Chapter 35 – Blades vs Threads (III)

Aiden was not the only that felt the killing intent.

In fact, many of the geniuses in the town noticed the commotion.

Curious, many of them went towards the place of the commotion, intent in knowing about the ones fighting currently.

Even some of the elders accompanying the young generation paid attention to the origin of the killing intent, but after seeing it was a young girl in the peak of core-forming fighting against two late core-fusing men, apart of some admiration, they felt it wasn’t worth of their time.

After all, every one of them came accompanied for geniuses.

Only two experts left a sigh after feeling the killing intent.

One was inside a dark room in the basement of a rundown shop.

And the other was resting in a chair.

When the blades of the two men began to glow, the situation became a bit harder for Lia.

The metallic glow was apparently a kind of technique consisting in augmenting the quality of the energy in the body for a short time. It allowed for the weapons become sharper, and for the movements of Mul and Sly become faster and stronger.

But even with it, Lia was able of fighting them evenly.

It was in part thanks to the killing intent too great for someone at her age, and also because the almost spectral movements she used to avoid the two men attacks. With the use of it, she was able of even fight despite the disadvantage in numbers and cultivation.

To be sincere, Lia was never very good using movement techniques, but for some reason, she was able to move freely during this fight.

Not just it, but she was feeling her judgement becoming clearer and sharper with every passing second.

And the excitement of the fight was growing even more. Lia was feeling an incredible desire to fight and kill the two men before her.

It was at the point where she had almost forgotten about the thing she was doing in the first place.

On the other hand, the two men were growing even more nervous during the course of the fight.

For now, both noticed that their target wasn’t so weak and helpless like them thought.

It was at the point where they thought about retreating, but it was almost impossible with the many threads attacking them from every direction.

At the end, they noticed that retreating was hardly going to work and have to opt for trying kill her.

The thing is, though the technique they were using was powerful and able of augmenting their fighting strength greatly, the consumption of energy was equally so great, and the side effects were enough to left them unable of fight for almost two months.

It was the main reason because they were so hesitant about using it in the first place.

Growing desperate with every second, Mul and Sly tried with all their might reach to Lia, but she was like a phantom moving eerily, unable of being grasped by the physical world. Adding the thousands of threads constantly hindering their movements to it, they were unable of doing more than moving their blades fruitlessly.

Seeing the situation worsening even more; with Lia evading their attacks again and the threats closing quickly in them, Sly put a determined expression and decided to go for broke.

Grabbing one of his daggers with all his strength, he throwed it directly towards Lia’s heart at an astonishing speed.

Surprised, Lia saw herself unable of avoiding the attack, but the growing clarity in her mind help her to make the best decision under the circumstances.

Calling for many of the threads in the surroundings, she used it to create a shield between the dagger and her.

But at the end, the rashly arranged shield was unable of completely stopping the dagger. Cutting through the threads in an instant, the dagger continued going towards Lia.

Nevertheless, the shield fulfilled its purpose. Using the instant when the dagger was cutting the threads, Lia twisted her body to evade the dagger; but seeing she was unable of completely avoiding it, she activated a dim film of energy around her body to receive a bit more of protection.

The dagger impacted against Lia, but because of the film in her body and the fact that the dagger spends part of its strength against the shield, it was only able of leaving a tiny gash in her right arm.

However, that tiny gash was enough to change everything.

Lia could feel almost immediately her body becoming slower. In fact, the arm that was grazed for the dagger lost mobility instantly.

A thought went through her mind after noticing it.

Poison!

“You…!”

Seeing the effect of the poison in her body, Lia was incredibly enraged for their dirty tactic.

The two men, in the contrary, were exhilarated seeing it.

Immediately, the pair attacked together to end the fight sooner.

After all, not only is the effect of poison in cultivators greatly limited, but the time limit of their technique was closing too.

Seeing the blades coming towards her, Lia tried controlling the threads again, but it was harder now that she was only able of using a hand. At the end, she could only retreat awkwardly while feeling the poison spreading in her body.

The brawny man smirked seeing her clumsy dodge and raised his blade. At this point, he was only thinking in killing this demon quickly.

Seeing the blade coming closer, the face of Aiden appeared in Lia mind, and in that moment, a voice sounded inside her.

Let me out…

The voice was very sinister but at the same time tempting, like a devil of hell. Lia instinctive reaction was rejecting it, but the face of Aiden in her mind made her hesitate.

In the moment when the sword was about cut her, and she decided let ‘it’ out…

… Another sword appeared from a side and stopped the attack.

“Not only you bully a girl weaker than you with numbers, but when you are losing you use poison!? Shameless!”

A black-haired girl was holding the sword with a hand.

Instead of being described like beautiful, the girl was better called cute. A white dress covered her body until her knees and a headband decorated her head with a blue flower.

The girl was emitting a nice air around her. Despite her frowning expression, her face gave a lively impression at everybody around her. And Lia noticed that her strength seemed even deeper than the two men.

The brawny man, Mul, made a frightened expression seeing the girl. As for Sly, his complexion became pale. Apparently, they were able of recognize her.

The girl retired her sword and stood before Lia. Then, ignoring completely the two frightened men, she turned towards Lia and smiled charmingly to her.

“Sister, you are incredible! Even I wasn’t so strong when I was at the core-forming stage!”

Feeling the pure admiration in the girl eyes, the red color in Lia’s eyes receded visibly. Then, with a surprised and dumbfounded expression, she nodded confusedly.

“T-Thanks… B-But, who are you? W-What are you doing here?”

“Huh? Had you no noticed?” Answered the girl while tilting her head. “Many people were attracted to your fight! Look, they are observing!”

Looking around, both Lia and the pair were surprised to see many people looking to them in the surroundings. Apparently, they were all cultivators attracted by the commotion.

“We all were seeing how sister beat the bad guys, but when I see them being so shameless as to use poison, I could not resist coming to help. Hmph! Truly shameless men!”

Lia was surprised to see that even the girl that Aiden recognized in Heavens’ Net was observing the fight from afar. She even noticed a few youths with atmospheres similar to that girl and the lively girl before her.

Obviously, they were geniuses of their respective factions.

Understating the situation, Lia smiled in relief and tried giving he thanks to the girl for saving her, but before her could speak, a cry echoed in the surroundings.

“Lia!!!”
