Chapter 57 · Sudden turn
The journey took an hour an hour, in which most of it was in silence. The back of the car had three sheats in which all of them were taken. I sat on the rightmost seat looking out the window at the fields rolling by filled with yellow flowers of rapeseed and other green plant's that I couldn't tell what they were. I mean just because I had grown up here didn't mean I knew anything about plants or farming.
I was trying my best not to look at Zoe who was sitting next to me slightly leaning over me looking out the window. I felt the odd hair tingling the tip of my ears and the odd breath over my shoulder cooling the back of my neck. I was trying my best not to turn my head knowing how close we were but it was starting to get hard by the end of it. I almost felt like she was testing me like she wanted me to turn.
But that's just my brain, I already owe Zoe so much I can't, I won't, ruin are friendship over a childish crush. Dam, it was hard however.
It's not like I could talk to anyone really. I don't know anyone that well apart from Zoe or my uncle but like hell, I'm talking to ever of them about it. I can't tell Zoe about my crush on her without burning that bridge and my uncle...
Well from the way he treated most of the boys who asked me on dates in the past I don't see that going well, At all.
Stupid life, so dam hard.
Anyway, what was I thinking about again? Oh right, Terry sat driving at the front seeming quite content to hum to himself to the tune of the song on the radio. Some kind of 90's pop song that quietly played in the background.
Oh and Wick who sat next to Zoe on the left of the car. I had no clue what he was doing mostly because I couldn't move my head to look without starring at Zoe but also from the lack of noise he was making. He was probably reading. If he wasn't being rude he was reading so I guess that's what he had been doing the whole trip.

The car continued on for a new minute as I watched the farmland slowly turn more wild with the odd tree here and there. The road leads on, however, Terry turned onto an almost hidden side road going up a slight hill towards a large twisted metal gate surrounded by thick red brick walls that stood old yet steady with ivy bending around its base and moss patch's splatted all along the outside. A small metal postbox sat on the brick wall the words 'Thent-hill estate' written in white but fading paint.
I felt and heard the engine die as Terry turn back to us "won't be long," before he leaves the car. We all watched as he took a set of keys and started unlocking the gate.
"Should we help him, it looks like may kill over at this rate?" Wick asked as we could see him ever so slowly pulling the gate open. Even inside the car, I could hear the hinges squeak.
"Off you go then," Zoe replied leaning over and opening his door before pushing him out with a shove.
Wick half in shock stumbled out the door his bag following him with a loud BANG. Zoe then quickly slammed the door, locking it before Wick managed to get back in. As he stood trying and find the door locked he seemed to give a deep sigh before grumpily dragging his feet to help Terry with the gate.
"Well, that one grump dealt with," Zoe sighed now turning to look at me "now what up with you?"
"What do you mean," I stumbled looking around for a way out but only finding the door behind me.
"Jade I can see you've been crying and you almost legged it back at the bar," Zoe explained, "I'm not an idiot I know something's wrong."
"It's nothing," I said now eyeing up the door handle and creeping my hand closer towards it.
Zoe leaned closer putting her hand on the door handle before I could reach it with a small 'hmph' and a small sly smile of victory at blocking my only exit. However, I didn't care about that now, only on how close she was to me.
"Jade don't treat me like an idiot, I know something wrong," Zoe told me as I stared at her. I look deep at her eyes filled with questions and down to her lips that were ever so close.
