BOOK 2 INTERLUDE – JULIA’S TEST DRIVE
Johnny would attend to fixing the prototype whenever he got the chance. If he wasn’t training or learning something he was doing his best to the maximum performance, he could out of the prototype. The girls had really gotten curious about it. Julia was the one with the most interest. Since it had been revealed her brother had turned into a mystic rift eater. Somehow had fused into the prototype when Johnny beat him. Her brother couldn’t fully recall the events. For some reason or another. He would forget who he was and then remember later.
Johnny let her stay with him anytime they were both free, while he was handling the prototype. Julia was trying to help her brother recover what memories he could. She would sit in the driver’s seat of the prototype and chat with him over the terminal. Johnny sometimes would show her how things worked. He had the safety switch on for Julia. That way she could mess around with the prototype. The terminal would show what would happen as in a simulated mode.
Although one day while Johnny was working on the prototype. He had forgotten to turn the safety switch on. He had gotten distracted with a part he needed for the dimensional drive. It was the last piece from the schematic that Albert had shown him. Unfortunately, getting the part was going to be very hard. The part was a proto design by D.R.I.F.T. and since there was no way back to Earth. Johnny would have to look elsewhere.
Julia was sitting in the driver’s seat. She was looking around at something new to look at. She looked over to see a lever with different letters written there. Johnny had told her that was used to put the prototype into different motions. He told the D put into a forward motion. N kept in gear but didn’t go anywhere. R put the car in reverse. She was curious of what would happen if she put it in D. She pulled the lever with her right hand. She then floored the gas petal for fun. She wanted to make the prototype rev. Whenever Johnny was in the driver’s seat. He would like to rev the engine and got a kick out of it. Julia wanted to surprise Johnny with the engine revving. He wasn’t surprised when the engine revved. What surprised Johnny is when Julia took off at top speed. He was examining the dimensional drive from the back of the car when she took off. Johnny stood there in shock at what had just happened. He watched Julia plow throw a wall into another and more.
“Albert, can you stop the prototype and fast.” Johnny said as he ran out of the building after Julia.
“I am taking manual control of the prototype as we speak.” Albert gave commands to the prototype as he took control. The first thing he did was take over control of the steering of prototype. Next, he hit the e-brake and applied all the features to slow it down. Soon Albert had gotten a response that the prototype had stopped. “The prototype has stopped.”
Johnny sighed with relief as he continued to run…
Julia was in full panic as the prototype was going over 300 mph. It had crashed through too many walls and objects as Julia watched the scenery go by in a blur. Thankfully, the prototype began to slow as it skidded hard. The prototype then turned off.

Unfortunately for Julia she was thrown into the steering wheel with a thud. She heard her nose crack from the impact and screamed in pain. She didn’t expect the prototype to be able to slow that fast. She quickly healed her nose.
She quickly looked around wondering how she had stopped. “Julia are you all right.” She heard Johnny’s voice over the radio.
She just muttered back. “Yeah, I am fine.”
It took Johnny a solid ten minutes of flying from Margaret and Qin to get to her. Cloe and Lisa had also joined as well. Johnny knew he was in a bit of trouble from what just happened.
Julia climbed her way out of the prototype to look at all the destruction she had accidentally caused. She sat beside the prototype as she did. She was pretty shaken up. Orion isn’t going to be happy about this. Julia thought grimly.
Johnny and the girls finally reached her. Johnny first checked on Julia who was quivering from the rush. She assured him she was fine. She had told him she had broken her nose but was able to heal it quickly.
Johnny scolded her for not wearing a seatbelt. After that he checked the prototype for any damage. Johnny was surprised again that the chassis had no dents. Gotta love an almost indestructible frame. Thought Johnny.
The prototype had ended up leaving a 5 mile long trail of continuous destruction. The building it was being housed in and a few others took the most brunt of the damage. Everything else was torn up farmland or small objects in the path of the prototype.
Orion soon arrived after hearing what had occurred. He was not happy with Julia. “This was very reckless of you Julia. You could have gotten someone hurt or killed with your little joy ride. Thankfully no one was involved.” Orion said with an angry tone. “I am going to have to make an example of you sadly. So, someone else doesn’t get the bright idea of doing something so idiotic.” Orion had Julia restraint.
Johnny got back into the prototype with the other girls and headed back for the building the prototype was being housed to be worked on. “I hope Orion isn’t too rough on her. Johnny said with a sigh. The other girls reassured him Julia had been through worse from Orion. She was most likely going to get a slap on the wrist.
Julia was soon released but was denied access being around the prototype for a week as her punishment. After a week, she could see Johnny with the prototype again. Although she was made clear she couldn’t sit in the prototype even with Johnny around or if he was driving.
The whole event made her look bad and made her feel down. Johnny felt bad for her and wanted to make it up to her. He had an idea and cleared it with Orion after a few hours of explaining and adding more safety features so it wouldn’t happen again. Just to make sure Orion was okay with what he was doing. Johnny took the tires and wheels off the prototype. He even tried to drive it just to prove it to Orion. With no wheels the prototype couldn’t move an inch. This was enough to satisfy Orion.
Johnny’s next point is what sealed the deal. Johnny wanted to get back at the wheel for derby demo racing after being bored for so long. Albert and him had discussed he turn the prototype into a racing simulator.
Johnny explained he could use the simulator to teach the girls to drive without having to be driving. The whole concept was confusing to Orion. Johnny had to show him with the help of Albert. It took a long, good persuasion on Johnny’s part. He reminded Orion about the time that he was incapacitated. What if the same thing had happened again. The talk was enough to persuade Orion. He gave the okay for Johnny to teach them how to use the prototype.
