CHAPTER 17 - SABOTAGE

A while ago in the green dragoniod's chambers before everyone met at the portal.

The green elder stood in his room waiting for his ally to show up. He heard a silent knock on the door as he looked to see who it was. He was greeted by his ally asking them to let him in.

“About time you showed up.’ The elder said crossing his arms.

“Sorry, I needed to get away again. Funny how saying you need a bathroom break can get away.” The ally said.

“Anyways, all you need to do I plant this into the radiant fragments when no one is looking from what I have been told. You will need to find the opening to do it. Now off you go time is of the essence.” The green elder dragoniod handed his ally a dark orb as they left.

His ally met up with everyone watching the portal mage summoning the portal. They stood by bored watching everyone else waiting for the best moment.

They had to wait for everyone to leave before he made the move. The portal mage was talking to the dragoniod guards about something when they approached her. This was the distraction needed to plant the orb. The ally carelessly dropped the orb onto the pile of radiant fragments as he walked away unnoticed.

The reaction was slow. The radiant fragments fired off as everyone looked in surprise to see the portal beginning to change a dark purple color. The portal would only fade in and out.

The portal mage had a sheer look of terror on her face as she yelled at her guards to take up formation. As soon as they all did the portal mage heard screams from her guards as they fell.

Only one of her guards stood. He was holding some sort of black knife with an evil smile as he approached the portal mage. He slashed at her with the blade wounding her.

She backed away in terror as the dragoniod guards ran at him. He spun to fight them only to meet his demise.

Things only got worse as the fallen guards began to turn into rift eaters. The dragoniods weapons were useless against them as they attacked.

The portal mage figured she been poisoned with void essence. She couldn't let the portal fall now. She casted a barrier around herself and as she tried to stop the barrier from turning into a void portal.

She was successful in stopping the growth. The reaction caused the ground to horribly shake. The rift eaters caught wind of her as if in some trance to attack her.

She looked into their eyes with terror as sent out a message more help. She preyed someone would save her as the beasts closed in on her barrier.
