Garden of Ethania (100)

Garden of Ethania (100)

Every single tree in the vicinity reacted to Failure's skill as their gargantuan bodies all started shuddering violently. The ground shook intently as countless trees started moving.

The tree tops that had been constantly protecting the being under it from the torturous sunlight of the cursed moon all gave in, their branches swinging wildly. Moonlight immediately started infiltrating the gaps in the shifting tree tops, the image looking like a pure white kaleidoscope.

The branches of countless trees all started intertwining together as some trees even started rising out of the ground.

Cracks as loud as gunshots continued to erupt throughout the vast open area as trees burst out of the ground, their bodies groaning from the fact it was the first time they had moved in possibly thousands of years.

The forest continued to weave together as it rose higher and higher into the air, moonlight still slipping in the gaps.

But Failure paid it no heed as he closed his eyes and concentrated on creating his masterpiece, something he knew inside and out. He had been there for a long time after all.

The countless trees all started sticking together as the shape they were making finally started forming. The foundation was laid, and the higher up the wall of trees and bark went, the more it started to curve. The branches and tendrils weaved together into countless thick braids as the creation rose higher and higher.

More and more of the moonlight that was slipping through the cracks was purged as the trees entagled themselves to support themselves.

After another few moments, the sound of constant cracking came to a halt as the thing the trees were trying to form was completed.

Failure slowly rose higher into the air until he was in the center of his creation, his gaze aimed coldly at the Demon who was still confined to the ground.

Surrounding Failure was a wooden dome of immense size, completetly created out of the trees of the forest.

When he said to Kai that he had no trump cards remaining, it was technically a lie, but wasn't at the same time. He had this one saved, but he was much to weak to even use the skill in the state he was in, the only reason he even had the chance now was because he was currently possessing Kai's body.

"Demon" Failure spat coldly as he lifted his wooden sword above his head, the tip aiming at the roof of the newly created dome.

"You have lived for too long. Your existence is not one that should have even happened in the first place. You were created for the sole purpose of the destruction of this forest, but what gives your perverted lord the right to decide if we should be destroyed or not?"

The Demon chuckled darkly as it looked up at the floating Failure. It shook its hideous head softly before answering:

"Who am I to question the Lord? His will is all that matters. I am his loyal executioner, nothing will change that.

But what? You created some pathetic dome out of your weak trees and now think you stand a chance against me? And you even trapped that wretched wolf in with all the other weaklings, you truly are a failure."

Failure's eyes lit up with a mad glee as he smiled darkly.

"That's where you're wrong, foul Demon. You think it's me that doesn't stand a chance? Well I think it is you that doesn't understand the situation that they are in. After all, this dome that I created...

This is my domain."

Of course, there was another reason that Failure had to make sure that Aldred remained out of the way, a very valid reason at that.

The skill he had used had effectively made it so that Failure had the advantage, he could make use of any part of the surrounding dome after all. But there was also a second function to it, one that was much more powerful that just being a useful wood supplier.

It's method of attacking.

The only problem being that other than Failure, everyone inside the dome was considered an enemy.

Luckily, the only person in the dome other than Failure was an enemy.

"Purge"

Failure swung his blade downwards like a guillotine about to decapitate its victim as the whole dome came to life.

Peices of wood from the dome broke off and started floating in the air, their forms rapidly changing shapes on the fly.

Balls created from wooden Mana affinity, wooden stakes, arrows, swords, axes, spears, maces, tendrils that varies in size from a thread of wire to the trunk of a small tree. In the air all around the dome, countless things were being created every passing moment.

Even along the ground, countless wooden shapes of various different animals came to life as they all respectively charged at the Demon.

Everything followed Failure's blades command as all the wooden creations instantly started flying straight at the Demon.

Tendrils rose from the ground and wrapped themselves all around the Demon's body while small wooden pellets were rapidly fired at the hideous full moon abomination from afar like a minigun.

Each of the wooden weapons that were created plunged themselves at the Demon in an attempt to cut into its atrocious looking body.

The arrows and stakes moved the quickest as the Demon managed to deflect the initial blows with the body of the full moon abomination axe that was currently being held by two of its four hands. The attacks had to be blocked as the Demon was still entangled by countless vines, unable to move.

But since it blocked the initial blows, that left it open to the follow up attacks.

A wooden sword flew down low, chipping away some of the flesh on the Demon's ankle as it managed to cut into it a small bit. An arrow managed to dig itself into the broad back of the full moon abomination, its tip stuck in deep.

That was only two of the hundreds of attacks that were inflicted upon the Demon, that was how many items had been created inside the dome.

The Demon could only manage to block so many attacks, it was physically impossible for it to block them all.

Sadly, with its keen intuition, it was able to figure out which attacks would be the most dangerous if they were to connect with him and was able to successfully manage to block them while willingly taking damage from the attacks it knew were of a lesser priority of dodging.

But even though it tanked the less dangerous attacks, there was still enough of them to make them dangerous enough combined.

Countless blades, arrows, stakes, axes and small holes created from the wooden bullets that were being fired off, even now they still were, adorned the Demon's body. Each weakening it minorly, but the damage added up.

The Demon, enraged at what Failure had just done, roared in outrage as it gripped some of the various weapons sticking out of its body with its two free hands and hastily yanked out anything that was still stuck inside its body.

But Failure didn't give it the time to do that. After he had released his onslaught of attacks, he had already resigned himself to fighting the Demon head on.

Of course, even now, more weapons and other various things that could deal damage were constantly being created throughout the dome, not letting up on the assault.

But creating things took time, so Failure would buy that time.

Failure's wooden sword swung down to try and cleave off one of the Demon's four arms, but it managed to react quickly and block the attack with the edge of its axe.

Neither weapon gave into the other, but they both reacted violently to the powerful clash. Failure felt his bones reverberate when the Demon blocked his blow, so he could only hope something similar had happened to the full moon abomination.

Reacting quickly, Failure slid his sword along the edge of the axe and switched the way he was holding it on the fly. He then promptly tried to stab the Demon in its exposed stomach, but it managed to deflect the blow once more, but not without suffering another wooden arrow to its shoulder in the process.

Failure's current plan was just to constantly damage the Demon over time, slowly weaken it so that it wouldn't even be able to fight back. Of course, Failure would love to just utterly decimate it, that would make for quite the fitting revenge, but alas, he did not posses the strength to do that.

But there was two problem with Failure's current plan, those problems being that Failure was on a timer, while the Demon was not. Failure wasn't even sure if he had enough time to weaken it enough so that Aldred could secure the win, let alone kill it himself, but he was at least going to try.

The hideous full moon abomination axe and the plain looking sword turned into a high-speed blur as the two weapons continued to intently strike one another, neither side letting up or giving the other side the advantage.

Sadly, that wouldn't last for long.

It could be said that the Demon really only had two aspects to its power. One, raw strength, and two, its aura. The thing is, only had one of those things considering that Failure countered that aura that had managed to attack all the humans and beasts present.

But that was only one part of its aura.

Letting out an enraged roar once more, the Demon flared its aura and knocked all projectiles that were currently flying at it off course. The demonic and savage aura spread throughout the dome, even impacting the creation of some of the newer items, making swords blunter or arrows duller.

The worst of its aura was directed at Failure though, catching him off guard. He managed to lift his arms in time to block majority of the powerful force, but when he heard a small, almost inaudible crack from within Kai's chest...

That's when Failure knew time was running out.
