Episode XXXIX- The Dragon Spirits Fighters Part III

Jax tumbled across the grassy field, the scales of his opponent glinting in the sunlight like polished yellow dragonhide. “Well, he's not quite as soft as he looks,” Jax quipped, scrambling to his feet. He settled into a fighting stance, eyeing the hulking Astra warily. They charged, fists colliding with the force of a thunderclap. Jax hurtled backward from the blow. As he rolled to a stop, Astra loomed closer, silent as the grave. “Can't believe he doesn't trash talk,” Jax muttered to Tethyus. “One of those quiet, lethal types.”

Jax began powering up, only for Astra to swiftly dart in and pummel him with a flurry of electrified kicks before he could finish. Astra stomped Jax into the dirt, then yanked him up by his collar for an uppercut to the gut. Jax wheezed, struggling upright. “Nice combo,” he grunted, bracing himself on one knee. Astra seemed unsatisfied, certain he could have executed it better. The air crackled as Astra summoned a corona of snapping yellow electricity. He compacted the sizzling sparks into a pulsating orb in his palm, then forced it into his fist. Jax flickered in and out of his Mitsukodorian mode, unable to stabilize the transformation. Astra unleashed the supercharged punch straight for Jax's face. He rolled frantically, the discharge still blasting him halfway across the field in its wake, his gi in tatters.

"Not good, I'm just trying to survive at this point," Jax panted, dashing in to grapple. Astra snatched his oncoming fist and slammed him earthward before kicking his ribs and battering him with a sparking sphere. Jax raised his arms to shield the assault. Seizing the opportunity, Astra punted the orb through Jax's guard and followed with a direct hit that smashed Jax into a tree. Astra turned his back as the tree erupted into flames. When the smoke cleared, Jax's eyes had shifted into blazing Mitsukodorian mode, dark sapphire griffin irises within electric sigils. Azure lightning wreathed his frame. "Huh?" Astra tilted from tranquil to manic. He charged, fists flying. The blows resounded like thunderclaps. Both fighters reeled back from the exchange. They hurtled together again, each punch landing like a meteor strike. The shockwave obliterated the crumbling homestead beside them.

Astra's gaze swept over the wreckage of what was once a grand coliseum, its broken pillars and crumbled stones now silent witnesses to their battle. As Jax ascended into the heavens, he was ensnared in a shroud of electric blue energy that crackled and sparked around him like a tempestuous storm.

"Prepare yourself!" Jax bellowed, his voice echoing through the ruins as he catapulted a searing orb of energy earthward with all his might.

With an air of serene focus, Astra raised his guard. His eyes were calm pools of unyielding resolve as he met the incoming attack head-on. He deflected the energy sphere skyward with a graceful arc of his arm, sending it hurtling back towards its creator.

Jax grimaced in effort, muscles straining against the force of his own redirected assault. But Astra was relentless. He drove forward, pushing the pulsating blast back at Jax with unwavering determination until it tore through Jax's gi like paper caught in a hurricane.

The battlefield came alive as other combatants rushed onto the scene, their eyes wide and awestruck at the spectacle unfolding before them. Wiley morphed into his spirit guardian form without hesitation; an imposing figure with horns lowered for battle.

But Astra dismissed him effortlessly, swatting him aside as if he were no more than a discarded ragdoll. Then, with an electrifying surge of power, Astra underwent his own transformation - morphing into an awe-inspiring hybrid thunder dragon.

Above them, clouds churned ominously while bolts of lightning snaked down from the heavens to course into Astra's draconic form. With each swing of his mighty claws or lash of his tail, fighters were sent sprawling across the battlefield until they lay defeated and breathless under Astra's overwhelming might.

"Need...more...power," Jax growled, shifting into his hippogriff spirit hybrid. He punched the orb back down, but Astra dodged, the detonation uprooting trees in a twenty-foot radius. Wiley wrenched his horns from the tree he'd crashed into. “That varmint will pay for what he did to Betsy here and me,” he fumed to Jax. They exchanged resolute nods, turning to face their foe together. But Astra was unconcerned by their teamwork. He called down more lightning as Wiley charged. At the last second, Wiley feinted and delivered a mighty uppercut with a bullhorn fist. Jax followed with a lighting fast talon kick to Astra's face, making him stumble. Wiley slammed Astra with an earthen kick, but Astra grabbed Jax's beak as he tried to smash him into the dirt. Hands skyward, Astra summoned a final devastating thunderclap. Wiley and Jax locked eyes, a wordless plan forming. As Astra slashed with sparking dragon claws, Jax evaded the strikes, predicting them with his enhanced senses. Wiley lined up his shot. "Super Move: Metal Horn Uppercut!" Wiley bellowed, his arm morphing into a gleaming bullhorn for a jaw-rattling impact.

In the midst of a tumultuous battle, Astra's body hung suspended in mid-air, her consciousness lost in the ether. Jax, with his heart pounding against his ribcage, sprang into action. He summoned an electric current that flowed like molten lava through his veins and into his claws. The air around him crackled with energy as he delivered a rapid-fire sequence of strikes against Astra's limp form.

With a deep breath, he prepared for his Super Move. "Lightning Gale Pulse!" His voice echoed across the battlefield as he conjured a sphere of intense wind and lightning. It pulsed with dark sapphire hues, reminiscent of the night sky during a thunderstorm.

With every ounce of strength he possessed, Jax thrust the electrified orb into Astra just as Tokido descended from above like an avenging angel. "Ultra Move: True Ghost Lighting Cannon!" Tokido bellowed out, fusing his own power with Jax's to create an even greater force.

Astra's form dissolved into wisps of cloud-like vapor as her sword clattered to the ground, gems scattering from its hilt like stars falling from the heavens. Exhaustion washed over Jax and he collapsed to his knees, his eyes fluttering closed as sleep claimed him.

Meanwhile, Sekel watched in fury as the gem that held Astra's essence disappeared from sight. His blood boiled within him and rage consumed him whole. "I'll finish those kids myself!" He snarled menacingly towards the unconscious heroes on the battlefield.

His body radiated with raw spirit energy that caused ripples in the air around him. As he scrutinized his map for their next location, Sekel seethed with determination. "Whoever is next," he growled under his breath, "will be nothing more than ashes under my feet."
