Elven Lies I Chapter 52 : The Dead Mages

CHAPTER 52

THE DEAD MAGES

Mentioning Samson was unofficially banned in the world, he almost sent the world into a war between Elves and Humans, and Delimira asking about him does not look right, so Sierra replied to her straightforwardly.

We will not be discussing a war maniac. Parvians are off the topic from now on, understand Ms Winters.

Delimira sat down in disappointment. She had her own reasons to know about it. After all, her life got messed up because of an Ancient's meddling in Elven affairs. things are escalating in a direction Hans could not understand so he asked her quickly,

What was that?

She questioned back,

What?

Ancients, why do you want to surpass them?

That's none of your business, shorty.

Hans ignored her insult and asked again,

Then, what about Samson surpassing the Ancients?

Delimira looked at him with doubtful eyes,

You said, he was your hero, but you don't even know his most-known achievement?

Hans's curiosity slammed his pride down and he accepted his lack of knowledge and urged her to tell him. It was all because he could not ask things about him from his grandparents in fear of saddening them. But unlike her condescending attitude, she answered him this time,

You know sometimes an Ancient comes to us, I mean we don't have any means to stop their demands. One of them went to Parv and demanded something, their king didn't like it and beat the shit out of him. It was the first time an Ancient got beaten up, so before Parv could suffer their retaliation, king Samson went to Madaruka alone and the conclusion of their so-called talk was, all Ancients were forbidden to enter Parv.

What did they talk about?

Seriously, King Samson was not known for his conversational skills, idiot. In my mother's words, "He spared them".

Wow, then he beat everyone there.

No shit.

Then what about me being talking of him is different than you being the one to talk?

Because unlike you, I am not deifying him. He was the bad guy, the only thing I am interested in is how he achieved the strength to oppress the Ancients.

Hans was not getting any clear idea and in all their conversation Chris stayed silent. Hans asked her again,

Have you ever seen him, I mean there was not a single picture of him.

Delimira stare at him for a moment, making him nervous and said,

Naah, after the war, his records were erased by Alliance.

She turned towards Sierra on the podium and said,

The only people who know about him aside from Parv are his parents.

Hans was also looking at her grandmother, feeling that there was a lot he didn't know about his fake father. Another student asked Sierra,

Greetings dean, what are the professions I can get after becoming a graduate?

Sierra showed a warm smile that Hans was familiar with and replied to her,

Since I am a mage, I’ll start with professions exclusively for mages,

First, is the SpellMasters, only mages with the highest academic performance got to choose it because they will be responsible for creating new spells.

Second, is the RoyalMage, the mages who are known to be strongest among their peers will be scouted by different royal families allowing them to bask in glory and fame. These mages earn most of the money among any mage profession. There is a sub-branch of this profession Which is called FreeLancers that can be recruited on a contract basis by anyone who desires their services.

The third one is the Holy Mages, apart from healers those who wish to serve the temple of their ethnicity can go there for recruitment. I myself was chosen for the Yudwin temple and finally retired as the high priestess, the holyMages hold a significant amount of political power since believers of the gods follow them blindly.

The fourth one is Enchanters, these mages work on creating artefacts along with blacksmiths. They also enhance weapons and defensive items by imbuing those things with magic and mana stones. It also has a wide variety of it that you will explore more of later.

The last one is not known to many, but those mages research the worldly phenomenon and try to discover new methods and study things like sunstones, these mages are known as Mage Researchers. It is not a popular profession but it is needed right now. Concordia recently established this section in the Mage department and Mage tower is leading this right now.

Sierra just finished her explanation and a student of ember hairs raised his hand, she let the boy ask,

“So which is better, Concordia’s Mage Department or Mage Tower?”

Sierra didn't think twice and answered the boy truthfully

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Of Course, Mage Tower.

Everyone was expecting her to take Concordia’s side since she was part of it but Sierra answered in a way that no one expected. The students were mumbling with a confusing face, but she interjected and asked the whole class

You all are wondering since the Mage tower is stronger, so you must go to Mage tower in future, but do you know why is that?

No one replied again so she answered,

More than seventy per cent of mages in mage tower comes from Concordia, students that graduated from Academy would apply there as mages.

She paused for a brief moment and continued,

Mage tower strictly follows social hierarchy, even nobles get treated according to their ranks. So stop dreaming of going there now and start working hard. Before inviting you to take the admission test, you were all monitored for more than a year, so you don't need to belittle, you are competent enough to make your dreams come true by yourself.

Sierra looked at the wall clock and said

Looks like our time for today is over. I‘ll be seeing you children if we could schedule another guest lecture, please try to find the same things that I talked about in respect of knights too.

All students greeted the Dean by following Chris and Delimira. Hans wanted to talk with Chris about what was his beef with Samson. Knowing what his eyes were asking him, Chris said to him first.

Sorry about it, but because of your idol my family suffered a lot, so will you please not ask about it?

Hans realised that his father was a diplomat from the human side living in Clandor, so there might have been some mishaps during the war, he let go of his curiosity, but there was something bugging him so he plainly asked him,

Then, you don't have problems learning with Rudolf, after all, he was his father/teacher?

No, because no matter what Sir Rudolf doesn't mix personal things in his teaching and I am the same. I have no qualms with him, he was just the man who raised him, it's not his fault that situation turned this way.

Hans sighed on hearing this, it was proof that they had bad blood between them. He responded,

Then Chris you better never mention anything bad about king Samson to him. He is not a man who would take any insult about his son.

I am not that dense Hans, but thanks.

Hans was worried about his friend’s future but the day was already tiring enough, the incident in the library, the fight with Gazel and a long lecture with dean Sierra. The three of them were exhausted, the trio broke up and Delimira went on her own way. She needed to confirm some things with her mother.

AT CONCORDIA BOARD HALL

The executives were involved in a heated discussion and suddenly someone shouted,

You are out of your mind, Walter.

Walter had brought Gazel in front of everyone and was accusing him of various charges of intent to kill, bribing a professor, organising an illegal company and forcing his social status on other students

The shouting man yelled once more,

Do you take us as a joke? You clearly schemed this and it's so obvious too.

Walter knocked the Elven Boy out and confidently said,

So you like the odds of the hot potato’s (Hans’s) assassination attempt over my scheme?

Assassination, my ass, it's just a children’s scuffle, we could have managed this with some punishment.

Walter sighed as he spoke while counting in fingers,

Norwin, Rudolf, Sierra and who knows what will get involved. The only condition Sir Rudolf stated was to let his boy unharmed and on just his second day an elf of the Elven council tried to harm him.

The shouting man refuted,

That's not happened, you… what do you want to achieve?

Walter interjected,

House Sentinels' reformation, put pressure on our Elven Friends and save this (Gazel) stupid brat's life. I want to send him back to his country so his death would not be our responsibility.

Do you think, the council boy will die by Samson's child?

No, Parvians are on the move, they already killed three elves of Clandor because those stupid bastards nudged their young prince in the wrong way. Parvians are coming and I do not want Concordia to become a battlefield between them and Elves.

Then you shouldn't have let the situation explode, you intentionally created the strife...

Yes so his expulsion will be imminent, we don't need Parvians on our tails.

Another director exploded,

Do you think we are scared of that regressed nation?

No, but can you name a single country crazy enough to bear its fang on us except those bastards?

Chairman's proxy was present and after some deliberation, he spoke,

What do you propose?

Walter showed his confident smile and said,

Play along with my scheme, the focus of the event would be me not the boy.

How?

Let's play this way, a director was caught taking bribes and got suspended, from further investigation our knights found out about Gazel of Sentinels, doing any shit as he pleased. So we charged him for the crimes that I mentioned and this will help Professor Winters to strictly reform Sentinels so council children can tone down a bit.

Aredhel who was taking everything till now interjected,

I don't need your help in managing my kids.

But you should not deny riding the wave, Winters.

Aredhel was silent, no matter how much she hated this, it was an ideal solution than handling the scorn of those three monsters (Norwin, Sierra and Rudolf). Concordia Union (main force) was already dispersed after the events of the Utar Barrier cracks.

The Chairman's proxy commented,

If that was you after then you should not have let them fought Walter but whatever.

The remaining six directors discussed everything among themselves and decided to go with Walter’s suggestion and release another order to strictly monitor the children from the Elven Council. The Council and Parv, both were like wounded beasts and it was better not to provoke either of them.

For maintaining amicable relations with The Council, the family barring of Gazel was cancelled and a personal letter, only to be seen by his father that explained how Gazel almost became the spark igniting a war, was sent along with him,

Aredhel agreed to their orders and it was time to honour the deal with Walter for sparing Delimira from this mess. She said to the Board,

I am taking back my candidacy from the glory wars junior league, professor Walter can have it, I have a lot on my plate right now and Professor Walter seems out of work for a while with his bribery suspension.

The Board didn't need a lot of time to discuss it since both parties were agreeing without any objection and Walter chuckled inside because the way Aredhel gave up her candidacy looked like she was throwing away the chance not because she lost to him.

Her way of giving things up was as classy as it could get but Walter accepted it and was finalised as the leading professor for Glory Wars the next year.
