22 - THE WORLD OUTSIDE OF THE CITY

Just as anyone with basic human brain power would suspect, the flight of which the children were once in, eventually came to an end - as they crashed down into the surface of the spiritual world, and into a new place that they had never seen before. After all the stress they dealt with at the last place they were at, such a new location was needed, and they all felt that - despite the injuries that covered their bodies from the fall, their time spent here would be well fated, and much better than the prior. To add to the greatness, Charlotte touched at her heart - “I have good feelings.” she told everyone in the group as she stood up. “I feel like we can start anew here.” she then added, before reaching over to help her best friend Ciel up. “Thanks.” said Ciel, as she dusted off the dirt from her pants. It was almost the evening time, and they were in another green woodland - except, this one was more breathable, and not completely hidden thanks to trees, or other vegetation. “Hey, it’s sunnier here!” commented Castille as she crawled over to a nearby hill to sit down on it, and watch the view. “I feel just as you, Charlotte.” she then laughed whilst enjoying the sight. As everyone made their way to sit by her, Meishu and Lucette stayed next to each other on the now ripped paper surface. There, Yu sat alongside them with the little nurse girl as well. “It’s been hard living in this spiritual world.” said Meishu, as he looked over at Lucette. “Yeah,” she responded - “Definitely harder than living on Tera.”. The little nurse girl looked at all them and blinked. “Oh, so you’re foreigners?” she asked them all.

Lucette, knowing how she’d blame others for this back on Tera, gasped. She had never been a foreigner before to anyone - “I-I-I guess so…” she mumbled, grasping reality at the same time. “Yes, we are.” Meishu said in layman’s terms, as he patted the nurse girl’s head, reminding himself of Kaminari. The nurse girl smiled. “So, what’s your name?” she asked, now turning to face Yu. Yu was staring off into space, but snapped back to the spiritual world. “Erm - Yu!” she said, as a sweat drop came off her face. “Are you nervous, Ms. Yu?” asked the nurse girl - to which Yu spoke back, “No way.”, as more sweat dropped down her face. “Um… What’s your name?” she asked, now finally calming down. Calm as well, the nurse girl played with her collar. “My name is Emmeraussline, but everyone calls me Emily.” she answered happily. Yu became happy just like her - “Well, I’m glad we’re acquainted, Emily.” Yu said, trying to shake Emily’s hand. Emily didn’t shake back - “Acquaintances, not even friends?” Emily asked, whilst laying back. Yu sighed. “Ok, we’re friends!” she said back to Emily, who now shook her hand. “Great,” Emily then started as she stood up. “Now then, friends stick together right?” she asked. Yu stood up as well - “Right.” she replied, saluting at the same time. “So then - you’re coming to hunt with me?” Emily then asked. Yu wiggled her shoulders. “Hunting?” she asked, “That’s for overly confident guys like Meishu.” Meishu, who was walking off with Lucette, turned to face Yu, before walking off with Lucette again.

Emily bit her tongue in stress. “What about berry collecting?” she then suggested. Yu grinned. “Why not all fruits?” she then contemplated before holding out her baby-finger. Emily held her fifth digit out as well, and locked it in with Yu’s. “Deal!” she then said before running away and into the grassy woods. Yu jumped up, and ran right behind her - “Fruit searching we go!” she screamed, as she entered the woods as well.

Meishu looked off into the woods with Lucette. “Hopefully, they know how to get good ones.” Lucette said, before pulling the hat off of her head. “Brittanica!” she cried, after she did so, with her hand on her head, in a worried voice. Meishu fell frightened - “Lucette, what’s wrong?” he asked, feeling a tad bit of concern. Lucette began to cry as she covered her head still. Meishu approached her. “Is it an injury like mine?” he asked, as she still cried. “No, it’s worse!” she replied to Meishu. Meishu backed up. “How?” he asked, while feeling at his own cut. “What happened?” he then asked. But, Lucette was still crying, and Brittanica now neared them. “Let me see Ma’am.” said Brittanica as she pulled Lucette’s hands off her head. Due to the sight, Brittanica screamed. Meishu put his eyes to Lucette’s head. “What is it!?” he demanded, not seeing the problem. “Are you blind, sir?” Brittanica asked Meishu, who crossed his arms. “Just tell me the problem.” he insisted. So, Brittanica and Lucette looked at one another - “My hair!” and “Her hair!” they both shouted.

Meishu ran off, and kicked a tree. “I was actually freaked out!” he screamed - “I thought it was an emergency!” he then yelled. The girls turned angry, “It is an emergency!” they called out at Meishu, who was just as done with them. Lucette sighed, “I need a hairstylist.” she whaled to the boy. Meishu slammed Lucette’s head back on her hair. “Maybe you should go search for berries with them.” he told her. Lucette whipped her hat back off, and threw it into the trees. “Maybe I should go search for a professional.” she switched, as she walked away. “Professional…” Meishu mimicked, as he went his own way, feeling apart.

Stepping away, he slipped over a wet area of land, but thankfully managed to have caught himself before hitting the ground. “The world!?” he shouted, as Kraüter went to him. “No - you mean, ‘what in the spiritual world?’!” she corrected, as she helped him up. Meishu gave a thumbs up, as he looked down. “A water source,” said Flawrin as she jumped into it.

“Hey, don’t be dumb!” screamed Castille as she hopped in as well. “They’re both incredibly stupid.” said Kraüter as she watched them float down the water body - “It looks like a mountain river!” commented Charlotte. Ciel blocked Charlotte from going any further. “She means a ‘waterfall’.” Ciel told the rest of the group.

“-And a safe one.” said Adeline.

“Don’t join the stupid club, please.” Meishu begged Adeline, as she walked up to the water. “No, wait guys - I think this is actually worth it.” said Frankie, before stepping into the water. “See?” Adeline asked Meishu, before copying Frankie. After some time, everyone, with Meishu coming last, had travelled down the waterfall, and swam to a lower land.

“I nearly drowned.” said Kristoph with relief as he exited the water - “Not me.” bragged Amalia as she walked with him. “So, what’s so good down here?” she asked, still doing the same thing. “Absolutely freaking nothing.” said Meishu back. But Castille and Flawrin disagreed. “Look, a cottage!” Flawrin shouted whilst running to it. Everyone else ran up to the cottage like Flawrin, leaving Meishu in the dust. “My eyes deceive me.” grunted Meishu before he made it to the other kids.

Like hooligan bastards, they were all moronically bashing their fists against the door, and hoping for an answer. “You imbossals!” Meishu called at the top of lungs, before the door opened. At the door was a lady with a green dress, tied at the waist with a white bow, and adorned with a layer of white fabric above the skirt, and orange long hair.

“Hello there, darlings!” said the lady to the children, before adding - “Hey, honey, come look - more kiddos here!”.

Meishu gasped. “More kids?” he asked the lady, who now beamed at him. “Yes, sweetie, why don’t you come in and see!” she replied kindly.

Meishu bowed before entering in with his silly friend group. “Thank you ma’am.” he told the women as he stood in her cosy small living room, which was next to the dining room. “No problem - make yourself at home, and meet the other kids!” she declared before walking off.

Meishu sat down on a green couch, and met eyes with the other kids. “Bloody hell,” he shouted, “They’re just more of our stupid friends.” .

He looked over at them - Yu, Emily, Brittanica, and Lucette - who now had new hair. Meishu finally relaxed and smiled at ease. “I think you were right about that earlier hair being ugly.” he said as the sun set outside - “You look much cuter now.” he finished, as Lucette blushed, with her hair literally looking the same as earlier.

Meishu chilled. “So, did you guys collect food?” he asked Yu and Emily with his eyes shut. He never ended up getting a response, so he opened his eyes up, to see the two with everyone else, eating in the dining room. Meishu stood up, and scrambled to an empty seat to eat. The food was amazing, a large selection of home soups and vegetables.

After dinner, the children all got to sleep in the attic with more than a hundred comforters all thrown around the place.

On the cold floor, Meishu wrapped himself up, and looked over at Lucette who was sleeping next to him, but facing the other way. “Don’t even touch me.” she said before he turned the other way around. “Goodnight.” he then told Lucette.

“Goodnight!” Castille happily replied from across the room.

Meishu sighed.
