Chapter 57 – Fear the Night, Unsheathe the Saber, Thread the Fate (XI)
Many emotions appeared in Aiden’s face at the same time.
Fear, doubt, hesitation.
But the greatest emotion in his heart was not any of it.
It was relief.
Because he knew that Lia, although hurt, was fine.
Obviously, he was surprised and frightened after seeing the scene of Lia trapping a spirit and killing a man simply by waving her hand.
But nothing of it was enough to decrease the feeling of relief he got after seeing her alive and well.
Calming himself, Aiden walked towards the place where Lia was. Then, with a shout, he called to her.
“Lia!”
But when she turned towards him, her gaze wasn’t one of love. Instead, it was one filled with malice.
However, Aiden ignored it.
He ignored the blood in the surroundings, the pain in his heart after knowing that Lia broke through core-fusing, the gaze filled with hostility in Lia’s face, and the many strange changes that happened in her body.
For Aiden, nothing of it was currently important.
In this moment, he only wished to speak to her.
“Lia.” Spoke him again, this time with a softer and gentler tone.
Hearing her name being called again, the expression of pain in the uncovered half of her face intensified, and she began to walk towards him.
The threads in the surroundings advanced towards Aiden, touching his body and gently wrapping around him.
But Aiden continued walking.
Even when the threads had wrapped all his limbs.
Even when the evil pressure from Lia impacted directly against him.
Even when the hand of Lia was pressed gently against his head.
“I’m glad that you are fine.” Were the only words coming from his mouth.
The hand of Lia, pressed against his head, caressed him gently.
But he knew.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
He knew that Lia would never hurt him.
Such was the trust he had in her.
Because of it, though he had seen the strange abilities of Lia, he didn’t fear her.
How could he fear someone who had done so much for him?
Envy? Perhaps. After all, breaking from core-forming to core-fusing had always been the goal he had been chasing from that fateful day.
But fear, fear was impossible for him.
Even if she becomes a monster, he would trust her.
And if she is unable to come back to her senses, he didn’t have any problem about dying to her.
And such trust didn’t end unrewarded.
The hand of Lia, caressing Aiden’s head, slowly descended to his face.
Then, with a very gentle touch, a sweet voice sounded.
“Young master…”
“I’m here, Lia…”
Immediately, the many threads wrapped around Aiden fell.
The tattoos, filling every corner of her snow-white skin, retracted slowly to her heart, and finally disappeared.
Her hair, filled with hundreds of different colors, returned to its beautiful and enchanting white color.
And the mask, covering half of Lia face, disintegrated in a single second.
Immediately, the beautiful green eyes of Lia fell in Aiden’s face. Without any warning, tears began to fall.
“*sob* Young master…”
“There there Lia. I’m fine, thanks to you.”
“… Young master…!”
Hugging gently her slim body, Aiden smiled reassuringly while Lia’s tears fell in his shirt.
Kissing her head softly, Aiden continued hugging her for a while, waiting for her tears end. Neither Aiden nor Lia cared for the blood or gore covering both or their bodies.
Currently, they only wanted to reassure their hearts with the calm warmth of the two.
The scene continued for a while, with Aiden hugging Lia and she crying in his chest. If not by the gory scene in the surroundings, perhaps the current image would be perfect for a painting.
But before long, Aiden felt his body give way.
For a moment, Aiden felt the strength leaving his body.
“Young master!?” Said Lia worried, but Aiden calmed her with a wave of his hand.
“Don’t worry, I’m only a bit tired. I will be fine after resting for a bit.”
Sighing in relief, Lia noticed the many injuries in Aiden’s body. Some of them were very grave; but luckily, none of them seemed life-threatening.
Similarly, Lia’s body was also filled with injuries.
No. From what Aiden could see, Lia’s wounds were even greater that his.
“It looks like we need to leave the town tomorrow…” Said him.
“I’m sorry, young master. It was my fault.”
“Don’t worry for it, Lia.” Smiled Aiden. “Nobody could have predicted something like it. I didn’t think that someone would be so bold to create such commotion in the middle of the town.”
“Perhaps, they were thinking of subjugating us quickly without attracting attention?”
“Perhaps.” Answered Aiden. “But now they left all this mess to us.”
Aiden could not help but frown while looking to his surroundings. Their current situation could not be worse. Though they were not sure why the town guards had not appeared, he knew that it was impossible to hide this commotion. And even harder to hide that they were involved in it.
Perhaps, their best solution, was to try escape before the town guards appear.
After all, Aiden had reasons to suspect that they were allied with the attackers.
“I think it is better if we return to home meanwhile.” Said he. “We could think about our course of action then.”
Nodding with her head, Lia separated her head from Aiden chest. Then, holding his body, she moved to walk towards their house.
But, how could them to know?
Fate still had another hand to play.
Suddenly, a kick impacted Lia’s back.
“Agh!”
Her body, badly injured after the many fights tonight, impacted against a wall after receiving the attack.
“*cough* You…”
But before she could speak, blood flowed from Lia’s mouth.
Then, being unable to endure the many wounds, her body fell unconscious.
The last thing she saw, was the image of Aiden crying towards her.
And a black-red haired youth smiling mockingly towards it.
“Who could have expected that you would be hiding in such place, young master.”
