Kai watched the scene that was supposed to heartwarming with panic in his eyes.
He watched as a small girl jumped into John's single remaining arm, ecstatic to see her father after so long apart from him. John had previously said that his daughter would be around eight, and she definitely was. Her hair was a bright blonde but was less captivating than the gorgeous locks of the angel. She had a little bit of fat in her cheeks and was wearing the basic robes that had been offered to everyone in the white room.
John quickly reacted and embraced his daughter in a hug, tears threatening to well up in the big man's eyes.
It was a nice sight, a beautiful one even, but Kai was worried. Petunia had interrupted the angel while she was speaking and was now wasting even more time. If the angel really was secretly a massive bitch... Surely she wouldn't punish a child...
Close behind Petunia, another man made his way up to John. This man looked to be quite old, at least fifty. His hair had already turned gray, and so had his neatly trimmed beard. Somehow, the man had gotten his hands on a military uniform and wasn't wearing the robes that they had been offered, but that only gave the man an aura of authority.
Instantly, John recognised the man and softly put his daughter down. He stood up straight and looked at the gray haired man, lifting his single remaining hand to his forehead and saluting.
"Colonel Myers."
The gray haired man nodded back at John, glancing down and acknowledging that John was missing an arm.
"Liutentant Jones. Strange circumstances we are meeting under."
Kai just watched the impromptu reunion with a look of shock on his face. The angel was just about to finish up this portion of the tutorial, but she wasn't doing anything.
In fact, when Kai looked up at her, it was almost as if she was enjoying this little chat between John and Colonel Myers, as if she knew something entertaining was about to happen.
John lowered his hand and nodded back at the Colonel, quickly asking:
"Colonel, were you with my daughter?"
Colonel Myers nodded as he glanced down at Petunia, who was holding on tightly onto her father's thick leg, not wanting to let go.
"I was, we ended up in the same so called tutorial, your wife was there too-"
John's face lit up as a look of relief appeared in his eyes. Smiling, he sighed in relief and said:
"Thank god... So, where is she? Is she near here?"
The Colonel looked down at the ground and grimaced, not being able to look John in the eyes any longer.
"I'm sorry Lietentant, by the time I got there... it was too late."
John's face paled as his eyes widened. His fingers trembled and he looked like he would fall over at any moment.
"W-what do you mean? Colonel, where's my wife?"
The Colonel continued looking at the ground, a look of genuine guilt on his face.
Suddenly, the angel burst out laughing. Quickly, she composed herself and used her hand to hide her mouth, but a few giggles still managed to escape.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
"I can answer that one for you as you also had quite the performance towards the end of your tutorial. You see, your wife and child's tutorial was not quite as pleasant as some of the other ones, and neither were the people she ended up meeting.
No no, your wife had to go through quite a lot towards the end of her life to keep your daughter safe, quite a lot of..."
The angel stopped speaking and made a circle with her mouth before lifting her hand and putting her fingers in a circle, she then moved her hand back and forth in front of her mouth, as if she was making the gesture of someone sucking a-
Kai's stomach dropped as he realised what the angel was getting at.
"Actually, quite a lot would be an understatement. She had to keep a good few people entertained incase they attempted to try anything with your precious daughter. I could show the clips, but I would probably get in trouble if I did, so I won't. Still, you get what I'm getting at, right?
I'm sure you do, you were in the army back on your home planet, I'm sure you've seen your fair share of messed up situations. Which is surprising, as our VIP spectators enjoyed watching that scenario play out, then enjoyed hearing her plead, hearing her beg, hearing her scream."
John's face had slowly been turning red with a mix of rage and heartbreak the whole time the angel had been speaking. How could that bitch make light of something like this? What sort of sick, twisted, demented being was she?
"What the hell are you saying! Are you saying people paid to see my wife die? Are you fucking insane-"
The angel's aura increased as she smirked softly, her eyes gleaming with malice.
"And that's enough of you."
She then clicked her fingers, and just as John's body was meant to implode, a wave of blinding silver light enveloped him as a loud bang of a hammer rang out, echoing throughout the whole white room with no problem and stunning everyone present, making them grip their ears.
The angel froze.
John was gone from where he stood, leaving Petunia hugging nothing but air.
That wasn't her doing. She was going to kill him, not teleport him somewhere.
The angel's face turned red in anger as wrinkles formed on her once beautiful face, showing how furious she was.
"That old bastard! How dare he take from me! Fine, keep that muscle brained bastard, see if I care. I'll get you back for that."
Everyone's sight and hearing after being blinded and stunned started returning to normal, all of them hearing the angel complaining before they could see her.
Petunia's eyes widened as her bottom lip trembled. Why was her father gone again? She couldn't even begin to understand why, and her mother had always told her to never enter the room she was 'working' for those men in, no matter how loud the screams got.
Miserably, Petunia made her way back to Colonel Myers side, a solemn look on the gray haired man's face.
Everyone remained silent after that.
Noticing everyone's gaze on her, the Host giggled and waved her hand.
"That was nothing, just a little mishap that I'll have to deal with once this is all over.
Now, back to business. Now, all of you will be sent to the tutorial shop where you will have thirty minutes to make your choices on what you want to buy.
There will be a variety of items for sale and an option for any price range. I hope you all make good purchases and I hope that I won't have to see any of you for another few millenia."
And with that, the enchanting smile that had been on the angel's face disappeared, replaced with a disgusted scowl. She opened her mouth but no sound came out, she censored herself the same way she had censored some of the clips in the montages of all the rankings, but Kai knew that she was cursing.
Then, a beautiful wave of white light blinded everyone as the angel vanished from where she had been floating.
And for the first time in the few hours that all three million of these people had been in this gargantuan white room...
There was silence.
Then, they were all gone.
Kai blinked as he noticed that his surroundings had completely changed, replaced by not a padded white room, but just a white room with no padding.
In the cente of the room was a small wooden stand that looked like the kind of stand a child would run a lemonade stand with, definitely not the type that an official tutorial shop should be set up in.
Kai didn't even bother moving, he was too busy thinking about what the hell had happened. He had just been ecstatic that he had gotten first place and those extra rewards, but all of that joy was sucked out of him after finding out one of his parents had died and watching John go through that.
Kai hoped that no one he knew would ever have to go through anything like that and he wished John the best of luck. That angel was definitely a bitch, someone didn't even need eyesight to know that.
Even having people pay to watch John's wife like that... How despicable were the worlds that Kai had the possibility of ending up in?
Kai sighed as he shook his head, he could wallow in despair and complain after this, he was on timer after all. He had to spent his points first, then worry.
So after composing himself enough to think properly, Kai started walking towards the run down wooden stand.
