Chapter 13: Disillusion

[Edited by: Arthur300000 & ArchmageNaoki]

[Deathbricks tagged along for the ride]

I have done it. I've done the second most reasonable thing a (virgin) man does when inside a girl’s body. Yup, I explored a public bath. Well, I admit I was so excited to be in the water with all these gorgeous girls in high school. Well, there are some gorillas in the mix but don’t mind the insignificant details. I couldn’t contain my excitement, so I started swimming everywhere. All those curves and floating buoys made this big bath a paradise on earth.

What about the strategic planning that just finished? Who cares! I let my nerdy brother do everything. The only thing I learned is that I am living in a word that much bigger than earth and people here are still not explored the entire world yet. Well, after I discovered the existence of high school's public bath from my sister, my mind was no longer there. I just nodded absentmindedly and stored all of my camping equipment. After the planning session finished, I just ran straight here while dragging my sister along.

“Who let this kid swim in here!” A gorgeous girl with the drill like hair picked me out of the water by my waist. By the look on her serious face, she’s a bit older than my sister. I don't like that she’s treating me like a kid. Well, I admit that I acted like a child there. But I am just so excited. It’s very normal for a former (virgin) nerd that I was you know!? However, when she held me close to her breasts, I didn’t seem to mind anymore. Her twin mounds of softness pushing against my back directly gave me a heavenly like feeling.

“Uhmm, actually she’s a student here, President.” One of my classmates with A cup and green hair tells her. Where is my sister? Well, in my excitement I swam too fast, so she’s still trying to catch up to me.

“Really?” Ms. Drill-hair-president flipped me and pushed me away from her breasts then began scrutinizing me with a serious look. I just noticed that her hair doesn’t have any water on it. Maybe she uses some magic spell to sustain her hairstyle while bathing. What about me dangling shamelessly in her arms? Well, I don’t mind anymore as long as it’s the beautiful girl who’s holding me. If it’s a guy, I will break his arm without a second thought.

“I’ve never seen you before, what’s your name and what’s your class?” Ms. Drill-hair-president asked me skeptically.

“Kuro, class 2B, I have just enrolled today.” I answered while distracted by the many bouncing boobs of the girls just leaving the bath. Flower viewing from this position is also nice~.

“Kuro-chan don’t swim away like that!” My sister finally managed to catch up to me. Well, sorry sister, in my defense I can't control my emotions very well as before in my current body. Thinking back, my life has been a emotional rollercoaster since coming to this world. I've tried to control my emotions, but they always get the better of me somehow.

“Well, as she said. Don’t swim in the bath again alright?” Ms. Drill-haired-president carefully put me back down. From my 30-years of experience, I should just nod meekly here. Well, I could be more cheeky, but that would just make me look even more childish. “Good girl” Ms. Drill-haired-president patted my head. I smiled not because of her hand but because of her alluring swaying huge breasts.

After that, I enjoyed the bath and sitting still in one spot as an adult should beside my sister. At least until I got dizzy, I can't stay in hot baths too long. I forgot that I have high cold resistance but not heat.

The dinner after is made of monster parts and meat of unknown origins. It was delicious, but it made my stomach feel weirder and weirder. Next time I will pack my food from home. Nevertheless, today was a good experience overall. I even dreamed about it afterward.

I woke up the next morning way too early. Playtime is over. Today I must fight monsters with an intention to kill for the first time in my life. To be honest, I'm feeling anxious about it. So I recheck my equipment and camping inventory. After that, I continue my study of new spell books that my brother gave me while in my unicorn dog pajamas.

After I was finished freshening myself up, I changed into the most combat oriented looking clothes I have in my possession. It looks like a black sports bra with a leather jacket and leather skirt. I test my movement with it a few times and found no obstructions with them.

Breakfast consisted of mostly monster parts and unknown plants. Maybe they are trying to familiarize us with ingredients found when adventuring in the wild. I'm not complaining about the taste, and I even began overeating a bit. But somehow those things made my stomach feel weird.

“This is a short range communicator. Just press the button to talk with everyone on the team. And don’t worry about using it when sneaking around, this device doesn’t generate any sounds, it sends the message directly to the brain.” My brother gave a bracelet-like device to me as everyone else was equipping themselves. I wore it on my left wrist and tested it a few times.

The trip to my team’s drop point took about an hour. Each team was assigned a different drop point along the way to spread the hunting ground evenly. We need to walk around another hour from the drop point quickly to reach our planned hunting ground.

“Why don’t we just use an armored vehicle equipped with some weapon?” I was curious. If this world is somehow technologically advanced, we should be fighting monsters with tanks, missiles or aircraft instead.

“It’s not energy efficient, Kuro. The government has those things, but it’s reserved for emergency situations only. If we use those to hunt the monsters, the energy we gain from the hunted monster cores would be less than what we use to operate those vehicles.” Huh? Don’t they have something like gasoline engines or gunpowder? So I asked my brother about those kinds of engines.

“Who would use those kinds of things? A well-placed spark spell inside the fuel tank would turn you to charred meat in no time. You could try to cover those areas up with an interference field, but it’s easier to break through the interference field with a small scale spell like a little spark.” My brother explained as a matter of fact. Maybe the existence of magic caused other branches of technologies to stop developing altogether.

“Then what about electric engines?” I tried to describe an electric motor with my limited knowledge to my brother.

“And where would the electricity come from? Magic? You know, if you convert magical power into other types of power, some of the energy will be lost. It’s more efficient to drive the thing with magic directly. And of course, a well-placed water spell inside the engine will make those things useless.” His answer seems reasonable, but something doesn't add up.

“Then what about street lights and those household equipment things. Where does the energy come from?” Yup, if all of those use monster cores for energy, wouldn’t that be wasteful? My brother went silent for a moment then answered.

“Do you know that this floating island is called [Black Dragon Island] right?” I nodded.

“It’s got its name because we captured the black dragon on this island. We opened it’s skull and we drain energy directly from its core.” He paused a bit and carefully watch my expression then continued.

“Normally monster cores will not get recharged if we extract it from monster bodies. However, if we harvest the energy from inside a living monster, we can drain power from its core indefinitely as long as it’s not over its energy generation rate. Moreover, it’s very efficient because it’s an ‘immortal class monster’ so we don’t need to feed it. As long as the core doesn’t separate from its body, the black dragon won’t die. All human cities are like this. We subdue an immortal class monster then build a city on top of it.” My brother shrugged and kept walking. Why PETA doesn’t protest against the government yet is beyond me.

Along the way, I could smell some wild animals, so I tried detect life spell, but I found nothing. Maybe be it’s because of those interference fields. I warned my teammates when I heard a lot of paw like footsteps running in our direction. Everyone drew their weapons, but what disturbed me the most is Sophia’s weapon. It looks like a pink scepter that Mahou Shoujo uses in an anime. I’m lucky that I am not an auxiliary device user. Otherwise, I would be depressed by wielding the “Love” scepter before I began to fight.

When the first thunder wolf ran through the thicket 50 meters away from me, I shot two normal bullets at it rapidly. The first bullet got blocked by something like a stasis field. However, the second one hit it directly from a different angle. The first wolf fell with the momentum that made its corpse skid eight more meters along the ground. At the same time, four more wolves just emerged from the trees.

I would consider this fight easy. Just a piercing bullet or two normal bullets would already drop one wolf. An explosive bullet is not really useful in this situation unless the wolves aggregated into groups. We dispatched 40 of them in less than 10 seconds. They didn’t even get to run away. After the battle, Sophia extracted all the wolf’s cores with a magic some spell in one go, and the cores were distributed evenly. It’s just a small light blue color core, so it doesn’t have much energy inside it. Maybe this thunder wolf is a beginner monster like a slime in some games. We walked deeper and deeper into the forest and left only the trail of destruction behind in the process.

Along the way, we one-sidedly slaughter hundreds of thunder wolves, hundreds of giant grasshoppers, tens of giant serpent monsters and a few humanoid monsters. However, after 3 hours of slaughtering, I sensed something was wrong.

The forest was too quiet, and my danger sense was blinking like a Christmas tree in my mind. I stopped and told my teammates to stay vigilant. However, at that moment I felt a change in air pressure, and I managed to avoid a sudden death. An immense air pressure that passed by my hair and pulled a few strands along with it. A sniper I concluded. My mind went into overdrive after that, and I heard several human footsteps running at us from several directions. The best course of action right now is to eliminate that sniper before their teammates could attack us. If the sniper manages to tie us down, we'll be taken out one by one.

Having decided what to do, I ran to the origin of bullet I sensed. I knew that bullet might come from the different direction from the sniper, but I sense that spell has high integrity because I couldn't block it by my interference field. So I deduced that the spell must be originated close to the sniper. While I deflect the second spell with my Wakizashi, a massive man with a giant hammer tried to intercept me. However, he was too slow, so I just cut him in half. The third shot grazed my leg a bit because I was too focused on trying to detect the heartbeat or breathing of the sniper that might be hiding in the bushes or on the tree. I found the sniper after a fourth shot was fired and dodged it with the whirlwind sprint shout with only single word 「Wuld」. It is better to use single word than entire shout in this situation because it’s faster to activate and doesn’t cause additional cooldown time. Then I rapidly emptied my magical energy by unleashing the explosive bullets on the sniper's location until I saw blood and organs flying from it.

I ran back to my teammates and saw them in a deadlock with five attackers. Spells and sparks flying everywhere and the sound of clashing weapons make it easy for me to sneak behind one of them and lob one of their heads off without being noticed. After I sent a few more heads flying the fight was over.

“Bandits! The staff should have scanned this area already! How could they have hidden here unnoticed by the staff?” My brother complained while inspecting the corpses.

I looked at their sprawling bodies and contemplated my feelings. I just gruesomely killed five people, so why don’t I feel something like remorse or guilt like an ordinary person should? A Few days ago I was just a starving 30-year-old shut-in guy who likes playing Skyrim. I'm not Thane of Whiterun or anything. Well, it’s just me with all the super powers. I don’t have the memories of my character or anything like that otherwise I wouldn’t know what is real and what is a game anymore. Nevertheless, I didn’t feel anything when I chopped their heads off. It just felt like killing another monster. Maybe my body is suppressing the negative feelings I should be, well, feeling right now. It’s complicated, so I stopped thinking about it.

“Kuro-chan are you alright? There’s a lot of blood on your leg!” My sister panicked ran to me. Huh? The third bullet should have just grazed my leg. At best it will just be a scratch there. There shouldn’t be much blood. I looked down and saw a lot of blood dripping down from between my legs. I paused for several seconds...

Oh shit! I got my period!
