CHAPTER 110
THE ANNOYING ROYALTY (2)
It was quite the adventure for Abraham to assist his father, King Samwell, on his journey to the Alliance, and he was enjoying the travels if he was honest. Being in the fifth year of Concordia, he hardly got any chances to spend time with his father, and when his father declared that he was going to stop by Edenberg County, his joy became doubled since he was mostly learning the management and administration in Concordia. There were hardly any encounters between him and the Dean of Knights, Rudolf Edeberg, the man he respected most after his grandfather.
With these thoughts lingering, he waited, anticipating his father to ask him to introduce himself to the Count couple. “I’m the second prince, Abraham, and this is my only sister, Cynthia,” he said with every ounce of respect he could show.
“Are you the slut I’m seeing all over the royal capital?” the princess of Grimgar said, spoiling Abraham’s effort, “Hey, Cynthia —” he clenched her hand, but the water was already spilt. “Excuse me,” Delimira spoke up first.
“Aren’t you the one striping in posters, or am I wrong?” Cynthia asked as if she didn’t say anything rude, but Sierra meddled in, “Princess Cynthia, she is my disciple and child of a family friend.” This meant a warning, but being a royalty, it sounded to her as a plea to stop. However, she was not gonna stop there. This was coming from her damaged pride. She was a tri-attribute mage herself, studying in the mage tower, and was a fourth circle mage at the mere age of fifteen. And because of the overwhelming talent she possessed, she could see the vast amount of mana inside Delimira in just two circles. And her having the quad element mana was not hard to sense either. If that was not enough, she was far greater beauty than her as many had said in the Mage tower. So things kept adding, and her inferiority complex gave her a huge blow.
She remarked to Sierra, “If she was this precious to you, then you should have stopped her from stripping like a slut in the advertisement —”
“Cynthia, stop this,” Abraham shouted, but the princess jibed him instead, “What? Do you also want her skirt like every other horny dog in the capital — ”
“YOU GUYS ARE DIGGING YOUR GRAVE HERE” Vanessa inserted herself in the conversation, but her word choice was too grave, alerting everyone in the mansion. However, even when her father is signalling her to stop, Cynthia didn’t care, “You are just a daughter of a dominion knight. How dare a peasant like you threaten me.”
Vanessa remained calm and shifted her gaze towards the king himself, she asked in a grim tone, “Are you sure you wanna do this.” And Samwell understood that it had gone too far, he was here for a friendly visit not to create tension between future pillars of Grimgar kingdom, “Cynthia, Stop this instant,” he said with a serious tone and looking at the Count couple, he sincerely apologised, “She is my only daughter so I spoiled her a bit too much.” A King apologising for things like children's squabbles was unheard of, so Rudolf accepted, and since Samwell stepped in, there was no reason to stretch this long. Sierra was checking on her disciple, and Vanessa intervened again, “Do not let Hans know about this —”
“I’m not insane, senior,” Delimira responded with a wry smile. She was mocked all her life, and this much was nothing. But after receiving care of Edenberg's household, she grew a bit soft, so the comment and the gaze of Princess Cynthia had left a bad taste in her mouth. Though, it was not like she could go ballistic like Hans, so she just gritted her teeth and let it be. However, even after the King apologised in person, the mood remained gloomy in the hall. So Rudolf broke the silence and, aiming at Samwell, said, “When the formality is over, we’ll have some conversation about this, like gentlemen.”
“Can’t you just let it go?” the king asked in return, but Rudolf was adamant, “I should, but when I think deeply, it seems the children don't know who I am these days. I even went nuts on several accounts, but kids these days keep forgetting —”
“Talking about kids,” Samwell dodged the conversation and interrupted him, “Where did you send my nephew, sir Alastor?”
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
“You are dumb or what?” Rudolf raised his voice, alerting every one of the royal knights again. Observing the sudden change, he calmed down a little and whispered, “You wanted him in this mess. Do you want to charge us with treason that badly, or what?” This made Samwell chuckle, and he responded, holding himself back a little, “Well, if he was here, the possibility of having that would be very high.” He kept laughing for a while, so Sierra chimed in, “I would’ve asked my DISCIPLE to show you around, but chances of happening that went poof, so how about you two sit the boring conversation with adults,” she said staring at the royal children and asked Delimira to go do her daily tasks.
For an hour, they discussed and pondered over the Eclipse incident, and Rudolf shared the news he got from Dijkstra, omitting many details, of course. But when things started to settle in, Samwell asked Rudolf, “I heard, Hans met the Parvians.” And Rudolf was not surprised by that, it was not uncommon for a king to have many eyes and ears in every corner of the kingdom, and a cautious person like Samwell has to have them. But Rudolf simply replied, “You’ve to ask this from the brat directly. Hodges,” he asked to bring Hans into the hall, and surprising everyone, Hans came drenched in alcohol’s scent.
“What were you doing?” Rudolf asked in irritation. So Hans snarkily replied, “Drinking, what else.”
“Don’t tell me you smoke too?” he took another jab or tried to, but the boy was way ahead of him. “I should quit that, right gramps?”
“Agh,” Rudolf grunted in silence, “Ah, my neck” he clasped the back of his neck and whined, but Hans shifted his focus on their guest instead of enjoying the miserable expression of his. “So what do we have here? I thought it was more of a pitstop than a long visit. When are you leaving King Samwell.” he said, looking down at the king. And as he expected, someone took it as a thorn in their throat. “Not your majesty, not my king, no respectable titles, how dare you address him casually?” a knight yelled, but before he could finish his words, he suddenly fell on his knee, throwing a blood geyser through his mouth, and Hans commented without even looking at the knight, “You should control your dogs well, King Samwell,” he said with a voice filled with arrogance. Samwell mumbled as he shifted his gaze from Hans to his knight kneeling behind the boy, “That was a dominion knight —”
“He'll live, don’t worry, I don’t start a losing fight, but one should adhere to the proper manners. How dare this peasant to get loud with me.” And as his voice was the mandate of heavens, the knight vomited more blood. But this was not the end of his suffering, clenching his heart, he struggled like a fish out of the water and finally collapsed into the ground. Even when their comrade fell, nobody moved. The Knights didn’t know what and how this was happening, but protecting their king prioritised everything.
However, the hot-tempered Cynthia was not that keen, she shouted, “Stop, this instant —”
“Tsk, tsk,” Hans shook his head, and turning towards the startled Samwell, he said, “A dog is one thing, but you should at least teach some manners to your daughter. At this rate, she’ll get herself killed.”
This was a challenge and mockery towards the king of this land, and no matter how much Samwell liked Hans, this crossed the line, “Are you threatening —” but before he could finish, his daughter ranted with fierceness, “You dare, threaten me.”
“Oye,” Hans responded with a heavy voice, and suddenly everyone felt the change in the room like a subtle wave had just grazed them. And they all realised the vanishing of mana, air filled with stillness and so dense that it felt like they were submerged in the water.”Do you know?” Hans asked her, “What the worse could happen if I snap your neck here, right at this very moment?”
“You —”
“And don’t give me any pathetic excuse, like I can’t cause I damn frickin can.”
Samwell found the boy’s confidence and will, shrieking loudly that he was not just saying empty words, and even if he can’t, he didn’t want to stick around to see that. Raising his head, he ordered every knight to stand down. They had already unsheathed their sword and were ready to strike any moment. But they were not the only ones, Rudolf, Sierra, and Aldrich were also ready. However, Rudolf was puzzled, “This is the fucking VoidZone, that brat pulled out the VoidZone,” he mumbled so loud that everyone heard it. This was the most terrifying skill, more commonly known as Samson’s domain, which had instilled fear in many, and the dominion knights of royal guards understood what happened to their fellow companion. It was one of the effects of VoidZone, where knights died like flies.
But breaking that silence, Hans asked Cynthia once again, “Now tell me, princess, do you know what the worst could happen if I kill you right now.” But observing the attitudes of others, she became speechless. Her confidence had taken a grave hit after learning and hearing the mumbling of the knights. This maniac could really kill her, that’s the only thing that keeps wrecking chaos in her mind. So Hans answered, “Nothing. Do you know why? Because your father is a king, he would be forced to choose between revenge and Grimgar. 'Cause no matter who came to stop me, I’ll escape and make my life goal to burn Grimgar to the ground. there are many eager to help me achieve that.” He turned to Samwell and continued, “Now, Laugh because the possibility of having that would be very high. ”
