Chapter 19: The Magus Collegium

------------------

In an alley near the magic academy

------------------

In a dark alley that was in between two large buildings, appeared a bright light and together with it a blue circle on the ground. The circle had some runic symbols in it. One after another these symbols began to shine and as all of them were shining, the circle began to lift off the ground and float into the air. Underneath the floating circle appeared 5 figures.

“Man, I know we already got teleported quite a few times, but I’m still not used to this sensation.”, said the tallest one in the group.

Next to him stood a boy, who looked strangely similar to the tall guy, except that he was a little bit taller. If the tall guy was around 187cm, then the other one had to be around 178cm. The smaller guy was leaning against the wall with one arm and the other one was placed on his hip. He looked as if he was feeling dizzy, as he made little circular motions with his head.

“Sh-Shut up! At least none of you get as dizzy as me when teleporting. You better be happy!”, said the guy as he was leaning against the wall.

Another guy walked up to him and patted his hand on the dizzy guy’s shoulder as if he were to comfort him. But it seemed that the dizzy guy didn’t really appreciate that consolation because he forcefully shook off the guy’s hand from his shoulder.

The man whose hand just got shaken off laughed.

“You know, technically I could make it so that none of you would feel anything, neither sickness nor any other sensation! Buuut… where would be the fun if everything was perfect, don’t you agree Aiko?”, it was Hiroki who said that just now as he put on a bright grin.

“Shut up Hiroki, you incompetent God!”, answered Aiko as he got away from the wall and began to stand straight. He glared at Hiroki, anger in his eyes.

Gaia, who was also in their group, clung herself to Hiroki’s arm as she interrupted their little argument.

“I don’t want to ruin your fun, but I would suggest we get going. The entrance ceremony starts in 3 minutes.”, she reminded them.

As they realized that, they immediately let go of their anger and were about to start, when they were interrupted a second time. But this time by non-other than Yasuo.

“Wait, wait, wait. Hold on, guys. Are we all ignoring the fact that, instead of just a light, this time there was also a blue circle? Am I the only one that noticed it?”, he asked them.

His friends looked at each other with an annoyed look, then they looked back at Yasuo. Hiroki rolled his eyes.

‘Dude how can this guy be so random? Like, how can you notice some random and unimportant stuff, but then forget the most important thing right now… going to the damn academy! Was it a mistake to let him live here?’

“Who cares, we have other things to worry about right now.”, answered Hiroki as breathed out heavily.

“No, I want clarification. What if this is some mind-altering spell that makes us obey your every command? Maybe we didn’t even want to stay in this place, to begin with, but you used your magic tricks on us.

If I learned one thing from the few mangas that I read, then that every magic has always the same symbols or circles or whatsoever… how come then that yours are different?”

‘OMG!’, Hiroki thought as he wanted to bury his face in his hands. As he looked over to Gaia, who was still clinging to his arm, he thought: “If you guys wouldn’t be here, I would have so much more fun together with Gaia…” but he didn’t want to say it out loud.

Instead, he just shortly told Yasuo the answers that he was searching for.

“Ok, ok, I’ll tell you. In fact, this was just a normal teleportation. And the circle that appeared this time was just for decoration. If you want to, the next time I could even teleport us without all that hocus pocus.”

Hiroki told them the truth. Even before he turned into a god, when he was on this planet for the first time in his life, he had always tried to change the appearance of his magic. He didn't really care about their effectiveness as long as they looked flashy. So he was always trying out new versions of his magic to find the perfect version with the most appealing look.

Yasuo was happy with that answer and believed him for the time being, though he still had a suspicious look in his eyes. And as soon as they were finished, they rushed out of the alley and ran towards the school as they were a little bit in delay.

Their uniforms fluttered in the wind as they ran towards the academy’s main building.

The academy’s main building was a very large building, it had large windows on its front and the general style resembled a big gothic house, as its structure consisted mainly of bricks and some wooden elements.

The entrance looked similar to that of a Greek temple, as there were large pillars next to the stairs that lead to the entrance. The pillars were made of marble and were fluted, with an ornate capital at the top. They were placed symmetrically, creating a sense of elegance and grandeur. They were part of a porch that provided shelter at the entrance.

The entrance door was also flashy. Not as flashy as the one in the throne room of the palace of course, but this door also had its unique features. It was a large bronze door, that had carvings of mages and warriors.

On top of the door was a metallic sign with the name of the academy:

Ambrose kingdom’s academy: The Magus Collegium

“Fast, fast, we’re gonna be late”, shouted Hiroki, the leader of the group, who was going up the stairs of the entrance. He opened the two big doors and let everyone enter.

As they ran inside the hallway, they couldn’t find the auditorium.

“Where is that damn auditorium?”, shouted Eichi in frustration.

A few seconds later, they spotted a sign that showed the direction to the auditorium and followed it. As they arrived in the auditorium, the professors were already gathered on the stage and ready to begin the entrance ceremony.

Hiroki and his group nervously searched the nearest empty seats and sat down, as they breathed heavily from all the running. Luckily, they were able to sit together in one row. Now that they made it in time, they just had to wait for the ceremony to start.
