CHAPTER 21 - The Obsidian City

The starship headed in a northwest direction to a new location. They were leaving the furnace peaks as they now flew over the emerald forest. The destination was beyond there.

The starship soon made it way over the forest as Johnny got a look at an impressive ancient looking city surrounded by a massive lake. The outer northern and eastern part of the city faced a clear blue ocean. The western part was overlapped by volcanic mountains. While the southern part was dominated by towering trees.

“Impressive isn't it.” Said Qin's father to Johnny. Johnny was starled as he responded.

“Yeah, looks like the ancient city of Tenochitlan back from my world, or what it looked like before it was destroyed by the Spanish conquistadors.” Johnny replied.

“Hmm, sometime you have to tell me about that story. For now we are getting ready to land. I do believe you being here with them is going to make things a little complicated.” Qin's father said to Johnny as the starship lowered onto an island.

The starship soon landed as Johnny could see red and blue colored dragonoids mooring down the ship. Besides the dragoniods. Johnny got a look at another group of individuals. The beings were reptilian humanoid in shape in various colors. To Johnny they looked like by petal alligators.

“This was the first city we ended up landing in after our escape from our doomed world. The attackers also followed us here, but we were able to hide. It took a lot of trust to show we weren't invaders with these people. We were able to learn from these people after gaining our trust.”

“How exactly did you gain there trust?” Johnny asked with curiosity.

“This city holds an ancient artifact that the captain of the Cerberus tried to steal once after filling us. We were able to manipulate him into thinking it was somewhere else and never here. We ended up keeping their city out of the eyes of our old enemies.”

“After doing that, the inhabitants opened up more to us. The city’stats leader even told us about the furnace peaks. Mostly everyone left to the new area to leave tge inhabitants in peace. Some of our race decided to stay behind. That is where my wife and I were chosen to represent as trade partners with the inhabitants.”

“Although, things were peaceful for a while until a few months ago when those rift eaters started showing up. We had no idea what to make of the situation until we found out that old enemies from our doomed world had tracked our location and proximity to this new world. We were duscoverd until just recently. It is beyond us how they managed to find us.

“Looking at things now we may think this loathing one may be responsible. Things have been very uneasy for all of us lately. The inhabitants still trust us, but new faces they all see as a threat. That is why we need to be careful while we meet up with the city's leader. I've already told Orion and the others. It seemed everyone was more worried about you getting into trouble.”

Qin's father stopped speaking for Johnny to take it all in.

Meanwhile, in the crowd watching the battered starship land. One of the on lookers smiled cruelly to themselves. He was wearing a glamour to fit in with the crowd.

Looks like ‘The Exploiter's’ failure was true after all. Which means I get to have a shot at you next Johnny.

The being mused to himself as he disappeared from sight. He was going to have fun with his time with Johnny. He just now needed to go and prepare.

Qin's father had most of the radiant alliance remain onboard. He had the portal mage with her guards and Orion escorted together. There group was escorted by Qin's mom along with other red dragoniods.

Meanwhile, Johnny and his girls were escorted in another group. Led by Qin's father and Yin, with a group of blue dragonoids. He had to leave the prototype behind on the ship to his disappointment.

“Try not to make eye contact. They concider eye contact of new arrivals as a challenge. I forgot to mention the more hostile citizens would track you down by your scent. Being seen alone is risky. That is why I am escorting you.” [QINS F] gave Johnny a warning as they began to step out of the airship

Johnny looked at the guards surrounding them. Johnny took Qin's father's warning as he used his peripheral vision to see the crowd. He was met with wary eyes, while others filled with hatred.

Both groups eventually made it to there location as they were escorted in. There had been a few minor incidents along the way with some citizens trying to break into the formation to attack the groups.

With safe arrival they were let into a giant stone step pyramid from the bottom. The group had taken a secret entrance to hide away while the leader of the city was informed.

After some time waiting Qin's mom and Yin were led by a servant to meet with the city leader.

Johnny watched as they left and they were left with Qin's father.

He walked over to Qin to ask a question. “Why did Yin go instead of your father?” Johnny asked.

“We need someone with authority here or otherwise the others would just do as they please. We also need him here so no one thinks of getting the jump on everyone else.” Qin told Johnny

Eventually Qin's mom and Yin returned with the servant.

“The city leader will see us now.” [QINS M] spoke.
