Chapter 39 · Balance

The line move fairly quickly, that was until some little old lady got to the front. Looking at the old dear and the guy at the desk didn't know who to feel sorrier for as the guy tried to explain some form to the lady.

At last, it was my go. I walk over to the desk and handed over my card. It was one of the only things I had with me since I had no phone or pursue. As I felt in my pocket I felt my card but also a secondary card. Pulling them both out I found the bank card that my uncle had given me and the silver card my guide had given me. I really need to ask what that was about.

I look around to see my guide a few feet away next to the door seemly waiting for me to be done.

"Came I help you?" Came the voice of the cashier.

I jump a little and quickly handed my card to him. He looks over it and replied with " we can do transactions with this but it will come with a two-pound payment charge."

I quickly nodded.

"st... statement," I half asked, half stumbled. I felt hands do a mad random twitch stand here without knowing what I was doing. I wish I had checked my account online like I normally did.

"Of course," he replied taking my card. He clicked away on his computer before printing a sheet of paper.

"Here you go," he replied hand it to me with a card " anything else for you miss today."

I shook my head and shuffled to a corner. I quickly put my card away and looked at the paper he had given me.

Account amount:

'£2,000'

Well, shit. That was more then I fault there would be. Oh dam it.

I forgot to ask how much the rent was for the flat. I guess it must be kind of expensive considering its in the middle of London and it was big compared to my old flat. I looked back at the account details.

I guess it made sense for my uncle to send me this much. I did say I would be staying in a hotel and I think he would have died if I had to sleep someone that he would class 'low standard'.

I guess that all I needed to do for now. I just had to get thew this auction. Easy, I hope.

"Ready miss," came my guide's voice after I walk back over to him. I gave a quick nod "well miss is there anywhere you would like to head to,"

"Um, would you know if Zoe meeting would be over by now?" I asked hoping that I could just follow her around for however long this took.

"Sorry, miss but I have not been informed of it ending and I have already requested to be so when it does end. If you like there are many shops around here if you wish to look," he said with a jester to the door of the bank back into the, I guess, shopping centre.

"Is there somewhere... quite?" I asked with a look at the short queue of people as I tried to edge around my guide to put him between us. I didn't like the way one guy was looking at me.

He gave a quick nod before leading me to a small half book shop, half cafe. I quickly order and paid with my card before finding a corner out of sight of the main street.

The shop itself was a little stale and smelled of coffee and old books. White bookshelves held books around the walls while the last of the evening light seemed to be trailing in from a small skylight. It was... nice I guess.

Buzz buzz,

A slight buzzing sound suddenly came from my guides pocket who has stood next to my table and had even brought the tray with my drink, mint hot chocolate, over for me.

"Oh drat," came the hushed voice of my guide.
