The little green slimes were defeated with ease. At first, Aiko and Eichi had a hard time killing the slimes efficiently, but after a few kills they got the hang of it. For Gaia, too, the killing was child's play.
Although she was a sweet and cheerful person, she seemed to have a lot of fun killing the slimes. Every time a new slime jumped at her, she beamed with joy and thought of a funny way to kill it. She didn't even need a weapon, so she usually just used her bare fists to smash the core of the slime. Every time she hit a slime you could clearly hear the core shattering.
"crack" "crack"
Hiroki was glad that his wife could let off steam like that because otherwise, she would always be unloading her excess energy on him, which could get really tiring sometimes.
However, the party received very few XP points for the slimes they killed. Therefore, after his friends had killed all the slimes far and wide, Hiroki suggested going one floor deeper and penetrating the dungeon further.
"You know that Professor Pertina allowed us to stay here for only half an hour?" Eichi reminded him.
"Yeah yeah, I know. But don't worry, we still have a whole fifteen minutes. So we can go further into the dungeon. There you can let off some more steam," he answered them.
"Come on!"
The group followed Hiroki and soon they came to a large stone door. It was a double door, several meters high. It looked very old and was very simple and plain. Above the door was an arch with runes engraved on it. Just like the runes that were on the magic circle that teleported Hiroki and his friends to this world, these resembled the ancient Germanic runes on Earth.
"ᛋᛖᚳᚩᚾᛞ ᚠᛚᚩᚩᚱ ᛖᚾᛏᚱᛁ" was written above the door.
Aiko, trying to show off, tried to read what was written, "N...M...L...F...t... ok ok, I give up." He realized that he was just making a clown of himself, so he quickly asked Hiroki if he knew what those words meant.
Now Hiroki could brag.
"Well, roughly translated it means 'second-floor entry'. But of course, a layman like you can't understand that. If you want, I can tutor you in ancient Germanic, haha." He took the opportunity to mock his friend. But Aiko took the joke calmly, in their group they were used to making such jokes about others, so it didn't bother him that much.
Now that everything was settled, Hiroki opened the heavy, stone door with ease, and they entered. Behind the door stretched a long, straight tunnel. There were torches at a small distance from each other, illuminating the entire tunnel. It seemed as if the tunnel had no end and would go on straight for an infinite time.
They walked a short distance into the tunnel. Suddenly they became dizzy and their field of vision blurred. Shortly after, the tunnel disappeared before their eyes and they found themselves in a large, open cave.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"Woah... that was weird just now..." Eichi was speechless. He couldn't comprehend what had happened to him.
"I never thought you would change floors of a dungeon like that." Said Aiko as he grabbed his forehead with one hand to get rid of his dizziness. Everything was spinning in his head.
"That's exactly how I reacted when that first happened to me.... oh, those were good times." Hiroki got all nostalgic and ignored his two friends' complaints. They had to learn to cope on their own. And they did because, after less than a minute, they were ready to continue their adventure.
They went on, this time at a slightly faster pace since they didn't have too much time left and Hiroki still really wanted to show them the monsters of this floor.
A little later, they finally came across a single green monster. It was not a slime, but a goblin. Another legendary monster that every cultured person should know. Hiroki began to explain.
"As you can hopefully tell, this is a goblin." Hiroki made it seem like he was some kind of tourist guide.
"The trademark of Goblins is their gray-green skin tone, long noses, and yellow eyes, as well as their elderly appearance. Their main weapon is a wooden club and... oh well, they are great lechers. Goblins like to have fun with human women if you know what I mean. But that should be common knowledge."
Just as with the slime, Hiroki now proceeded to demonstrate to them how best to fight these monsters.
"It's the same as with those pesky slimes. Evasion is the key. Most of the monsters on the upper floors are so stupid, they would never be able to keep up with you in a lifetime. Their reactions are too slow for that.
That's why I don't understand all the manga where the main character has to play the little hero, parrying every attack head-on.
I always think to myself, just take a step to the right or left, you idiot.... but what can you do, it's only fiction."
His friends couldn't quite follow him, it all seemed to like this topic was very close to Hiroki's heart, so they didn't question it for long and just accepted it.
Hiroki continued to demonstrate to them what he had just said. He approached the goblin. When it noticed him, it fixated on him with its eyes. The monster's gaze evolved into a look like a lion finding its lunch for today. The goblin even licked his lips with his tongue before running at Hiroki with a loud scream.
"Look closely!" Hiroki reminded his friends.
Just before the goblin reached Hiroki, he swung his club wide and struck.
At that moment, Hiroki took a small step to the right and dodged the monster. The step was very small and the monster missed him by a hair's breadth. When the monster realized what had happened, it was already too late and it could only let out a surprised "eeeeh" before Hiroki hit it on the head with his fist.
'Bonk'
It was a light blow, but Hiroki's strength knocked the goblin to the floor and its face left an imprint in the stony ground after the goblin vanished into thin air.
"That's how you do it." Said Hiroki proudly.
His friends also wanted to try to kill a goblin, but unfortunately, they didn't have time to do so, because they already had to go back upstairs.
To save time, Hiroki teleported them to the top. There they reunited with the rest of the class and waited until each party was in a dungeon at least once.
After that, they met with Professor Pertina, with whom they talked about their experience in the dungeon. Of course, Hiroki and his friends left out the fact that they were already on the second floor.
It amazed Hiroki and his friends that many of their classmates reported that they had some difficulty fighting the slimes.
'Well, spoiled little kids just aren't cut out for adventuring.' Hiroki thought.
And like this their first day of the trip came to an end.
