Chapter 10: Shop

As I arrived at the entrance of my house, I quickly deactivated my Spider-Man suit, I wasn't going to walk through the front door looking full superhero attire like some clueless amateur.

"I said, 'inventory'," I muttered to myself, prompting the system.

Suddenly, a transparent window appeared before me, displaying my inventory:

Inventory List:

{Bag}

{Spider-Man suit}

[You probably wonder why I have a bag. Well, I put it in my inventory off-screen before making excuses to my mother and father before heading to the secluded forest. And yes, it's because of this bag that I have a paper that I can write for the police. Well, it's the author's fault for not putting this scene in.]

(Author: I'm really sorry about that!)

{Anyway, back to the story}

With a mental command, I deactivated my inventory interface, clearing it from view as I stepped into my house "Home sweet home," I murmured to myself before announcing, "I'm home!"

My mom greeted me warmly, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Welcome back, sweetie. How was your day? Did you and Mark manage to make a lot of money?"

"Um, yeah, Mom," I said, feeling a bit guilty for not telling the whole truth. "I gave all the money to Mark." It wasn't true, but I didn't want to stress her out with the details of my secret Spider-Man stuff.

"Oh, I see," she said, nodding understandingly. "Well, if you're hungry, dinner will be ready soon."

"Thanks, Mom, later," I said quickly, eager to sneak off to my room. "I'm pretty tired, so I'll just rest for a bit."

Using that as my reason, I went up to my bedroom, feeling really excited. I couldn't wait any longer. "It's time to see what I got from the Spider-Man system!" I said, bouncing with excitement.

"But before that, hmm, I should check my status," I mused aloud. "Status."

A holographic transparent window appeared, displaying my current attributes and skills:

"Whoa, my attributes have really come a long way," I marveled, comparing them to my humble beginnings. "Back then, my strength was only 14, my endurance was 10, and my stamina was 10. But thanks to the additional experience points, they've skyrocketed! Talk about progress."

"Hmm, I still have some available experience points," I noted, eyeing the figure with a mix of excitement and caution. "But I think I'll hold off on using them for now. They're pretty valuable, and I want to make sure I use them wisely."

"But first things first, let's check out this new shop that I unlocked by defeating that criminal," I said eagerly, navigating to the Shop section of the Spider-Man system interface.

[Shop]

"Whoa, so this is the system shop. There are categories for powers, techniques, tools, and others," I exclaimed, marveling at the array of options before me. feeling like a kid in a candy shop.

With my finger hovering over the holographic screen right in front of my face, "Hmm, should I click on Cosmic Spider-Man first?" I pondered aloud, my excitement growing with each passing moment.

Without hesitation, I selected Cosmic Spider-Man, eager to learn more about this incredible power.

"Whoa, that sounds amazing!" I gasped, my mind racing with the possibilities. "But wait, how much does it cost?"

As I scrolled down, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I saw the price tag. "Holy shit, 1 billion shop points!" I exclaimed, my jaw dropping in disbelief. "I don't have anywhere near that much!"

Feeling disappointed but not giving up, I made a mental note to come back to the powers shop later when I had amassed enough shop points. Right now, it was just too expensive for me.

"Okay, let's see what else is available," I said, shaking off my disappointment and returning to the main shop menu. "There's bound to be something else that's more affordable."

With renewed determination, I continued my exploration of the shop, eager to find the perfect upgrade for my Spider-Man abilities.

Should I choose Miles Morales Spider-Man? After all you know, Venom Blast.

Without hesitation, I selected Miles Morales Spider-Man, eager to learn more about this incredible power.

Buy: 150 million points

"Holy cow, 150 million points! How can I buy something like that?" I exclaimed in disbelief.

The AI system chimed in, offering a helpful suggestion. "Host, you can click each ability of Miles Morales."

"What do you mean?" I asked

"You can click his Venom Blast, for example," the AI system explained.

"Whoa, so I can click each ability? Well then, I'll click Venom Blast," I decided, eager to explore my options further.

Venom Blast:

Description: Venom Blast refers to an electric discharge or burst of energy that Spider-Man Miles Morales can emit from his hands or body to incapacitate enemies or disrupt technology. It's typically depicted as a powerful, bio-electric shock capable of stunning opponents or short-circuiting machinery.

Buy: 10 million points

"Shit, 10 million points? I still don't have that much, after all, I only have 8000 points," I sighed in disappointment. Realizing that purchasing any of the major powers was out of reach for now, I decided to return to the main shop menu.

"I should go back to the shop menu for now. Maybe I should click on the techniques tab instead," I thought to myself. Determined to find something within my budget.

Technique:

The Way of the Spider

Shaolin Martial Arts

Kung fu

Taekwondo

Krav Maga

Boxing

Capoeira

Wrestling

Marksmanship

Brazilian jiu-jitsu

Systema

"Hmm, 'The Way of the Spider' sounds interesting. It's what Spider-Man uses to make up for his lack of spider sense," I thought to myself. "I'll give it a shot for now."

The way of the spider:

Description: a modified version of Peter's own combat style and Shang-Chi's martial arts.

Buy:100 thousand points

"Figures, after all, it's a pretty powerful technique," I sighed to myself. "I should try another one instead."

"Hmm, maybe Kung Fu. Spider-Man did learn Kung Fu after all," I reasoned, clicking on the Kung Fu option.

As I clicked on the Kung Fu option, I felt a sense of anticipation.

Kung Fu:

Description: Kung Fu is a diverse martial art system originating from China, encompassing various styles like Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and etc... Each style has its unique techniques and philosophies, emphasizing agility, strength, and discipline in combat. Practitioners dedicate themselves to mastering specific forms and movements within their chosen style, employing a combination of strikes, kicks, blocks, and defensive maneuvers tailored to their individual practice. Through rigorous training, Kung Fu practitioners aim to develop both physical prowess and mental acuity, embodying the rich tradition and heritage of Chinese martial arts.

Buy: 50 thousand points

"Shit, 50 Thousand points," I muttered, feeling a bit disheartened. "Should I click boxing instead?"

Feeling a bit disheartened by the high cost of Kung Fu, I hesitated. "Maybe boxing would be a better option," I thought to myself, considering the alternatives.

Boxing:

Description: Boxing is a combat sport that focuses on striking with the fists. Practitioners of boxing utilize various punches, footwork, and defensive techniques to outmaneuver and defeat their opponents. With a strong emphasis on agility, speed, and endurance, boxing is not only a physical challenge but also a mental one, requiring strategic thinking and quick reflexes in the heat of battle.

Buy: 5,000 points

"Why's it just 5,000 points? Is it not as good?" I asked, confused why it was so cheap.

The AI System promptly responded, "The Boxing technique is priced lower because it's considered a foundational skill that's widely available and less specialized compared to other techniques. While it may not offer the same complexity as some of the more advanced martial arts, it still provides valuable combat training and can be a versatile addition to your skill set.

"Ah, I see," I nodded, understanding the reasoning behind the price difference. "Then boxing it is!"

(Commerical break)

Feeling reassured by the AI System's explanation, I made up my mind. "Alright then, boxing it is!" I declared, clicking on the Boxing technique without hesitation.

Suddenly, as I clicked on the Boxing technique, it felt like my brain opened up like a faucet. Basic boxing stuff flooded in, filling my head with moves, stances, and how-to etc...

I could imagine myself in the ring, moving smoothly, throwing punches with accuracy. I knew how to stand, how to dodge, and how to hit back. It was like I'd been boxing forever.

"Wow, this is amazing!" I said, feeling pumped. "I can't believe how much I've learned just by buying this technique."

The AI System said, "Good job, host. You got the Boxing technique. Remember to practice lots to get really good."

I nodded, grinning. "Thanks, System. I'll practice hard."

"But it's still basic, so you can upgrade it using experience points," the AI System explained.

"What do you mean by 'basic'?" I asked, curious about the system's terminology.

"You see, host, every technique has levels: basic, intermediate, pro, and master," the AI System clarified.

"Ah, I get it now," I said, nodding in understanding. "So, I start with the basic level, and then I can work my way up by upgrading with experience points."

"Exactly," the AI System confirmed. "Once you've mastered the basic level, you can invest more points to unlock higher levels of proficiency in the technique."

"Okay, tsk... to think it's like that," I sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and resignation. "There are still so many things to do. I should complete more quests to save up more experience points and also shop points... (sigh)"

"But hey," I said, trying to stay positive, "it's all part of the journey.

"Host, can I ask you a question?" the AI system interjected. "Why do you want to become a mentor to Spider-Man, even without me? It seems like you really want to train Peter Parker even without the Spider-Man System."

"Well, it's because of a certain person," I began, my voice softening with emotion. "You see, back in my universe, in my own world where I'm still Jonathan Anderson, there was someone who inspired me."
