Chapter 56 – Fear the Night, Unsheathe the Saber, Thread the Fate (X)

When the dark-skinned youth attacked Lia, she was able to feel it before the sword pierced her body.

But though she was able to feel the attack, she wasn’t able to avoid it completely.

As a result, when the sword arrived, her body was pierced.

However, Lia didn’t care about it.

After all, though the sword went through her, the wound was not fatal.

No, the thing that frightened Lia were the words spoken by the youth wielding the sword.

“Hurry up! Kill the boy!”

When Lia heard that words, two things passed through her mind.

The first was that, although the sword was unable to wound her gravely, it was enough to stop her and her threads from reaching Aiden in time and stop the attack coming from the other man.

And the second was that Aiden was unable to stop the attack either.

When she realized it, the last straw holding Lia’s mind together finally gave way.

The blood red color, spread around her mind, occupied the entirety of her consciousness.

Feelings of hatred, rage, fear and desperation overwhelmed her and hundreds of voices singing a cursed song invaded her head.

A laughing mask, full of many strange scribbles, occupied half of her face. It, combined with the despairing expression on the other half, gave her the image of an evil demon crying and laughing at the same time.

Then, a powerful presence spread in the surroundings with her like the center.

The powerhouses inside the town, that just a moment ago were surprised by the apparition of a martial manifestation, were astonished once more after feeling the overwhelming presence filled with evilness coming from the place where the fight was occurring.

But different from Aiden’s martial manifestation, even the common people in the town were able to detect the powerful presence being emitted from Lia.

When the presence of Lia filled completely the town, everybody from commoners to cultivators stayed silent.

Fear filled their minds.

But the one affected the most by the powerful presence was the dark-skinned youth responsible for attacking Lia.

Sean, who was currently in front of Lia, could not believe his eyes.

When he was coming towards the place of the fight, Sean found the dismembered bodies of two of the clan’s shadows. Because of it, he knew that one of the targets was more dangerous than what was suggested.

Due it, though he was many times stronger than the two shadows, he didn’t hesitate to sneak attack the girl when the opportunity appeared before him.

And as he expected, the attack was successful.

Though he was unable to kill the girl, the injury was enough to cause her to lose great part of her fighting strength.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

Sean was confident in killing the girl and completing the mission. His only preoccupation now was to do it with the least amount of time possible.

After all, he noticed the town guards forming a perimeter around the place where the fight was occurring. And though for some reason, they allowed him to pass, he knew that something was already wrong with the mission.

But it was impossible for him to predict the things that happened after it.

When he gave the order to kill the boy, something in the girl changed.

And immediately after it, the boy changed too.

Saber manifestation appeared in the boy.

And an evil presence spread from the girl.

When he noticed that something was wrong, it was too late.

Though Lia’s presence filled the town, the two attackers were the ones that felt it the most.

After all, in her mind, they were the main responsible for the state of her young master.

And though currently, her consciousness was fuzzy, instinctively she knew who were the responsible for it.

And the second soul inside her mind was more than happy to help.

Sean could be considered a very talented youngster. With his peak core-fusing realm, he was able to fight an initial stage spirit awakeningyoung spirit practitioner.

Even more astonishing was that he was able to manifest his spirit before breaking through the spirit awakening stage and becoming a young spirit.

It must be said that practically nobody was able to use the powers of his spirit before the spirit awakening stage. The ones able to do it were considered genius.

But even with it, he was unable to resist the pressure being emitted from Lia.

Fed by the dark emotions filling her, the threads around Lia became even redder, and the power behind them even stronger.

And knowing the wishes of their owner, they immediately attacked the sword wielding youth.

But at the end of the day, Sean could also to be considered a genius. Someone able to jump ranks to fight opponent. Though he was intimidated by the evil pressure, he was able to barely move his sword to block the threads.

However, how could the threads used by the fully transformed Lia to be so simple?

In the instant when the sword blocked the threads, more threads appeared in the surrounding and attacked the youth. They were like millions of little snakes winding through the wind and chasing after his opponent.

Though Sean moved to try evading the threads, they continued chasing after him restlessly. And when he tried cutting them, he found to his shock that they were harder and more resilient than he thought.

In such situation, it didn’t take long for the first thread wound around one of his legs.

Seeing the situation to take a turn for the worse, Sean didn’t hesitate to use his trump card. With a flicker from the spirit projected behind him, a dark and corrosive force filled his sword. Swinging the sword against the thread, this time he was able to cut it.

However, more threads wrapped around his body. Some of them even attacked him directly, using their resilience to try cutting his body.

More and more flickers appeared in the spirit behind him, and the corrosive force proper from the Crow family’s crow spirit filled his sword, helping him to destroy more of the threads around him.

However, it was impossible for his single sword to stop the attacks coming from many directions.

When Sean finally noticed, all his limbs had been completely tied.

Frightened, he tried circulating the corrosive force through his body to escape his bindings. Though it would cause injuries in his body, at least it was better than being dismembered like his companions.

But to his horror, an even more frightening thing happened.

The threads, that until now had been concentrated in tying his body, moved towards the spirit.

And not only were them able to tie it. They also cut completely the connection between the spirit and him.

“Impossible!” Cried him, unable to understand how something like sealing a spirit was possible.

But Lia didn’t bother answering him.

Instead, she began to walk slowly towards him.

With every step, her presence became even more ghostly and evil, and the fear filling the sword wielding youth intensified.

Then, when she reached until him, she extended her hand.

Her hand, filled with strange tattoos of indescribable meanings, touched his head slightly. Then, she spoke.

“Fate.”

Softly, like a lullaby, her voice echoed.

“Fate.”

A profound sleepiness invaded the youth mind. And a feeling of peace and calm, completely contrasting with the current situation, filled him.

An instant later, Lia retracted her hand slowly.

There, a small thread, with an almost transparent color, extended from the youth head.

Immediately, a sensation of profound fear invaded Aiden, who was observing from nearby.

It was a primal feeling, like encountering a beast or catastrophe from whom it was impossible escape.

But the Lia’s next action frightened him even more.

Holding the transparent thread in a hand, Lia extended her other hand. Then, making the figure of a blade, she swung it.

The thread was cut.

And every trace of life left the body of the youth.
