E102-Tracks

The two kids followed the guard's directions and entered the Black Forest in search of Helena. But after a few minutes of searching, they realized there was a slight problem.

—Where do flowers grow in this forest? I don't remember seeing an area like this...— Apolo commented, looking at the forest floor attentively. All he could see were fallen leaves, a lot of dry grass, some weeds, and occasionally, some not very colorful mushrooms growing on the tree bark.

—I think flowers grow near the creek, not many, but there are some— Homero replied, heading in a particular direction.

—Are you sure the creek is that way?— Apolo asked, a bit puzzled by Homero's confidence; he didn't remember ever coming across a creek in this area.

—Yes, I was here with Dad before— Homero confidently responded as he led Apolo in a certain direction.

It didn't take long for the two kids to finally hear the sound of water splashing against rocks in the distance.

—See, it's this way!— Homero exclaimed, running eagerly toward the source of the noise.

Apolo ran after his brother until he finally came across a rather beautiful creek. The grass around it was a vibrant green, and the rocks in the area were covered in moss. Unfortunately, Apolo didn't see any flowers anywhere, so he asked:

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

—Where are the flowers?

—Over here, they grow next to the rocks, they're small and hard to see— Homero replied, reaching between a couple of rocks near the creek and pulling out two beautiful, bluish flowers.

—They're very pretty, but I doubt they went out looking for something so tiny; you can't decorate anything with that— Apolo said, approaching a rock to see how indeed there were flowers growing on it.

—Maybe that's why they took so long to return, they had to collect a lot of these flowers to make the decoration— Homero replied, happily hopping among the rocks in the creek with an agility unusual for a regular child.

—Could be...— Apolo commented, checking the rocks—Do you see any rock from which they removed the flowers? All of these look brand new; it seems like they didn't come through this area.

—Hmm, let's see, let's look for a rock from which it seems like they recently removed the flowers— Homero said, getting to work—That way, we'll know which way Helena and the old lady the guard mentioned went: we just have to follow the rocks without flowers!

Apolo followed his brother's lead, and they searched for a while among the stones by the stream until the big-nosed boy finally found a stone from which it seemed the flowers had been removed.

—This way, it's this way!—Apolo exclaimed, seeing that his brother's idea had been quite good, and indeed, all the stones facing south had their flowers plucked.

—Let's go! Hurry, or they might finish the task and return to the castle before we find them. If that happens, we'll be searching for nothing itself for hours!—Homero said hurriedly as he ran in the direction indicated by his older brother.
