The Host (125)

The first thing Kai noticed was the noise. Instantly, he was overwhelmed by the sound of footsteps, shouting and any other noise that could be produced by a mouth.

Someone hit into Kai's back, then another hit into his side, threatening to knock him over. Obviously, this didn't come to be as Kai had over one hundred Strength, making it pretty hard to knock him over.

Looking around, Kai couldn't help but be confused as he realised he was surrounded by a sea of people. Men, women, children, some just wearing the basic robes that that had even given and some like Kai who were wearing their own gear that they must have obtained in the tutorial.

It was impossible to see the end, it was just human heads as far as Kai could see. Just how many people were here? It was at least in the hundreds of thousands.

The roof and walls in the far distance were the only other things Kai could make out. However, to his dismay, the current environment looked like a jumbo sized version of the white room. The roof was much, much higher and the padding on the walls were about four times bigger than they were in the basic white room.

People continued to scramble and shout like mindless chickens who had no idea what was going on. Kai couldn't blame them, after all, this place faintly reminded him of a slaughterhouse, not a nice feeling.

Just as things were about to take a turn for the worse as people were about to start going mad, a figure appeared in the air above the gargantuan crowd.

And Kai couldn't help but gasp.

She was the most beautiful woman Kai had ever seen, even more so than that form the Ever-changing had taken on in their first meeting. Kai thought that nothing would be able to top that, but how wrong he was.

Her hair was golden like the sand on a beach and reached down to her perfectly proportioned hips, which managed to draw the eyes of a lot of the people in the crowd.

Her breasts were the perfect size, only covered by a gorgeous dress that the woman was wearing. It was an exquisite piece of clothing that was a light shade of white that flowed down her perfect body down to her ankles, but there was a slit up the side of one of the legs that revealed even more of her pale skin.

The dress had a gap in the middle in the shape of a v, revealing her inner sideboob and had quite a few of the people in the crowd gawking. Her arms were not covered by the dress, it simply stopped at her shoulders and showed off some more skin. Showing arms was definitely not something that could be considered lewd, but somehow it felt just that when you gazed upon that being's arms.

She managed to draw everyone's gaze in an instant. She was the epitome of beauty, the literal incarnation of attractiveness.

However, how perfect her body was was not the most shocking part of her appearance. No, even though Kai was a man, he actually found it quite easy to peel his eyes away from her perfect body to the two things that were attached to her back.

Even though Kai couldn't see the back of her dress, he could see the two magnificent wings that spread out behind her. They were covered in countless feathers and were a heavenly shade of white.

Whatever this woman was, she was definitely not human. An angel? Maybe, but Kai was too starstruck to think straight. Even Nonchalance couldn't do anything to help him, it was exactly like the time he first met The Ever-changing.

But there was another part of her appearance that had Kai in awe. Instead of being able to see her eyes, the floating woman wore a white blindfold to cover them, almost as if she didn't want to accidently hurt anyone by letting them peer into her eyes.

If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

Or she just didn't deem them worthy enough.

Near instantaneously, the vast expanse of humans fell silent as they gazed upwards, dazzled by the beautiful floating woman. Their eyes shone as a collective gasp rang out.

The floating woman simply smiled as she brought her hands together in a soft clap, but that one smile was enough to charm the hearts of basically present.

"Six months, twelve days, seven hours, two minutes and forty-seven seconds."

Her voice was as angelic as her appearance, captivating everyone present. The words she spoke echoed far and wide with an unprecedented amount of grace. If the Demon's voice was like a cheese grater to the ears, then this woman's was the exact opposite. She was like an angel who had descended from heaven to grace the mortal realm with her presence, and no one wanted to say no.

"That is how long it took for you wondrous participants to complete your tutorials. By no means is it the slowest, but it is also definitely not the quickest. Still, be proud of yourself and give yourself a round of applause."

The angel smiled as the hands of everyone present started clapping, thousands upon thousands ringing out all over the vast area. Even Kai himself could not resist, finding himself panicking as his hands started moving against his own will. With each passing second, the rate at which he clapped sped up, only causing him to panic more. He could feel that familair cold gnawing in the back of his mind that indicated a mind attack, but String Mind could do nothing against it. Just how strong was this heavenly woman?

But that was only one of the reasons that Kai was panicking, the other was the amount of time it had taken to complete the tutorial. Was he to believe that he had spent a whole four months all by himself in that white room before meeting Noelle? How did that even make sense, it didn't feel like four months had passed at the time, it was just too confusing. How the hell had he not gone crazy in the process? Being alone for that amount of time definitely had to do something to someone's mind.

But even with all those thoughts, Kai couldn't stop his hands from clapping. The clapping continued to get louder and quicker, it was starting to sound like a helicopter starting up with how many people were doing the act.

Just like everyone else, he too had been enchanted by the angel's beauty. He wanted to do anything she asked, to become her slave, to lay down his life for her in return for nothing, to-

The angel held up a finger and the clapping suddenly stopped. Instantly, Kai gasped as he felt that whatever was controlling him had left, the angel had retracted her presence.

Yet Kai couldn't help but tremble. There had to be hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people here, yet she had controlled them all so effortlessly. Gender or age didn't even matter, everyone obeyed her will. Just what the hell was she?

The angel smiled sweetly as the crowd fell silent once more, managing to enchant them again with just her smile.

"It is nice to meet you all by the way, sharing names seems like an unnecessary endeavor so you can just call me The Host."

Why did her tone almost sound as if she was looking down on them?

"It has been a while since we had such incredible participants. The skills you have shown and your growth is something that will not go unnoticed, especially when the bidding starts."

Kai froze.

The bidding? What-

However, unlike Kai who was extremely interested in what the hell she meant by that, the angel simply just changed the subject with another smile.

No one questioned her.

"All of you showed some extraordinary abilities, abilities that are sure to help you grow in the future.

And with the help of those abilities you have even graced with, all of you managed to obtain classes, stats, skills, items and points that you will be able to spend after we finish here."

The eyes of everyone present started to light up. They would he able to spend their points after this? What would they be on offer? What would they be able to buy? Would there be a cute shopkeeper?

It seemed that Kai was the only one who was wary of the whole thing.

However, he knew that it was impossible for him to be the only one that was wary, there had to be others in the endless crowd. It was just that all the people around him were too easily enchanted, it was almost as if it had been planned out this way.

"However, there were some of you that managed to have exceptionanal performances, performances that deserve a special place and a special prize. Be it raising the dead, single handedly assassinating high profile targets that had been messing with a kingdom for millenia, fighting a dragon or even managing to destroy the whole tutorial and making it have to end early, there truly was some spectacular shows."

The angel smiled once more, but Kai couldn't help but get the feeling that the smile reminded him of a farmer about to sell their livestock for a large price.

She then lifted up her arm and gestured to one of the massive walls of the ginormous white room.

"So why don't we have a look at the top ten of all the tutorials?"
