Anyways, now that the professor had told them all of his concerns and personal opinions about the system, the students looked at each other, and some of them discussed what they had just heard and whether they also share the same opinion as their professor.
Though some of them agreed, they all knew that it was pointless to argue about things that they can’t even change. Thus they just accepted reality and hoped that they had at least a little bit of talent.
‘Oh yeah… now that they mention it… all of them still don’t know their stats. I had completely forgotten about that.’ Thought Hiroki.
What Hiroki was thinking about, was yet another one of the system’s unjust and unnecessary rules.
In this world, most of the common people aren’t even aware of their status window and its ability. Especially people that live in faraway villages and have nearly no contact with the rest of the world. Though people like Hiroki and his friends can open the status window easily. But that’s only because they are from another world and thus received the title [Otherworlder]. It is that title that gives them the right to access the status window by thinking [Open status] or [Display stats].
This means, that if one does not have that title, he cannot get access to the status window.
So, the only way for people to see their stats is either with the help of a so-called [Status Stone] or by leveling up to level two.
But as leveling up to level two is too inconvenient, if you only want to see one’s talent, most noble o rich families use [Status Stones]. These are your average stat-displaying stones, that you can see in every other manga. Normally they appear in the form of a sphere and seem like a crystal ball. Anybody that puts his hands on the device will be able to see his personal stats.
And obviously now happened to be the time, just like in every other manga, when the whole class gets to use the [Status Stone] and it will finally be revealed, if the mc is super strong or just a weak brat.
Though in this case, we do not have to worry about our mc being a weak brat.
As Hiroki scanned his classmates he was deep in thought.
‘Well, it’s kind of unnecessary to bring that device here. Most of these guys’ stats are just average… but there seems to be one promising person.’
The person that Hiroki was talking about, and also the person he was fixating on with his sharp gaze was Abel Fortunus. He was a rather tall guy. He had red hair and dark brown eyes. He was around 185cm tall and muscular built. With his muscularity, he was the one standing out the most in the class, as noble children normally do not train their bodies. Instead, noble children were always spoiled in their childhood, which made them into arrogant boys and girls, after growing up. Hiroki’s favorite kind of people. This just shows how different Abel was from the rest, it also raised some suspicion.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Yesterday Abel approached Hiroki and they shared a short conversation. From what Hiroki had understood, Abel’s family was originally not nobles. They just happened to be rather well-off and then one day they helped the royal army in defeating some monsters with their private soldiers. To acknowledge their great help, the king decided to give them the title of noble, raising their status.
Now that everything was said, the professor told his class.
“Ok, guys. Now that we have finished the boring part, how about I quickly fetch the [Status Stone] from the lab, and then you can check your stats?”
Hearing that, the students got agitated, as all of them wanted to see their talent. Most of them were in a delusion, already imagining becoming the strongest person in the world and asking the king for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
“I will just quickly leave. In the meantime, you can have a short break.”, said the professor as he hastily left the classroom.
The moment the door closed behind the professor, most of the students stood up and began to talk. The groups, that had formed themselves already yesterday, came together and started talking.
Also, Hiroki and his friends began to chat, though Yasuo wasn’t with them, as he turned over to his new-found friends and started talking with them.
At first, Aiko wanted to engage in conversation with him and bring him back to their group, but after receiving a dry response like “Mhh…yeah”, they decided to ignore Yasuo for the time being.
‘I thought we agreed on staying together in this world… Gosh, this guy.’
Abel, who was sitting on the opposite side of the class peeked over at Hiroki and his friends. As he saw that they were talking, he hesitated, but then he gathered all his courage and approached the group.
“Hello guys, mind if I join you?” he asked them.
“Of course not. Have a seat.”
They began talking and the conversation quickly shifted over to them asking Abel about his life. It was interesting hearing the story of a commoner, though he was a rich commoner, and his daily life, before gaining the title of noble. This topic didn’t last long, as Aiko began asking Abel about his training and what exercises he does. At that point, the others decided to just observe their conversation.
It seemed that all of Hiroki’s friends, except Yasuo who talked with other people the whole time, liked Abel, as he was a really kind and likable person.
Feeling as if the professor was about to return, Abel went back to his seat. It didn’t even take a minute and then the professor came back. Slamming open the door. In his hands he held a big crystal-like ball, that seemed to be the [Status Stone].
He approached the teacher’s desk and placed the sphere in the middle of it.
“Ok, everybody. I am going to call you one after another and then you come down to me and get insight into your status window. But remember, only you will be able to see them and I advise you to not share them, as it is valuable information that should not be heard by the wrong ears.”
