Sitting beside Serena on a leather couch I began reading old Chi tomes and scrolls, many of them originals brought to Europe by Marco Polo and Vasco da Gama.
"Awakening...it should allow one to connect deeper with the Chi and control the elements. Amplification seems like the next stage for Reinforcement. And Soul Forging, it allows the creation of Spirit Weapons. It just needs rare materials to serve as the Heart of the weapon, such as a Dragon Claw or Goliath Nail." I mused to myself, after putting my slightly better Mind to work for hours.
Serena patted my knee, her eyes glazed as she stared at the wall. "Can you do it?" she asked in a small voice.
Hmmm. I probably could, with Lisa's help.
Instead, I took out my cheapest Grimoire and placed it on the table. It was supposed to grant Fireball to the one who read it, but I wasn't interested in a low level fire spell. The magic theory in the book might allow us to create out own, better and grander spells someday.
"Read the book, out loud. I'll take notes." I demanded from Serena as I prepared pen and paper.
"Magic is made of internal and external elements...." She began reading, her voice becoming softer and weaker as she turned the pages.
I wrote down all I could, noting the chant and spell key components, as well as concurrent chanting that allowed casting while fighting or moving. Another type was called horseback chanting, which obviously allowed chanting spells while mounted and moving. Could be useful for situations like driving a car or plane too. Or maybe a mecha suit, if we could convince the Academy to cooperate.
They were kinda arrogant right now, as expected of their status and power, but the Dungeon would eat them alive even so.
'Buying some goodwill from the Academy will cost us Potions and some materials. They want the Dragon Claw in particular.' Lisa sent me mentally as I concentrated over the magic bits I wrote down.
Raising my eyes, I noticed Serena holding her Fireball in hand, mesmerized by her new spell.
"There are two consequences for a Magic user. One is the spell unraveling and the feedback killing the user. The other is casting too much, and suffering a Mind Down syndrome. One the other hand, training Magic will raise your Magic stats and thus the damage, and partially increase your Mind same as our Chi does." I warned my girlfriend as her breath began to falter.
Serena launched the Fireball into the fireplace, incinerating the logs to black charcoal in a second. Pretty decent, but monsters were quite more durable than logs.
"It won't even kill a single Minotaur." Serena whispered as she reached the same conclusion.
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
"Well, Minotaurs have levels between 15 and 20. Rarely level 21. Your Magic needs to overmatch that. Magic stats at 4 won't cut it." I answered with a teasing voice.
"Magic 5! And Mind 10 now. Still a bit more training to do." she said with a sad voice.
"Anyways. Take my papers and try to create a proper magic curriculum for the school. The cantrip spells do not require a Grimoire, and they can help the students practice some Magic without much risk. I'll go see what Lisa is up to." I continued and walked out from the library without looking back.
Walking around, I failed to find any other Chi or Esper user, and only a few new Mages. As in their Magic stat was over 1.
So magic would be quite rare, same as in Orario. And I doubted the Academy would have many mages either. Proportions would stay, so likely a thousand mages among a million students.
When I entered the conference room, Lisa and Madame Devoinne were talking via a holographic podium with a robed guy from the Academy, showing him our stuff. Well, at least we would get to sell it, instead of getting confiscated.
I had a feeling the Academy City was among the top powers in the world now, not just from their superpowers, but also technology lead and some other deals.
Mystic ran and jumped in my arms as I sat down, purring loudly as to show his attention. Or begging me to pet his wonderful fluffy fur. Probably both.
"Well then. I guess we'll hear from each other soon, Madame Devoinne. I look forward towards more wondrous materials from this Dungeon." the Academy guy spoke in a cold voice, then shut off his hologram.
Lisa rose her eyes, somehow looking through the ceiling towards the sky. "They deployed 3 more satellites over West Africa. As we were still negotiating."
"Mister Crowley is this sort of man. And I suspect the Foreign Legion obeys his will as well." the Alchemist lady said with a sad tone, then sat down next to me.
"We should take Alicia into the Dungeon too. Before the Academy moves in to expand the Rivera into a forward base." Lisa proposed with a nod towards the busty Alchemist.
"Status?" I asked politely as my cat glanced at our new comrade with a frown.
Alicia Devoinne - Level 4
Title: Aspiring Alchemist

Mind: 7
Magic: 2
Endurance: 2
Free points: 0
Class: Alchemist
Job: Teacher
Alchemy Skills:
Dismantling: early
Mixing: early
Transmuting: none
Crafting: none
I read the screen with confused eyes.
Why was Lisa so interested in her? Ignoring the obvious giant boobs.
Probably the transmuting Skill. Lisa didn't have any Skills relating to her Class, which was a bit strange.
At least the same transmuting Skill should have been present. Damn game system and its obscure secrets.
"Fine. Getting Alicia to Level 20 or so is easy. We're not taking the other teachers?" I wondered with a glance to my wife.
"Level 40, Pef. At least level 40 if we're to obtain some benefits from her Class. You notice the lack of Chi or Esper points." My wife pointed out while the woman sighed with a sad face.
Right. Level 40 will mean about 35 or 36 free points to deploy into a single stat, probably Magic. Giving the Ecole a magic user with over 70 Magic stats. Basically like a Level 7 from Orario.
"Plane is already fueled up and my inventory is filled with food and alchemy supplies." Alicia added with a hopeful voice.
"You're going to be naked for a month or two, Lady Devoinne. And suffer lots of injuries to your body and mind." I warned her as I stood up and Mystic jumped on my shoulder.
Her eyes glinted with something, determination perhaps. "As long as I don't die."
I shrugged and my cat smacked my face for disturbing its place. Damn cat hit harder than the Goliath.
"Oh well. At least I get to ogle those amazing breasts for a while." I spoke my thoughts out loud, making Alicia blush and Lisa grin too wide.
What? It was true.
