Chapter 15 – Fate is Not Decided for Your Origin

A warm ray of light fell on the girl’s face.

Feeling the breeze caressing her, Lia awakened to see the sun shining brightly against her, passing through the leaves of the trees gently.

Immediately, Lia felt a body below her. Seeing the quiet face of Aiden sleeping on the ground, she could not help but cry scared.

“Young Master!!!”

Holding Aiden’s arms, Lia shook his body strongly and tried to wake him up.

“Young master! Young master! Wake up!”

“C’mon Lia, be more careful. I feel like dying now you know…”

Awaking from Lia’s shaking, Aiden spoke grumpily and tried standing up, only for Lia begin to sob with tears flowing in her cheeks.

“*Hic* Y-Young master *hic*… Aauuuuuhhh!!!”

“*Sigh* Come here.”

Seeing Lia crying loudly Aiden could only give her a hug and wait for her to calm down.

Lia continued crying for almost half an hour. Then, sniffling a few times more, she silently put her face in Aiden’s chest as if confirming his existence.

Standing in that position for a little bit more, Aiden finally extended his hand and raised Lia’s face. Then, smiling gently, he wiped her tears and spoke with a soft tone.

“Let’s go. You need to clean yourself of all that blood.”

With that like a cue, Lia seemed to recollect the things what happened last night. Then, finally noticing the strong smell of blood in the air, she wore a frightened expression before going in vomit.

Five minutes later, Lia was sitting against a tree with a confused expression on her face. Her hands were slightly trembling, and her eyes were locked in the surroundings with a terrified gaze.

Aiden was sitting silently beside her. His expression, though a bit confused, completely firm, not bothered in the slightest for the bloody smell in the air.

After a few seconds in that state, Lia finally spoke.

“It… I-It was d-done for me?”

Hearing the trembling voice of Lia, Aiden only nodded and maintained silence.

Lia looked even more distressed seeing it. For a moment, she collected her thoughts before speaking again with difficulty.

“H-How I did it?”

Gathering his thoughts, Aiden frowned and explained briefly what he knew.

“Though I could not see everything, I think that ‘It’ inside you awakened and help you to kill the beasts. When I awoke, your appearance was completely different from normal. It was filled with an evil and powerful presence and looked more like a ghost than human. To be sincere, I’m not completely sure of how to describe it…”

Lia heard silently without speaking. Aiden, seeing it, continued sharing his thoughts.

“To be sincere, though this is no the first time you change, this is the first time the change is so great. Normally, you only become a bit violent and easily irritable; however, this time you became also very powerful, almost like someone completely distinct. To be sincere, your power was at least at the spirit awakening boundary, perhaps even higher. I can’t understand the cause of the change though...”

Pondering about it, Aiden was too concentrated to notice the worsening expression in Lia.

Biting her lips, she clenched her hands and spoke resolutely as if making an important decision.

“… Young master, I think I must leave.”

Surprised, Aiden turned towards Lia and saw the expression on his face. Feeling something wrong with her, Aiden spoke urgently.

“Lia, what is wrong!?”

Closing her eyes, Lia resolutely spoke suppressing the tears in her face.

“Young master, I think that I must leave. It’s dangerous if I continue being with you.”

“Lia, what do you mean? Though it’s true that the change this time was a bit extreme, this is not the first time something like it happens, so wh–.”

“No, young master, this time is different…”

Shaking her head, Lia continued.

“Though I had changed before, I’m always in control of what happens. This time, this time was different… I was unable to control what I was doing… I can only remember a great desire to destroy everything… It, it was terrifying…”

Smiling gently, Aiden tried consoling her.

“Don’t worry, don’t you were able of awakening when I called you? I think that you are exa–”

“No!!!”

Hearing Lia’s cry, Aiden was surprised, but Lia continued with her words without paying him attention.

“I remember it, Young master! At that moment, I was going to kill you! Even though I was able to stop in time, I don’t know if I will be able to do it again! Don’t you understand! I wanted to kill you! At that moment, I was going to kill you young master!”

Hearing Lia outburst, Aiden could only remain silent. Lia lowered her voice and continued speaking; her voice was filled with sobs and fear.

“Young master, I could not continue living if I know I hurt you… So… I think it’s better if I leave. I think that if I’m away then there is no possibility of hurting you.”

For a moment, only silence remained in place.

Aiden directed his gaze at the sky and sighed slowly, then, opening his mouth, began to speak like if reminiscing about the past.

“You remember Lia? The day when we met you were being chased by a group of men. Back then, you were only a shadow of your current self. You didn’t even try protecting yourself… You remember what you told me when I rescued you back then?”

Pausing for a moment, Aiden smiled thinly remembering that day.

“Back then, you told me that I better go away. You told me you were a cursed creature stitched of parts, and that you only were able to bring misfortune…

“Tell, me Lia, do you remember what I answered back then…?”

Lia remained silent for a moment. Then, when Aiden thought that she wasn’t going to speak, he heard her voice whispering softly.

“You told me that at the end you were someone ‘discarded’ too, so perhaps the two of us were perfect together…”

Thinking about the words uttered for him back then, Aiden could not help but smile and speak brightly.

“You know Lia, even if you are a monster, if you were stitched of different parts, if you were the result of a failed experiment or if you have something dangerous inside you; it no changes the fact that you were the only ray of hope I found back then. Before knowing you, even I was convinced that creating a spirit was impossible. But now, I know that there is hope. Even though it is imperfect, there is someone with an artificial spirit…

“Tell me, Lia, if no because of you, how can I advance so much in the path of creating a spirit? Tell me, Lia, what can I do if you are gone. To be sincere, I prefer to die before losing my only hope to make my dream true Lia. I’m sorry, but even if you want to escape, I won’t allow for you leave me behind! I will definitively not allow it!”

Putting an expression of resolve, Aiden smiled.

“Besides, don’t you think that it is easier to find a method to control ‘that state’ than making a spirit from zero? So, don’t worry too much. I think we will find a solution at your problem soon.”

Then, moving his hand to grab Lia’s, him breathed deeply and spoke.

“And if there is someone in this world I trust will never hurt me, then Lia, you are the one… I’m sure when the time comes where you are about hurt me, then, just like before, you will be able to stop yourself. I believe it.”

Feeling the hand holding hers and hearing the words spoken by Aiden, a tear slowly fell from Lia eyes and a smile formed naturally in her mouth.

And whispering softly, she made an oath this day.

“I promise you, young master…”

… Even if I must kill myself to do it…
