Chapter 55: All settled, it's time to train.

As Marco glided through the air in the direction of the second building, the 4D students were already arriving.

Theo was conversing with Fiona and Asuka. Fiona was talking about various topics to which Theo responded enthusiastically, as several of those topics were things he was interested in, giving rise to a feeling of calm and tranquillity that Theo had not felt in a long time.

At that, they had arrived at the training ground, but there was no sign of the trainer.

* Theo: Coach Marco hasn't arrived?

* Asuka: Maybe he fell asleep.

* Fiona: It's possible. I bet it comes in 10 minutes.

* Asuka: I say in 30 minutes.

While the girls are joking around, Theo notices something in the sky.

* Theo: Hey... what's that?

* Fiona: What is that? Is that a bird?

* Asuka: It doesn't look like a flying-type monster! How did it get here?!

* Fiona: Damn it! Those of you who can't fight, find shelter! And one of you, find the teachers!

All the students were upset at the thought that a monster had invaded the academy. Although the place is well protected, that does not mean it is 100% safe; sometimes monsters from nearby areas tend to sneak in, but rarely does something like this happen, so there is an emergency protocol for cases like this, which allows students with sufficient combat power to delay the invading monster.

Fiona pulls out a knight-like steel sword and prepares to fight. Theo pulls out the sword the trainer gave him and prepares to fight even though he knows he might not be strong enough.

The "monster" lands on the ground as they prepare for battle. Due to the sunlight, the students could not see the shape of the "monster", so now they could observe it closely. It is a bird-shaped humanoid similar to the race of the Fereos, which holds a sword in his right hand.

Seeing this, Fiona and Theo were confused and unsure how to proceed until the "monster" spoke.

* Why are they pointing their swords at me? Do they want to fight?

* Fiona: ...Who are you?

* It's me.

* Fiona: Who are you?

* It's me!

* Fiona: Who are you?!

* ... that's me.

* Theo: Wait a minute... Coach Marco?

* Fiona: Is that Mr Marco?!

* Of course, I'm Marco, who were you expecting? MacGyver?

* Theo: Why does it look like that?

* It's a skill I have.

* Fiona: We thought it was a monster that wanted to attack us.

* I don't blame them. I would also act the same way in that situation. In any case, call the rest of your classmates because the class is about to start.

* Fiona: Are you going to make them sign the document?

* That's the idea, get them, I'll stay.

That said, Fiona and Theo split up to explain to their teammates about the situation. At first, they look surprised, but after seeing how their teammate Asuka approaches "Coach Marco", and nothing happens, the others start walking in her direction.

Meanwhile, Asuka observes Mr Marco with great curiosity, making Marco uncomfortable with her indiscreet gaze, so he can't stand it any longer and speaks directly to her.

* This... Asuka... could you stop looking at me like that?

* Asuka: Look at you, how?

* As if you were a scientist watching an experiment.

* Asuka: I can't help it. I'm a little intrigued by your transformation.

* What's so special about it? Don't people have transformation abilities that also change their form? Like super saiyan transformation or bankai.

* Asuka: Well, yes, but it's not very common usually. The changes are not so physical, but it's almost completely in her case. She even looks like a Fereo.

* Straight? Is that what they look like?

* Asuka: Well, yes and no, I've only seen them twice, and both times they looked the same. They both had almost the same characteristics as you, except that their ears were of animals.

* I see. Ah! They're here.

At that, the other students arrive, led by Theo and Fiona, but besides that, they are accompanied by Siri, who for some reason looks at me with a face that says, "I knew this would happen."

* Siri: Can't you undo that form?

* I can, but I decided not to do it so that students will remember this aspect and not be scared next time.

* Siri: Next time, do you plan to transform into that form every day starting today?

* Of course not! But you never know when you'll have to, so it's better to see it now rather than during an emergency.

* Siri: I see. You're not going to do another crazy thing like this, are you?

* I don't think so. By the way, have you already taken care of those hooligans?

* Siri: Don't call them that... but I already took care of it.

* Perfect! I'll bring you the leaves later.

* Siri: Okay.

That said, Siri leaves for work while I stay with the 4D students who watch me curiously.

* Before we start the class, I have to give you some handouts, Theo. Since you already signed this before, you can explain it to your new classmates.

* Theo: Yes, coach.

At that, Theo explains the sheets they have to sign while I put away "butcher" and finally get rid of my vulture transformation.

Once that's done, I turn around and see that all the students signed the sheets, and no one is leaving, which implies that they decided to be in my class, so I walk toward them and start talking.

* Okay, let's start with a little warm-up. After that, I will try to answer all the questions and doubts you may have, understood?

* All: Yes!

* Perfect, then let's get started.

With that said, the training of the whole 4D class begins. I must say I was a bit surprised that all the students accepted. I knew Fiona and Asuka would accept it and maybe 6 or 7 other students, but that they all accepted was surprising. Maybe it has to do with the fact that they saw my vulture form and thought it was an interesting and powerful ability. Too bad I don't plan to teach them how to do it, as I fear they will reveal something that will put my life in danger.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Well, Theo is the only one who knows but seeing as he has a certain shy streak, he can't tell other people, especially strangers.

That said, I turn my attention back to training.

...

Ten minutes later, the students are on the floor resting. While they catch their breath, I am sitting down, writing an exercise routine for all of them, along with recommendations for a balanced diet. If I knew about nutrition, I would help them, but I think it would be best to leave that to the experts in that field.

By the time I finished writing the exercise routine, the boys had recovered from their fatigue, so I had proceeded to the second part of the class.

* Very well, now I will answer the doubts you have, either profession or skills, if it is about handling weapons, I can only help you with the sword, but even so, I lack experience, I hope you understand.

The students start whispering, but barely a few seconds pass when Fiona stands up.

* Fiona: Mr Marco, I would like to fight with you.

* ...What the fuck... not that I'm against it, but why?

* Fiona: I would like to test my sword skills.

* I understand I can do it, but you have to wait until I answer the questions of your colleagues. We will also fight with wooden swords to avoid injuries. Do you agree with that?

* Fiona: Yes!

* Then it's settled. For now, you can go for a wooden sword from the warehouse.

With that said, Fiona goes to the storage room for her sword while the other students go back to whispering amongst themselves as if they were expecting a good fight.

...

After 2 hours, the students stopped asking me questions. Theo didn't ask me questions because he still doesn't know about the skills he wants to learn, and Asuka is interested in weapon enchantments, armour and various objects. As for Fiona, she just said she wanted to fight.

* Okay, that seems to be everyone, Fiona, are you ready?

* Fiona: From the beginning!

* Then let's move from here.

Fiona and I move from our spot to a more open area to fight calmly. We agree to fight two two-minute rounds with no skills and wooden swords.

Made a circle on the ground, which is big enough for both of us to attack, dodge, retreat and defend; this reminds me of fighting in street fights for money back in my college days... better stop thinking about the past distracts me from the present.

We both get into attack position. Fiona waits for me to make the first move, which I do as I run toward her while placing my sword on my back in a diagonal position.

Seeing my movement, Fiona makes a slight movement of her body. She places her sword in a position that deflects my cut, which allows her to counterattack my right flank and that she does not waste in the least, as she skillfully turns her sword and attacks me at great speed. Seeing that, I move with my wrist to place my sword on my right side and use my left arm to withstand Fiona's attack.

Fiona's attack hits my sword but is not strong enough to move my body or leave my arms shaking.

When Fiona sees this, she is surprised, as she never thought Mr Marco could react so quickly to her attack, thus demonstrating great control and swordplay.

But while he thought that, Marco made a 180-degree turn and pointed his sword at Fiona's left shoulder, so she quickly raised her sword to defend herself from the blow. Still, the impact was so strong that it caused her hand to tremble, so Marco took advantage of that moment and placed his wooden sword on Fiona's neck, ending the game.

Although it took too long to describe this battle, the reality is that it only lasted about 30 seconds at most, as Marco and Fiona's sword movements and attacks were so swift and precise that it was difficult for the untrained eye to follow.

* You lost.

* Fiona: How come you...

* If you're asking how I managed to beat you, it's because, unlike you, I take every fight as if my life depended on it.

* Fiona: But it was just a practice fight.

* And who guarantees that they won't try to kill me during a practice fight?

* Fiona: Do you think I would do such a thing?

* You don't, but someone else does. The human mind is unpredictable, but hey, ready for another round of practice?

* Fiona: I don't think so. You'll beat me up again.

* Do you want it to be easy?

* Fiona: Yes.

* Go to hell. You'll never learn from your failures if I go easy on you.

* Fiona: But why does he have to fight in such a wild way?

* It's just my style of fighting. Do you think when you go outside to fight monsters, criminals or who knows what, they will fight by the rules? That's stupid. The only thing they will care about is staying alive.

* Fiona: But... I understand... then I want another fight.

* Well, the rules will be the same and remember to attack me as if your life depended on it.

With that said, round 2 begins, but this time it is she who initiates the attack and rushes at me at full speed, so I place my sword in a position that serves me to defend myself or deflect her attack, depending on the situation.

Fiona's cut comes in just a few seconds, so I decide to defend myself from this blow and wait for the right moment to counterattack. Unlike in the previous fight, Fiona moves her body as if she were a gymnast dancing while her sword moves like a whip, forcing me to focus my eyes on her movements and prevent her from hitting me.

After a minute of defending myself, I take advantage of Fiona's failure and retreat momentarily, but as soon as I do, I move into an offensive position, ready to counterattack. At the same time, Fiona looks a bit exhausted from the continuous attacks I make.

Unlike the previous game, this one is on a completely different level, as if Fiona had flipped a switch to release her hidden power - perhaps she activated some ability without me noticing?

Even if I did, I can't prove it, so it's best to ignore that. Now I have Fiona tired. I should attack.

I start to run towards her as if intending to attack her, so she adopts a defensive position. When I am 1 meter away, I make my attack, but instead of defending herself, she moves her sword in such a way that she deflects my attack downwards and quickly counterattacks.

Meanwhile, in Fiona's mind, she thought that her plan was successful. In reality, she didn't use any skill. Her body reacts that way when she is in critical or stressful situations, which causes her reflexes to become faster. It's like when you are in a life or death situation and sees everything in slow motion.

In any case, she planned to attack in a somewhat savage manner and, after that, pretend that she was exhausted by the effort, which caused Marco to take advantage of that moment to counterattack, so she placed her sword in a defensive position to continue with her performance.

When she saw that Marco's sword was close to hitting her, she deftly swung her sword to deflect his attack and giving him the perfect opportunity to counterattack; now Marco was in a position where he had only two options: Defend or Deflect,

But contrary to what I thought of Marco, instead, I decided to use his position to perform a basic attack upwards. That way, I managed not only to counter his attack but also, due to the multiple swords that Fiona performed, the durability of his wooden sword was in a critical state, so Marco's blow made his sword split in half, making half of the blade flying through the air.

And barely a second later, the tip of Marco's wooden sword was 3 centimetres away from his neck. With that, round 2 was over.

Marco gets up from the floor and begins to say a few words to Fiona.

* *Smile* This was a good fight. Not only did you go on the offensive, but you also set a very clever trap for me. If it was someone else, I might be dead. By the way, if possible, practice with Theo. I would like you to

* Fiona: Very well, Mr Marco, I will *smile*.

* Perfect, remember not to go easy on him *smile*.

With that ended Fiona's match against Coach Marco, giving Coach Marco the winner, while the rest of the students who stayed to watch the fight were in a state of shock at such a display of moves, wondering if what they saw was a training fight or a life and death battle.
