CHAPTER 8 – TRACKING THE AIRSHIP
The group arrived where the airship had been destroyed. All that remained were just bits of the burnt hull.
Qin landed her summon along with two of the elites to look for the aether signature for the trail. Qin pulled out a device they had grabbed before leaving. The device was basically a Geiger counter for mana. The device was hooked up to her summon as she activated it.
Within a minute she was able to have her summon relay her finding to the other summons everyone had.
It looks like the airship came from the south-eastern direction about 150 miles from here. Qin
Thanks for the update. Yin
Now we know where to look. It is time we head that way. For now, everyone will stay low just above the overhead clouds. If we spot enemies, we need to have the advantage. Do not engage unless you are either spotted or they attack. Yin.
Qin put the device back as she got back on her summon. She got back up in the air followed by the other two. The three regrouped with the others where they both broke back into two sets of five in a formation. They flew in a v formation with two elites on each outside of the each formation to spot any hazards. Yin was in the lead group along with Cleo and Julia, while Lisa and Qin followed behind in the second formation. The last elite led the group they were in.
The group remained vigilant as they made their way towards their target. The trip heading for their destination ended up being eventful. Even though they spotted patrols of scout from the Palasco Faction. They eventually had to come up with a new game plan as the scouting groups were becoming too numerous the closer, they got.
The group had decided to land near some thick brush near a river that winded its way towards their destination. They were discussing how they should approach the next step. Being in the air was riskier waiting to figure out what to do.
Qin was standing with Yin discussing what they should do.
“I don’t think we can fly any higher than we are without getting spotted. If we are seen. I’m sure the settlement we are heading to will have an air warning alarm go off. We have another ten miles to go before we reach our target.” Yin spoke to Qin.

Julia approached the group to see what the fuss was about when she heard more.
“I may be able to help with our problem. Although, my idea is very dangerous so I would need someone to watch my back.” She spoke to Qin and Yin as they turned to her attention.
“I was thinking of casting a concealing spell around the whole group. I will plan to use the most basic of the spell, so I don’t burn through all my mana.”
Julia quickly told the group her plan. She would cast a concealing spell around them. The only issue it had was that it would fizzle out if someone not in the group flew into it.
While she still had everyone's attention. She pulled out the radiant weapons Johnny had made for her. She gave everyone four each for a pair and a back up pair. She explained if they ran into rift eaters. This was the most likely way they could die.
With no other options put on the table. Everyone got back on their mounts as Julia cast the spell. They all felt a tingling sensation as they got going.
They had managed to get past all the defenses with no issue as they made there way to their destination. The group was a mile from the city when a disaster struck. The concealment spell ended up failing as they collided with something that seemed to not be there. The group was expecting what happened next.
The lead dragon Yin was flying stopped when it struck a solid object. He was knocked back as his summon spiraled towards the city below. A loud thud could be heard that was followed by a loud explosion. The others scattered from the confusion diving in the same direction. Yin was able to regain control.
The collision of his dragon and barrier ended up revealing more than just them. The group was now exposed and looked up above them to see a mile long star ship that had seemed to come from out of nowhere. The starship was decked out with guns on the underbelly, the sides of the hull, and on the deck. The smaller guns immediately began to open fire on the group. As the ship materialized after the collision with Yin, small explosions could be heard on the ship.
The group wasn’t the only one to react. The city below had warning sirens going off.
Qin and Yin both had expressions of fear on their faces.
“What is that thing?” Julia asked trying to figure out what to do. She was frantically trying to cast her concealment spell again with no success.
“No time to explain Julia. We got company coming.” Qin said as she flew by Julia and pointed down.
Coming from below were multiple flying members of the Palasco faction. The group had another threat than just them. From above the star ship began to open fire on the ten of them. To make matters worse. Winged rift eaters joined in as well.
“Time to take evasive action, everyone.” Yin yelled as he dodged a beam of plasma.
