Chapter 46 · Sugar
"You look worse than me," Bane groaned as I sat next to her trying to hold my spoon. I had spent the whole night unable to sleep thanks to Zoe half hugging me, half strangling me.
"Urmm..." was all I whispered in response.
"Hail to that," was all the warning I got before a slap to my back that knocked my spoon from my hand and also the breath from my lungs. It took me a while until I was able to drip my spoon back into my bowl of cereal.
Weirdly I hadn't been able to fund much if anything in the cupboards apart from a huge bag of coffee and what I was eating now. Sugar. Just pure sugar. No wonder Zoe was always so bouncy with this stuff in her diet. It was like constated energy. I could hardly call it cereal.
Unfortunately, I hadn't eaten last night and with the lack of anything else and my belly sounding like a foghorn I had been forced to eat this or starve. At least there was milk.
"Crap, the milk's off," Bane mattered behind me sniffing the half used milk bottle.
I looked back down at my half-eaten bowl before pushing it away. I was already dreading today so I did not need to temp some evil god into also making me sick. Because today was the day I went to see my uncle.
"Morning!" Came that of a booming voice and a loud crash as Zoe's bedroom door opened and smacked the wall. Zoe was dressed in grey jeans and an origin shirt with a fire breathing kitten on it which would normally look odd most people but it seemed to fit her quite well.

"Too loud Z," Bane complained as she walks towards the door with a black rucksack and a takeaway coffee cup that a trial of the lazy stream was drifting off of "I'm head off so have a good day, I guess."
"See ya," was all Zoe was able to say before the front door slammed shut and leaving the flat one member down.
"Soooo... What's he like?" Zoe asked as she took my half eaten bowl and started eating it. Ewe.
"Well umm, he's ok," I whisper still a bit in shock as Zoe munched on.
"Anything else, like is he cool and stuff," Zoe asked between munchies.
"He's I guess different but he's family. He can be a bit crazy at times but he always has a reason for it," I replied not too sure how to explain h.
"Ok. Do you know if he knows about magic? You know so I don't look weird or anything," Zoe questioned.
I shook my head. I mean I don't think he had magic or he would have told me by now. After all, he was not the best at keeping a secret. I remember how I had told him how one of the boys at my school had been mean to me.
I had made him promise that he wouldn't tell anyone but the next day the boy hadn't been at school and the teacher had done a huge lesson on bullying. All the boy had done was put some gum in my hair.
I shook my head again. No way he would know.
"Ok. So where does he live then," Zoe asked now finished eating her sugar flakes in extra sugar.
"He lives next to this little town outside of London. It's not that far on a train like an hour and then I can ask if maybe he would pick us up," I whispered, "oh also I know you said about rent but I think I forgot what you said it was."
"Oh yeah, that. I don't think I did say did I," Zoe said tapping her chin and seeming to think for a second
