BOOK 2 - CHAPTER 10 - PLANNING AN ESCAPE OFF THE STARSHIP CERBERUS

CHAPTER - 10 PLANNING AN ESCAPE OFF THE STARSHIP CERBERUS

Back on the bridge just after the guns fired at Qin’s group…

“Unbelievable, how could you idiots not get a single one of them shot down. For all we know they could be calling for reinforcements now that we are uncovered. I can’t even believe the cloaking generator has been knocked out.” The captain yelled in rage.

The other crew on the bridge were getting nervous. When the captain got angry things tended to go poorly for everyone else. Not wanting to face the captain’s wrath later. One of the bridge officers had managed to pinpoint where they had landed on the ship. Hearing this the captain was still upset. At least they were pinned down from what he could tell.

The captain ordered his elite troops to go in after them. He was going to show them why the Cerberus was so feared if it was the last thing he did…

Back at the blown out gun turret…

“That is your plan?” Julia asked with concern.

“I don’t see you thinking of anything. Besides, I know this starship. If i’m lucky i might get to face the captain of this ship. He was the one who ultimately doomed our world. The Cerberus is nothing to laugh at.” Qin said.

She wanted to forget about the encounter; she had managed to lure the Captain’s experiments away onto a fleeing starship. Her diversion helped others manage to escape from their doomed world.

“You can’t fight him alone, Qin. You know the man is mad. He’ll just rope you into a fight. Then he can easily overtake you. When he is in his berserk state he is almost invisible to kill.” Replied Yin with a concerned voice.

“Besides, even if we were able to defeat him and knock out the stabilizers. A ship of this size without its stabilizers was to crash into the city below. The amount of destruction and death would be disastrous. You have to think of other consequences as well.” Yin replied, trying to educate Qin.

Qin sat there for a few taking in Yin’s words. The more she thought about the more Yin made since. Her plan would have been reckless indeed. Although she wanted revenge they needed to escape and get more help. As for knocking out the stabilizers, it wasn’t worth it to destroy the ship and cause thousands of civilians to lose their lives.

“You are right Yin. I was letting my emotions get the better of me. I’ll change my tactic so we can escape. I’d rather have the whole ship just crash and burn, but I don't want to think of innocent civilians dying because of my own greed.”

Her original plan was to take out the stabilizers. The ship had three sets in case any of the other two failed. Taking those out would cause the starship to crash. One was located near the bridge for easy access. The ship also had extra vital parts there as well.

Qin changed her plan to two different objectives. The new plan would be even more riskier. They would have to break off into two groups. From there the groups would split into two again.

The first would have them disable or destroy the main and secondary batteries on the main deck. They only needed to get out of firing range above them to escape. Sure they could knock out the bottom guns but the upper guns could still have a better chance at hitting them even below.

The top of the starship consisted of twelve primary batteries, twelve secondary batteries, and eight auxiliary batteries. The gun mounts could rise above each other to fire at targets. The main and secondaries were located on the bow and stern sections of the ship. Six were located on each end. The auxiliary batteries ran down the middle of the ship, four on each side. They protected the next objective of the mission.

The second was to hit the ship's hangar decks. For now all they needed to do was succeed in destroying or disabling the launching platforms. The ship had two main hangars that had two launching positions. It had various smaller flying vessels for scouting, attacking, raiding, and escape. They were located in the center sections of the ship.

The groups decided to make each end of the ship their take off point. The groups would either have Qin or the blue elite dragonoids create extra summons for the others to get away.

Qin quickly went over how each group would split up and with who and for what roles. While she spoke. Julia decided to ask something.

“What do we do if we encounter anyone who flees or surrenders?” Julia asked with a some concern. She wasn’t sure if any of the crew was being influenced by the loathing one in all of this. She hated to think of killing innocent people if they didn’t fight them.

“Just knock them out or subdue them. It is better to have them out of the fight to go get help.” Qin replied. Julia nodded with the agreement. It was better than killing at least.

Cleo and Lisa would be assigned to take out the connections to the batteries. Their stealth abilities would help them to get by to take out the main control terminals. If the guns couldn't be knocked into the next best thing was to have them overload and explode.

Qin decided her and Yin would take their attention to the hangar decks. They would work their dragon summons as decoys while the others knocked out the starcraft launching platforms.

It took some time to figure out who was going to go with who. Julia decided to assist Qin. Seeing how the attack went that forced them all onto the deck of the starship. She wanted to help protect her.

The groups split with Cleo, Qin, Julia, and two of the elite blue dragoniod guards. They would stay in the bow section for the plan. That left Lisa, Yin with the remaining three as their escorts. They would take apart the stern section for their escape.

With the plan in action the group headed for their designated targets. First, they had to deal with an issue that was outside the destroyed turret first.

The groups were stopped by multiple beams of lasers. Everyone scattered to hide behind something. Most of the laser fire was focused on Qin. The group was a little surprised to see humaniod rift eaters shooting at them.

“This may be more challenging than I thought.” Qin said to Julia who had ducked behind a corner with her.

Qin contacted Yin to help her take them down with her summons. The two unleashed two summons each as they dove at their attackers. These were much smaller and faster than their mounted companions.

They only could hear howls of pain as the laser fire lessened up when their summons reached the rift eaters. With a path more clear, Qin gave the order to continue to their targets. As they ran, the other dragoniods summoned a dragon summon of their own to help clear the way.

The groups broke off into their teams as they made their way into the ship.
