Chapter 47: Separation
Edited by Arthur300000, Deathbricks and ArchmageNaoki
"...EEEP BEEP BEEP Brace for evasive maneuver! HOLY-" *TZZZ* A noisy sound from the intercom woke me up. I glance at the windows and see a glimpse of golden light peeking from the horizon. Suddenly, everything turned upside down.
A sense of weightlessness filled me, my cozy and warm blanket beginning to float. Luckily my body was strapped to the seat. I hugged Skynet tightly for fear of losing my porn stash. People are complaining in confusion all around. Someone also began to scream.
"What the heck-" *WHAM* Suddenly the zero gravity stopped. Then my weight started increasing rapidly. Bottles, trinkets, and whatever else that was floating came smashing down to the ground. Some bounced, and some rolled. *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* The annoying alarm from the intercom just made me panic even further.
*WHOOM* A flash of fire flew past my window. It's didn't hit or scratch the ship, but the heat that radiated from it felt like standing in front of an oven. [What the fuck is happening!]
"Take a deep breath!" My brother yelled from a few seats to my right. I took down a big gulp of air. Then It felt like my ass was being sucked down into the seat.
[The ship is taking evasive maneuvers Mistress. You are experiencing extreme G-force at the moment.] The digit flashed in my vision indicated 3.4G and raising rapidly.
The G-force suddenly jumped up to 6G. It made my arms feel a bit heavier, and my ass sank into the seat further. I saw quite a few people began to pass out here and there, and my sister looked like she was having trouble breathing. Shit, what should I do? A few moments later the G indicator went back to zero, and the ship began turning left and right violently.
*BARF* Vomit of several people began to fill the air. Those yellow balls of liquid look disgusting. But I don't have time to worry about that.
*WHAM* I look out of the window and saw the blue transparent shield covering the ship flickered and disappeared. A moment later, all hell broke loose.
*CRASH* A horn the size of a pillar tore the left wall apart. Debris and splinters flew at everyone. People with fast reflexes block the deadly shards with their magic just in time. Unfortunately, some were too slow, being grievously injured or killed.
The worse thing is that accursed horn is heading toward me. My mind went into overdrive, and there is the only thing I can think of to solve this predicament. I released my sister's seat belt and threw her to my brother. Then I immediately shout.
"FEIM!" Not a moment too soon, I turn into a ghostly insubstantial being. The left wall was gone. My seat was turned to shreds. Everyone in its path was reduced to minced meat. Blood and organs flew everywhere and mixed with vomit and flying debris producing a horrifying scene.
Everything felt like it was in slow motion. I'm stunned yet felt relief at the sight of my sister safely in my brother's arms. I saw that my sister was screaming something while my brother cast some kind of semi-transparent field to protect both of them. The wind is howling too loudly for me to make out what she's saying. I tried to reach for something to hold onto, but I drifted too far away from the cabin.
"Rule number one of telekinesis, action equal to the reaction." A tidbit of knowledge from my brother suddenly appears in my mind. I use my free hand to cast the telekinesis spell. If I pull the ship to me, that means the ship will also pull me to itself.
*WHOOOM* At the same time as the spell activate, the ethereal stage ended. It felt like I was hanged by a band of elastic rubber in a hurricane. The wind is buffeting me relentlessly. My warm cloak has turned into a new kind of torture device as it's trying to rip me to pieces.
*WHAM* I slammed heavily to the ship hull once, twice, three times. I winced at the pain each time. My vision turns blurry, and I think I saw a gray tunnel there. But I still hold on in the hope of going back to my family. Another searing hot ball of fire flying just over my head. It too hot and I think my hair is burning. Then the slamming stopped as Skynet said something about stabilizing. Right, Skynet...
[SKYNET! SHOOT AT THAT FUCKING THING! SHOOT WITH EVERYTHING YOU GOT!]
[Acknowledged, Mistress!] Magicka pool is depleting rapidly. My vision turns dimmer and dimmer, but at the same time sky got bright.
During the blinding light period, I didn't know if I'm hallucinating or not. I think Skynet is complaining something about the ambiguous order. If I remember correctly, she said: "that thing isn't fucking at all."
*GAAR!!* A scream of whatever came from behind pierces through the howling of the wind. It came at the same time as the searing hot shockwave that knocked me forward. I was spinning forward like a ragdoll, but I could still somehow control my direction. I'm just ten meters more from the hull opening.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Nine, eight, seven. I'm almost there. But the head of the ship began to shine brightly. I got a bad feeling about this.
Five meters left, the transparent blue light began to cover the ship from its head backward through its hull.
Three-meters, I tried my best to pull myself back inside even though I'm spinning like a top.
Two meters left my vision is too blurry, I think I'm gonna pass out.
One meter left, the blue light covered the part that I latch my telekinesis spell on.
Oh, shit.
*SNAP* My spell was cut like a thread over a candle. I try to reach for it, but my hand is too short, and my shout cooldown isn't over. I fall like a brick into the nothingness while spinning uncontrollably.
Then I lost consciousness.

.
[Energy pool regenerated to sufficient amount... Initiating aerodynamic static wall.] My vision was still dark, but I can hear Skynet talking in my mind. She drained the last drop of my Magicka, and I felt my spinning come to a stop.
.
.
.
*WOOOOO* My hearing came back a bit, but all I could hear was wind passing me. But for some reason, I don't feel the wind buffeting me anymore.
.
.
.
[Estimating time for impact... Activating the airdrop device in three, two, one.] *Pfft!* Soon after that, I felt my side touch something solid gently. I still groaned from the still present ache from when I slammed against the ship.
[Device kinetic energy dispersion spell deployed successfully. Analyzing mistress's vital signs... stable. Detected a sign of disorientation and grade three concussion. Her pupils don't respond to light. Detected severe inflammation and internal hemorrhage in multiple sites, minor burns and injuries all over the place.] That sounds disturbing even though she said stable.
[Waiting for enough energy to cast healing spell... Energy back to sufficient levels, casting.] A soothing feeling permeates my body. Soon afterward my vision came back, and the world was less shaky. I tried to stand up.
The first thing I noticed is I'm in a small crater, small flames flickering and dancing around its rim. Beyond that, there are grasslands and small hills around me. Large and small trees dotted sporadically all over the area. The sky is cloudy, I couldn't see the ship anywhere. I wear Skynet then I tried to contact everyone.
"Aunos, Pristia, Sophia... Anyone!" I used my short range communicator but got no response. I tried a few more times but still nothing.
"There is no internet or mobile signal here, mistress." Skynet told me before I even asked.
"Do you know where the ship is heading?" I asked her while climbing out of the crater. Ouch, the edge is searing hot, so I jump over it.
"It's difficult to tell after the evasive maneuver, mistress. But according to the flight plan, I think it's going that way" Skynet drew an arrow in my vision, pointing at some smoke rising on the horizon.
"Oi, please tell me that your spell caught that monster." I'm worried that smoke might be from the ship.
"It's a direct hit, but that lightning fury is too powerful. All I could do is give the ship a bit of time to escape."
"Gah! Is this supposed to happen?!" My first time adventuring, I was attacked by the group of bandits. The second time a horde of monsters chased me across the wasteland. This time a super strong monster called lightning fury trying to kill us all. Maybe I should stop adventuring altogether and try to make money by writing a blog or making a video channel instead.
[This is not supposed to happen, but I detected several monster signals in the area. I think the corrupted area is wider than they predicted. I suggest walking quietly to conserve energy mistress.] I also detect them after I calmed down a bit. I took out the staff after I sneaked away a bit further from where I landed because those monsters might notice me and come to investigate.
I move through the shadows quietly toward the column of smoke. However, sometimes my path cuts too close to a few of monsters. I opt to smash their head with the staff, store their corpses and then move on instead of avoiding them. I know, it’s safer to avoid them, or there is the more efficient method of killing them, but smashing them with a stick is providing some great relief for my stress right now.
[Mistress, may I ask you something? It's been bothering me for a while.] Skynet asked me after I creep behind a boar-like monster then beat it until it stops moving. Hmm, in term of close combat, this staff is inferior to the sword, it needs multiple strikes to bring down an enemy. However, it has the advantage of amplifying my spell.
[What is it?] I told her as I kill two smaller ones who just jumped out from the thicket with two ice spike magic. I originate the spell from under them and the spells hit with pinpoint precision. Those monsters didn’t even know what hit them. Skynet’s interference field also help immensely, her seven meters radius interference field gave me plenty of time to react.
[At that time, why didn't you let me go? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want you to, but if you let me go then, you would surely have reached the ship hull.] ... Oh, she's right. Less weight, less drag, the faster I pull myself to the ship. I was tempted to tell her something like, I'm kind or be grateful to me, but if I did that Skynet would call out my bluff in a matter of seconds.
[Umm, you know. It's my habit not to let go of what I'm holding. There was a time that I tripped over something in my living room. That time I held the remote control in my hand up high and my head was knocked with furniture instead. Hmm, if I remember correctly it was also my landlord that found me in a pool of blood a few hours later.] Skynet turns silent for a long while. Even after I finished storing the remains and moved on, she still says nothing.
[What is it, Skynet?] Curious, I asked her.
[Nothing. I was just lamenting my waste of processing power worrying when the answer is just that my mistress is stingy. Also, mistress, from now on, please keep your room tidy.]
... I can’t refute to that.
