24 - THE RETURN OF MISSING PIECES TO A FOUND PUZZLE

After they finished all of the various different funs, activities, festivities, and more enjoyable things of Thanksgiving day, such as eating meals together - as well as Frankie’s little surprise birthday party, all the children, just like the night prior, immediately put all the stuff away, and made their way up stairs, to the attic - or, the place of which they’d sleep at. Now there, they began to mess around with comforters, as they were not so much happy with the formation that they were in before. But now, feeling like natives, they changed all that, and modified the set up to their liking - causing the sillies of the group, such as Charlotte and Castille to smile. “This is better.” they both said at least two times each - with both being at different times. And, for the last time, which was Castille’s, Lune grinned. “It is better.” she said, before laying down inside of the new design. Next to her was Stelline, and looked at her. “And, it’s more snug.” she said with a smile. Lune chuckled. “Heh, I’ve never heard you say a word like snug before.” she played, to which joyful Stelline smiled more.

“I guess it’s because it’s not formal.” she then replied, now facing the ceiling above her. Lune did the same thing - “Yep.” she said, before slowly turning on to her side. “Goodnight.” she then uttered, slowly lowering her head into her own chest at the same time.

Still looking at the roof, Stelline took in a deep breath, “Goodnight.” she told Lune, who right after, began to snore. This snore could be heard from Cassette, who slept near Meishu. “Loud.” she said, acknowledging the terrible sound. Meishu blew out the candle in the lantern that they used to see whilst preparing - “And quick - she fell asleep quick!” he added, before getting deep into his comforters. Cassette got deeper into hers as well. “Goodnight Meishu.” she told Meishu, and she faced his way. Meishu, who was facing the other way, yawned. “Goodnight Cassette.” he said, before the room went into silence, as everyone hurried for their dreams. Naturally, all their dreams were unique, but all focused on a certain aspect - back at home, or, in some cases, the academia. For Brittanica, it was the former. Though nobody knew it, Brittanica lived a quite normal life before becoming a maid - and furthermore, Lucette wasn’t the first girl she has served, and won’t be the last. Hence, in her mind, she saw herself back at her poor family home where her mother and father fought until their separation. After that, she remembered a multitude of events - such as having to stay with her father, who raised her right, unlike her mother who would take care of her over the summers. Summer, she also recalled its opposite. In winter, during the holiday time, her father never had enough to afford many gifts - but on her birthday, he would always manage to buy sweet cakes. Sweet cake memories were also shared by Frankie - who was dreaming of something off. She thought of the days before going to the academy, where she truly was antisocial, and barely even spent time around her parents.

In those days, she enjoyed the Autumn weather just as she still does - and knew how to call down her favourite animals, the crow. Still in sleep, Frankie even managed to remember a time where she was able to call the crows to stop a bully of a boy. After that, the bully never messed with her again for being a quiet child. But also after that, her parents had grown so unsatisfied with her silentness, separateness, obsession with dirty animals, and now what to them - looked like a violent attack, that they, being rich, sent her off to live in the academy. That’s where the change happened - and she became more social and friendly, for it’s hard to be a silent kid at school. So, from then on out, Frankie grew to become a social and talkative girl. But, because of her low skills at a younger age, she couldn’t grasp basic concepts, and lived up stupidly and funnily. Luckily, she wasn’t the only outcast - there many other clown children like Castille - who didn’t know when to be serious.

In her dreams, Castille was reliving the most joyous moments of her life out. When she was a wee lad, her parents knew that there was something off with her - but let her be, allowing for her to be the sore thumb of dumbness in the group. So, she had little friends besides Flawrin - whom she had to originally negotiate with to become friends with. And - I hate to be a bad narrator here, but if you have to force someone into being your friend, and literally have to negotiate, then you must be an terrible person. Um - but, more importantly, in formalness, and returning to our tale, Flawrin did eventually begin to enjoy being friends with Castille, and now they both have a long nostalgia path for their childhoods. So, accordingly, just as Castille dreamed of her, Flawrin saw Castille in her head. Together, they relaxed, and Flawrin felt a wave of memories - until a sharp pain hit her arm. To the real world now, she quickly rose up, to see Lucette and Castille were already awake, just like her.

“What was that!?” she screamed, as Lucette hurried to light a candle, and Castille covered her mouth. There, in the night, a dark figure entered the room, and Castille was still keeping Flawrin silent - before another sound came. Given her eyes were overly sensitive to lights thanks to years of star gazing in the Space Club back at school, Stelline woke up to the candle. “Guys, what’s that?” she asked in a slurred mesh.

With the lantern above her head, Lucette closed her eyes tight, knowing that because of Stelline, she was dead - until she wasn’t! In the light of the candle, the figure came to be known.

“Witchie!” shouted Ciel, who had been up the whole time. The girls turned to look at her, but then back at Witchie. With so many questions, Stelline got up and went in front of Witchie. “How’d you survive that explosion!?” she cried. With a great toothy smile, Witchie winked - “You mean when the school went down? I’m magic - of course I’d live through it!” she answered, before Charlotte got up, and went to her next. “Witchie, Witchie, Witchie!” she said three times as if she was casting a spell - “Where’d Gabriel go? Is he alive?” she then asked, as, at the name, Lavinia woke up. “Huh? Gabriel?” she questioned, before crawling up to Witchie next to Charlotte and Stelline, in anticipation of the reply.

Witchie sighed - “Gabriel is no longer with us.” she replied.

Charlotte’s eyes slowly got taken over with water, and she began to tear at the words. “So, he’s d-d-d-d-dead?” she asked while sobbing. Lavinia comforted her, and Witchie gave her response - “Yes.” Witchie answered, as Nainai came over to help Charlotte as well.

Nainai patted Charlotte’s head. “Charlotte, do you want to know something?” she asked her, as she began to wipe her tears. “Okay…” she responded, before Nainai spoke. “Gabriel was an angel.” she informed Charlotte - who for some reason, didn’t appear shocked at all. “I know that already! I realised that the moment he took his helmet off at home, something in him shined!” she whined, as Nainai frowned. “Well, you know what that means?” she asked, while Charlotte hugged her.

Charlotte didn’t reply, so Nainai went on talking on her own - “When humans from Tera die, they go to the Spiritual World, where you’re at now! And so, when they die again, rather than entering another Spiritual World, their spirits instead fall down, expecting to go to the Heavens, but instead end up going to the deepest pits of hell!” Charlotte got startled. “But, for angels, since they are messengers of God - they are quickly taken by him, up to his palace, where they are reborn. So, Gabriel is up with God right now, but I’m sure he misses you, and will come back.” Nainai finished.

Witchie chewed on a stick. “That’d be a pain in the arse.” she said to Nainai, who spit on her. In shock, Witchie hopped and fell backwards out the window she came from.

“Oh ~ my ~ word…” said Lucette in disappointment.

“Mhm,” said Nainai, “A shame to the human race.”, all before Witchie climbed back up. “Anyways, look up kids.” she said, entering the room again.

“Now that we’re connected again, we can continue our journey, but first, we need to pick some stuff up!” she announced. That announcement got Meishu up - “Go away.” he told Witchie.

She looked at him, and had one thought in her head. Now, she brought her thought to life by running up to him - and stomping on his stomach.

“Ow! Quit it!” Meishu said, pushing her off.

Witchie smiled. “Then get up, and come with me - we’re heading somewhere!”.

Meishu turned on his side. “Where?” he asked. Witchie’s hat fell low and covered her eyes ~ “You’ll see once you wake up!” she shouted at Meishu, who just now began to rise. Feeling his watch to make sure it was secure, he looked at Witchie. “Oh yeah, this thing works now.” he said, pointing at the same watch. Witchie, with her hat still low, said “Hmph, useful…”. Meishu sighed - “I’m now scared.” he told Lucette, who, with the other girls, was putting the comforters up.

Witchie smiled at everyone - “So then, after we’ve put up this stuff - we’re gone!” she said.

Kristoph faced her. “That’s right.” he said, growing a smile like Witchie did as she pulled her hat up from her eyes afterwards.

“That is right…”
