E130-Farewell

After completing the slow walk, Apolo arrived at the entrance of the mansion, where he observed how the reception doors were strangely wide open. Although the young noble could swear that the servants had closed the doors after entering the mansion to go to sleep as they did every night. Nevertheless, the young man's eyes did not deceive him, and the mansion doors were wide open, as if they were predisposed to welcome him for the farewell of his long journey.

Although it was most likely just the delirium of a man consciously walking towards his own death, Apolo felt that it was really beautiful to imagine that his own mansion, to which he had dedicated so much time, was accompanying him in the tragic decision he had made.

Upon arriving at the mansion, the three Gururis followed the order and went to their respective rooms. Meanwhile, Apolo slowly walked through the mansion's corridors to reach his bedroom. However, by a twist of fate, the young man noticed on the way that a servant had forgotten to close one of the doors of the rooms in the hallway leading to his bedroom.

So, slowly and leaning on his cane, even though no one was watching him anymore, Apolo approached to close the door. However, when he reached the door of the room, the young man glanced inside the room out of the corner of his eye and refrained from closing the door, instead, he stayed looking at the interior of the room for a few minutes, as if there was something he couldn't quite grasp about the inside of this room.

—Where is Princess Lorena?—Apolo asked with astonishment, looking at the scene in front of him. Indeed, this was the room where the dolls had tea parties, so there was a round table surrounded by benches where various dolls were having tea. However, the main character of this room, Princess Lorena, could not be seen anywhere.

Apolo curiously entered the room and searched for a while, but the truth was that he couldn't find the doll anywhere. So, the young man grew tired of carrying out his search and assumed that one of the pink Gururis had taken Princess Lorena to the treasure room.

—Well, I'm glad I made these rooms for them...—Apolo murmured, looking at the dolls on the round table with an ironic smile—I suppose in the end, Mr. Bear managed to find out about the plot Princess Lorena was brewing...

Resigning himself to the fact that it made no sense to rearrange the room if the Gururis were the ones who had changed it, Apolo turned around and carefully closed the room's door, fearing that the dolls inside would fall to the floor and the room would become even messier. Then, with the help of his faithful cane, the young man continued his slow march to his bedroom. As he approached, Apolo could admire how the door to his bedroom was strangely open, almost as if the room had been waiting for him all this time.

While enjoying his delusions in his inner world, the young man calmly entered his bedroom and closed the door, then he approached one of the many desks in his room and took a wooden box from one of the drawers.

Apolo sat down in the desk's chair and opened the box, revealing a couple of scrolls. Carefully, Apolo placed the silver mask and the book of his ancestor inside the box. Then, the young man took a blank scroll, an inkwell, and a pen, which apparently he had prepared a long time ago because they had some dust on them. Dipping the pen gently into the inkwell, Apolo proceeded to look at the blank scroll for a few moments before finally summoning the courage to write the words that had been swirling in his heart for many nights:

> "Dear Family:

>

> By the time you read this letter, I will already be in a better place, reunited with my father, grandmothers, uncles, cousins, and our beloved ancestors. However, I don't want you to feel sorry for me or to feel guilty for sending me to the capital: I am leaving this world because I have achieved everything I wanted in this life!

>

> The truth is that I had set myself a long time ago to end my misery, but the capital gave me more time to reflect and realize that many of my miseries were the result of my own mistakes. The capital gave me the wisdom to accept these mistakes differently and see them as the simple detours I took as I learned which path I wanted to walk in this life.

>

> This long journey called life made me understand that as a man of our family, I had to acknowledge my mistakes and fulfill the responsibilities I was born with. That's why I am leaving happily, knowing that I have solved my problems and learned from them, happy that I have realized my responsibilities and carried them on my shoulders until they were fulfilled.

>

> Since I arrived in the capital, I resumed the family's training, and I am leaving with the pride of dying as a true colossus of the Black Forest. Since I arrived in the capital, I fulfilled the last wishes of our ancestors, and I say goodbye with joy, knowing that they will be the first to welcome me when I arrive on my new path.

>

> I love you all, and I will always protect you as one of your ancestors, Apolo of the Black Forest"

The young man reread the letter for a few minutes, and when he had no doubts that these were the words with which he wanted to bid farewell, Apolo stored the letter in the wooden box and, giving one last look to the book he had obtained not long ago, he muttered with an ironic smile as he closed the wooden box:

—After all I did to fulfill your last wish, I hope you'll be the first to welcome me...

With his last words documented, Apolo opened one of the desk's drawers and took out a dusty metal box. With the metal box in hand, the young man took his cane and, just as slowly as before, proceeded to leave his bedroom and walk through the mansion's corridors in a particular direction.
