation and just when we were about to leave a tide of monsters emerged, the adventurers faced it and had no problems, until the final boss arrived, it was a kind of armoured cyclops that mitigated magic damage, so only physical attacks worked, but no matter how much they attacked, the cyclops had an excessive amount of HP (Life Points), the cyclops was already at the gates, and the adventurers could not do anything, then a notification came up from the "αβΩ SYSTEM" that authorized people to use the "ARTEFACTS" inside the city, a few seconds later the Guild Master used his "WEAPON TYPE ARTEFACT" and summoned something called "Paracelsus Sword" it was a huge and heavy machine that was placed in front of him, and he aimed it at the Armored Cyclops, after five seconds, the weapon fired a kind of energy ball that flew at an incredible speed. When the gun stopped, the Battleship Cyclops disappeared, and all that was left was a massive line of destroyed land that stretched for 1 kilometre.

* Lisa: After seeing that, we knew how lucky we are that we can't use those things in the villages, but if a situation like that happens again, another weapon could be summoned and may destroy our home.

* Eliot: That is why you must be prepared.

* I understand; I will be careful when I go out to explore.

* Eliot: Well, let's stop thinking about that; we'd better enjoy the food.

* I'd be happy to. Oh, by the way, by any chance, can I pick the silora herbs that are in the yard? I have a mission with them.

* Lisa: Go ahead; I hardly ever use them, so you can take as many as you can.

* Thank you.

Well, now I can take the silora herbs without hurting my conscience, but who would have imagined that I would learn about the terror of the "ARTEFACTS" from these people? If I analyze it carefully, the weapon used by that guild master must be the Paracelsus Sword from the RE3: Nemesis video game; I remember that this weapon was necessary to finish Nemesis definitively and that you could only use it in that final part of the game.

The only downside is that it's impossible to move it from its place due to its enormous weight; plus, it takes a few seconds to load the shot, but its firepower is overwhelming.

At least I know that I am safe in the towns and cities, but when I go to explore other places, I may run into people who have these "ARTEFACTS", and at any moment, a confrontation may happen.
