The crowd is gathered around what's left of my cleaning cart, they seem to be whispering something, but I don't feel like listening to what they're saying.
* Okay, stop looking at the mess and study.
Everyone turned to look at me with surprised faces when I said that.
* What? I know I'm cute. Now get out of here so I can pick up this debris and throw it in the trash can.
With that said, I walk in the middle of the crowd of students that keep looking at me while I clean the mess that Aron made. I don't see Indis around either. I think that after the fight, she went to her class or maybe to the bathroom to dry the water that splashed from the cart. The point is that she has already left.
After 3 minutes, I managed to dry and pick up the destroyed pieces of the cart. The students continue to watch me, which makes me tired.
* Seriously, they are still here. Shouldn't they study? Go away.... out out out out out out out out out, or do I have to kick them in the buttocks to make them leave?
As soon as I say that, the students retreat to their classrooms as fast as possible.
* *Breathe* *Exhale* How nice it is when people cooperate.
After the students retired to their classrooms, I was able to take out these scraps and throw them into the trash can. Once I do that, I head to the library to read the skill books.
Since the students are in class, the place is empty, so I walk over to section 1A and grab the defense skills book.
Like the profession books, here it details the name of the skill, shows me an illustration of the skill, the weapon or item it requires, its advantages, disadvantages, and how to learn the skill.
Perfect, it's time to learn.
...
I thought it would take me a long time to read the skill books, but it only took me 4 hours. As it turns out, there aren't many Defense - Buff - Debuff and Special skills.
Some of the Defense skills require high stats of dexterity or agility, while others require the use of different shields or weapons to perform them. In the case of Buff, Debuff, and Special skills, something similar happens as they need high HP, MP, or intelligence stats to use or learn them.
For example, there is a defensive skill for mages called "BreakPoint," which requires using the staff's tip to break your opponent's magical ability. It only requires 50 MP, but if you do not aim correctly, you will be exposed to a direct hit.
There is also an ability of the Buff type called "Weapon Pact," In exchange for 50% of your maximum HP, you will get an improvement of 50% of your maximum power and attack skills, as for the duration of the effect does not say.
But the most curious is the Special type. There is an ability called "Divide Pain," which makes you share half of the damage you receive both you and your pet, and if you had a pet with a huge defense, you could easily use this ability without restrictions.
Now that I have seen both the professions and the skills, I can start putting together a path to my future profession, but I have to think carefully about what skills I should learn. After all, I can only have three active skills.
I leave the library to eat at the restaurant, but I meet Indis at the door when I go downstairs.
* Indis: Hello Mr. Marco, are you going to lunch?
* That's the idea, by the way... Where did you go when I took Aron's brat?
* Indis: I had to go to class. By the way, Mr. Marco, what happened with Aron?
* What are you, a policewoman? Why do you worry about those things?
* Indis: I was just curious, Mr. Marco.
* Okay, that's enough with the sir thing. Tell me what's going on.
* Indis: Am I that obvious?
* If you start calling me sir very often out of the blue, it's obvious I'll notice.
* Indis: Okay, the thing is that I already have the marinated meat and the pineapple slices, but I couldn't buy the grill.
* It's okay, I'll buy it.
I open the "αβΩ SYSTEM" and look for a decent grill for a few seconds until I finally find the one I want.
[Portable BBQ Grill]
[Price: 50 Silver]
[A grill on which you can grill meats evenly and you only need charcoal, you can also use it to burn evidence].
* Ready, now follow me.
* Indis: Where are we going?
* We're going to grill that meat and the pineapple slices.
I start walking a little to the right to look for a suitable place to put the grill. After looking for 3 minutes, I find the perfect spot, so I take out the grill and the Ent's bodies as charcoal.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
* We open this... and .... ready, it's on now pass me the meat.
* Indis: ...
* Indis, where is the meat?
* Indis: ...is that an Ent from the forest?
* If so, now pass me the meat.
* Indis: ... here.
* Thank you, I hope it's tasty.
* Kii!!! 〴∴⋋_⋌〵
* Relax, Kawaii, I won't forget about you. I asked Indis for the pineapple, but I plan to grill it after the grill gets hot enough.
* KIII!!!! ヽ(^◇^*)/
* Indis: ...Mr. Marco, is that an Ent from the forest over there?
* I told you it is.
* Indis: Where did you get it?
* Well..
I started to tell him what happened the first day I entered the academy and the incident with the Ents, which made Indis go silent for a while before speaking again.
* Indis: So you are the person from the rumors of that day.
* Yes.
* Indis: Why didn't you tell me?
* You never ask, why would I have to tell you? I hardly know you
* Indis: I understand, but I still don't understand one thing.
* What's that?
* Indis: Because he's using the Ent's bodies as charcoal.
* Because I want to see them burn! How dare these senile trees attack Kawaii? Even if they're already dead, I want them to continue suffering.
* Indis: ...That's scary.
* And says the girl who can appear behind people without making any noise.
* Indis: ...Touché
The grill starts to gain heat, so I quickly ask Indis for the pineapple slices and start grilling them. After 6 minutes, they give off a delicious aroma, so I take out some disposable plates to put the pineapple slices on for Kawaii.
* Ready, enjoy it, Kawaii.
* Kiii! ヽ(゜∇゜)ノ
Kawaii starts nibbling small bites as the pineapple is a bit hot. She looks cute as she tries to eat it without burning her tongue.
* Indis: Mr. Marco, tell me the truth. What is your adventurer rank?
* Rank E *yum* wow, this meat is tasty. I wish I had a cold drink to go with it *yum*.
* Indis: Mr. Marco, I'm serious.
* I tell you I'm rank E. Take my card so you'll believe me.
I throw him my adventurer card so Indis can see my adventurer rank while I enjoy the grilled meat and pineapple.
* Indis: I can't believe it.
* I told you, now *yum* regarding your sonic pulse skill problem, have you tried practicing using a glass beaker?
* Indis: Yes, I've managed to break the glass, but I have no idea when it comes to using it in battles.
* I see, by the way, have you eaten?
* Indis: Yes.
* Okay, then let me finish my lunch, after that we'll do a practice fight, okay?
* Indis: Are we going to fight?
* Yes, what kind of weapon do you use?
* Indis: I use a bow and dagger.
* Mmm *ñam* but which one are you more confident within a fight?
* Indis: That would be the bow.
* Okay, get your bow and arrows ready. We'll fight here in a few minutes.
With that said, Indis goes off to find a bow, who knows where during Kawaii, and I continue enjoying our lunch.
When Indis returned, I had already finished eating while Kawaii took a nap on the grass.
* Okay, are you ready?
* Indis: Yes
* Remember, your sonic pulse is not just a noisy attack, so try to find other ways to use it during combat.
* Indis: Understood.
Once the indications are given, I take out the wooden sword and prepare for combat. Although it is only a practice match, I must fight with everything to bring out Indis' potential.
Indis starts the fight by throwing a wooden arrow at my leg that I can dodge with a quick turn to the right and continue running in his direction, so he pulls out another arrow and aims at me again.
This time I make a move to run to the right. In response, Indis points her bow in the direction where she thinks I'm going to be and shoots, but it's just a feint I make to force her to expend her arrow, and once she does, I run towards her to hit her in the neck.
But when I'm about to hit her with my sword, she uses the sonic pulse skill to try to disorient me, but that's not enough to stop my attack, so she uses her bow to protect herself from the hit, but I stop when I'm 10 centimeters away from my sword impacting with her bow.
* You miss.
* Indis: *sigh* I thought using sonic pulse might disorient you when you get close.
* It- Not bad at all. It would have worked if you had aimed for my ear.
* Indis: Can we fight again?
* Sure, but this time try to find a way for your ability to make an impact.
* Indis: Impact?
* I mean, hit me without me being prepared.
With that said, I go back to my distance to start another fight against Indis.
Indis started throwing an arrow at me in the previous combat, but this time I was the one who took the initiative, so I ran in a zigzag towards her.
Indis aims her bow at me and shoots three arrows in a row in a cone shape to prevent me from dodging them, so I use my sword to deflect one of her arrows and run straight toward her.
She shoots several arrows at me again while I'm running in a straight line, but I manage to deflect them easily.
When I'm about a meter away from Indis, I place my sword behind me, intending to attack her, but I stop short and jump back quickly.
Sonic Pulse!
When I jump backward, Indis releases her ability thinking I was going to attack her, which causes her attack to miss, and I can take advantage of that moment to counterattack.
I aim the tip of my wooden sword at her and only stop when I'm 5 centimeters away from her neck, ending the fight.
* All right, that's enough.
* Indis: Can't we fight one more time?
* It won't do any good. Go over our two encounters and think about your mistake I'm going to the library. Come on, Kawaii.
* Kiii! (づ  ̄ ³ ̄)づ
* You can't stay here, walking.
* Kii! (︶︿︶).
With that said, I leave Indis to go to the library to read the rest of the books; I have yet to read the books about the types of monsters, the geography of the world, intelligent races and history of the world, and one or two other interesting books.
...
I arrive at the library, and I see that there are already some students seated, so I go to section 3C to grab all the books about monsters that I can find and take them to the table to start reading them.
These books are classified by the rank of monsters ranging from F-rank, the lowest of all, to the SSS Rank, the strongest, so I start with the F-rank monster book.
When you open the book, it shows the name of the monster, the Slime, illustrating its elemental variants and abilities. Still, it doesn't show its weaknesses, its natural habitat, or some recommendations when you encounter one of them.
Unlike the book that the adventurer's guild has, this is just a simplified version, but at least they tell me what abilities they have, which is very useful when facing them.
...
I finished reading the books after 3 hours, and I discovered some interesting things:
1. there are 13 elemental types: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, Steel, Insect, Electric, Ghost, Dark, Light, Ice, Plant, and Poison.
2. SSS rank monsters are the most powerful monsters in the world of AETHER.
3. The "Devourer of Life" is a SSS rank monster.
4. Kawaii is an E+ rank monster, and its abilities are Pollen, Healing Touch, Forest Aid, and Plant Control.
5. My future dinosaur companion has the abilities: Of brute Strength and Strong Scales, but depending on his elemental type, they can change.
The funny thing about all this is that even with the skills that Kawaii can learn, she can be considered an E+ rank monster. For example, as its name suggests, the skill Plant Control allows him to control all the plants around him, which she can use to attack or defend.
That in itself is already powerful, but still, they give him the rank E+. Maybe this skill only appears when she evolves to the maximum? Or because it is very difficult to learn? In any case, I'll find out when Kawaii evolves in the not too distant future.
I still have a lot of time left since it's barely 16:00, so I'll take advantage of it to read other things.
Come on. Time is gold!
