Wa'rak's whole body shuddered with unimaginable might as he pulled his paw out of the gibbous moon abomination's head. The mimic had put up a good fight, but Wa'rak fought better.
After all, one who had nothing to lose could never compare to one who stood to lose all.
You have slain evolved gibbous moon abomination: Crimson Mimic
Wa'rak grunted in response as he promptly ignored the notification he received. He already knew that that abomination was a mimic, no need for the system to clarify it. The fact that it was an evolved abomination was a bit of a surprise though.
Another thing he had not expected was his innate ability evolving. Evolving an innate ability was not a common thing, not at all. For him to be able to choose to evolve his innate ability meant that the system had deemed his goal of killing that mimic enough to allow theevolution, which was not a common thing. Normally one had to achieve something before they could evolve, but Wa'rak as able to evolve before he achieved his goal.
Wa'rak's whole body brimmed with power, his muscles throbbing under his pitch black fur. In his entire life, he had never been so powerful. Even in the past when he would have to spends days before any upcoming battle constantly moving to build up momentum, he never had as much as he currently had.
He had no idea the amount of times be actually hit the mimic when he was trying to break through the crimson mist armour, his paw had turned into a rapid blur that slowly got redder and redder as the abominations armour got more and more destroyed.
Even now, Wa'rak had not stopped moving. His body was struggling to keep itself running. Wa'rak had to keep hopping on each foot to keep the momentum he had accumulated. It felt like his body wasn't able to sustain all the momentum he currently had. He knew he was pushing himself, but what other choice did he have?
Glancing around the still raging battlefield, Wa'rak couldn't help but have his heart swell in anger.
All around him, the dead bodies of countless beasts lay scattered, various wounds decorating their corpses. Some had deep cuts on their hides and had their insides spilling out, others just simply had their heads ripped off. It was a horrible sight.
But there was one upside to the situation though.
At the epicentre of the tide of abominations, a single woman was holding back all of the disgusting creatures. Her eyes flickered with purple bolts of lighting as the sides of her hands chopped through abomination flesh as efficiently as a blade could.
Countless abominations tried to attack the woman Kai rescued, but none managed to actually get near her. Even quarter moon abominations were struggling to get close. Every abomination in her vicinity bodies trembled as her fear was imposed upon them, slowing their reactions and weakening them, if not outright killing them.
But the gibbous moon abominations were smart, they went for the weaker prey. They had no pride, crescent moon after crescent moon beast fell to their various attacks.
Wa'rak couldn't stand it, he hated it. He had to do something about it. He had to change the tides of the battle, to relieve some of the pressure that the army was suffering from.
Luckily, he had killed the mimic. Now... Now he could go all out.
Growling, Wa'rak slowly started breaking into a sprint. Each step was torturously slow as he allowed his body to get used to all the momentum that was powering it, he wasn't used to having this much after all.
A crescent moon abomination jumped at him while he was getting ready, Wa'rak simply slashed at it and hit it four times in a fraction of a second. The weak abomination's body exploded into various bits, then fell onto the grass beneath Wa'rak.
Wa'rak got faster and faster. He had the momentum but he needed to pace himself, to understand what he was doing.
Then, out of the corner of his yellow eyes, he saw another one of his kin die.
Wa'rak lost it.
Rage overwhelmed him as he let loose all the momentum he had accumulated over the last minute. He didn't need to pace himself, he needed to kill. His kin was precious, they were always there for him. He had to pay them back for everything they had done for him, otherwise he wouldn't be able to stand himself.
Wa'rak always paid back his debts after all, no matter the cost.
The pitch-black wolf's after image shivered as he pounced from where he was. A moment later, an abominations body exploded without reason, followed by another, and another... and another.
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
One after the other, abominations bodies from all over the grim battlefield started exploding without being hit by anything, their bodies splattering everywhere and even decorating some humans who could only watch in shock.
But it wasn't enough, Wa'rak couldn't kill them quick enough. There was just too many of them. Even with the black haired woman drawing their wrath, it just wasn't possible unless Wa'rak had more momentum, more strength, more-
An idea formed in the growling wolf's head as he launched himself at one of the trees in the area. Within a split second of hitting against the sturdy bark of the tree, Wa'rak tensed his legs and jumped in the opposite direction.
Wa'rak continued to bounce off more and more trees, killing any abominations that got in his way in the miniscule time he spent in the air. He was like a slingshot, only he didn't have to reload after every shot.
Wa'rak just kept going, his body turning into a blur as he continued to bounce off every tree.
More and more momentum started accumulating inside him, making the arrogant wolf growl in pain. His body felt like it was on fire, his muscles threatened to burst at any given movement, his bones threatened to give in at any time, his eyes threatened to pop out of his head.
But Wa'rak did not stop, he only grew faster and faster.
Tree after tree, Wa'rak used the solid bark of the gargantuan lifeforms as springboards to make himself even quicker.
His whole body was a blur at this point, like a bolt of black lightning that killed anything that dared get in its way.
Wa'rak hit off a tree branch and launched downwards, crushing a quarter moon abomination under his body before using its pulverised corpse to push himself towards another abomination. A fraction of a second later, the next abomination was crushed and Wa'rak was using it to reach another tree.
He only continued to get even faster, more and more abominations falling to his claws and jaw. The black bolt of lighting that Wa'rak had become signified death for any abomination that got struck by it, they were all demolished by Wa'rak's immense might.
Eventually, nowhere was safe from the black bolt of death. Wa'rak was able to bounce from one side of the battlefield to the other, that was how quick he had gotten. With each time his paws landed on or touched something solid, he used Null Impact as many times as he could without his body imploding on itself from overexertion.
The whistling of Wa'rak's grew louder and louder as he catapulted between various trees, and so did the cracks upon his impact against said trees.
Humans couldn't help but stop and watch in awe, causing a few of them to die, as Wa'rak continued to grow quicker.
It was incredible. They couldn't even make out the shape of a wolf at this point. All they could see was a misty black bolt that evaporated anything it came in contact with. Nothing stood a chance against it.
Even Wa'rak's own body was losing to it.
Wa'rak felt like his whole body was about to shut down. His heart was beating much faster than it ever had previously. His whole body was burning, his eyes were stinging, his bones were creaking, his organs felt like they were about to burst. But Wa'rak did not stop. He was going to keep his promise and kill every abomination present.
As he bounced off the bark of all the trees around him like a ball in a pinball machine, Wa'rak's body inevitably started failing.
Blood followed closely behind him, seeping through small cracks in his shadow armour as his muscles burst, giving the already terrifying black bolt a red highlight, further amplifying the horrifying image as abominations continued to be massacred with no trouble.
One of Wa'rak's legs bent at a weird angle as he crashed against one of the trees, but he only let out an enraged howl and ignored the pain.
At this point, it was nearly impossible to keep track of Wa'rak. The only way you could even tell where he was was by the rapid bangs whenever he hit against a tree or abomination. The wolf was like a machine gun with how quickly he hit against anything possible, only unlike a machine gun, Wa'rak did not need to reload.
Dozens upon dozens of abominations were killed by the supersonic bolt in a single second, that number only growing larger as time went on.
All around, humans could only watch in awe. The horrible abominations that they had been struggling to fight were being massacred.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, but in reality was only about thirty seconds, Wa'rak started slowing.
After killing a gibbous moon abomination with a single blow, Wa'rak suddenly came to a halt in the middle of the battlefield.
The armoured wolf's body was in ruin. Everything was going wrong inside him, everything felt like it was failing. Everything except his mind, which was inwardly grinning.
"Wa'rak..." The boar that made fun of humans that day in the war meeting slowly made its way towards the wolf that was still being covered by the shadows. The mud armour on the boars body was cracked and chipped in most places, some worse than others, but overall it was fine.
"That was incredible! What did you do?"
Looking around at the scene surrounding them, it was understandable why the boar was so shocked, in fact everyone was, because what Wa'rak had done was just that astonishing.
In the thirty seconds where Wa'rak became the personification of death, he managed to kill ninety percent of the remaining abominations. The even crazier fact was that most of the remaining abominations were only crescent moon ones, meaning Wa'rak had killed majority of the gibbous and quarter moon abominations all by himself.
"Wa'rak-"
The boar was cut off as a golden shockwave made him fall onto the ground, a few few more chips created in his mud armour from the impact of the golden force. But the boar didn't care, he could only widen his eyes at the sight before him.
Wa'rak did not flinch nor move at the golden shockwave, he remained standing proudly as the shadows that had taken the form of a suit of armour started turning tangible once more and rising into the air, creating a small shield over the no longer pitch black wolf, casting shadows over his ruined body.
The boar, and every other beast that was still alive, couldn't help but feel overwhelming sadness as they gazed at Wa'rak.
On the wolf's body, his fur, which had been a pristine black just a few minutes ago, was slowly turning white.
The boar couldn't help but feel tears well up in its eyes at it let out a heartbroken grunt.
"Wa'rak..."
In fact, it was majority of the beasts that had the same reaction as the boar. Wa'rak had always been there, leading the charge of any conflict he had been alive for.
And now... He was gone.
That day, under the shadows that answered his call and would allow him to bring new life into the world...
Wa'rak died standing.
