Chapter 26: Covenant of the Hellfire King

As Jin prepared to swing his sword at Shadow and initiate the first move in the epic duel, Shadow held up his hand to Jin. “Wait.” He then looked off to the North.

“Seriously? We didn’t even start yet and you’re already giving up.” Jin tried to antagonize Shadow, but Shadow’s gaze remained unbroken.

A few moments of silence passed, then Shadow looked at Jin. “We were right, the Incarnates have their full force in the country now. They’ve killed the Devil Elf Army and are moving towards the Devil Emperor’s Castle.”

Jin relinquished his sword. “How do you know, I thought you had to wait for the scouts to come back?”

Shadow had an upset look in his eyes. “Normally yes, but they were slain with a Celestial weapon by King. Their Spirits are gone, but my Void energy was returned to me, and I was able to see their last moments.”

“Screw the duel, I’ll be damned if that bastard kills the Devil Emperor or worse, the Devil Emperor kills the Incarnates before I get the chance!” Jin became filled with anger and his power radiated outward, cracking the ground under him. His blue glow doubles and small sparks of lightning began to Crack out from his body.

Shadow walked over and got onto a War Beast. “Then let’s get going but calm down first. I don’t need you electrocuting my Fallen into ash.”

Jin closed his eyes and took a couple deep breaths. The sparking subsided and his radiant blow glow returned to normal, he then hopped onto a War Beast.

Shadow and Jin rode their War Beasts at full speed and zoomed towards the Devil Emperor’s Fortress, Jin wouldn’t let the Incarnates beat them there.

They rode through the day and the night, traveling without rest. The sky began to change into a deep crimson and the energy around them became heavy with magical energy. Jin was reminded of the Devil realm when he awoke in that scarlet oasis for the first time.

Finally, the Devil Emperor’s domain was within their view.

It was the opposite of Shadow’s; the glow of red energy coated the ground and everything within their sights. The ground was cracked and separated with lava and fire shooting out.

“This place looks more like the Devil Realm than the actual Devil Realm.” Jin said as he looked around.

The heat wasn’t a problem for him or Shadow due to their Celestial Power, but for any normal person that entered they would soon become overwhelmed by the intense heat and collapse then eventually they would be boiled alive from the inside-out.

They slowed their pace as the Devil Emperor’s castle came into view. It was a ginormous Iron castle with lava pouring out from the walls. 8 guard towers circled the castle. On top of each was a massive dragon with obsidian scales and an orange glow coming from its throat.

Below the Dragons were a warped version of Giants that had charred grey skin and their veins glowed orange with fire shooting out from the cracks in his skin. Their beards were made of pure fire and their armor was in the style of ancient Vikings but made with gold metal and velvet cloth.

There were 3 Giants below each tower, and they were taking turns feeding the spikey horned black lava dragons handfuls of lava rocks.

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

The dragons crushed the rocks in their mouths and when they swallowed their throats glowed that much brighter with the essence of fire within them.

Along the walls that connected the towers there were Devils of all kinds and armed with an assortment of ranged weapons. Devil Elves with bows, Hellfire Orcs with Rifles, there were even more warped Devils on the wall. Those that even resembled Horn.

“I forgot about Horn!” Jin whisper shouted at Shadow.

“What? I thought he was killed in your fight with the Elf Emperor.” Shadow thought back to that day.

“No, I sent him back to the Devil Realm to gather up more Devils to rebel against the Devil Emperor.” Jin closed his eyes and tried to locate Horn’s energy in the Devil Realm.

Shadow looked back to the fortress, in the center was a large tower that overshadowed the rest of the castle. He could sense a great power within it, he knew that’s where the Devil Emperor had to be.

Shadow then looked at the massive hordes of Devils that circled the fortress. Despite having lost most of the Devil Elves, there still remained enough Devils that were triple the number of Fallen they had.

“Found him!” Jin reopened his eyes then started opening a portal.

“Let’s hope this isn’t a waste of time and he actually amassed a sizeable army, how long have you left him there?” Shadow asked.

“No clue, like I said I sent him there before my fight with the Elf Emperor and every day is a year there.”

Shadow face palmed. “Great, so it’s been like a decade for him. For all we know he doesn’t even remember us.”

Horn stepped through the portal and bowed to Jin. “Master.” Horn looked the same and still had the Celestial blade that Jin gave him.

“See! He does remember us.” Jin patted Horn on the shoulder. “So, how’d it go?”

Horn looked up and had a prideful expression on his Devilish face. “Can you create a bigger portal, Master.”

“I should be able to, how many need to come through?” Jin looked at Shadow who was watching Horn with suspicion.

“Approximately Five thousand.”

Jin and Shadow were at a loss for words. With that amount they were still outnumbered by the Devils, but now it was only by a small margin.

“Shadow, you mind helping me out with this?”

Shadow stood up and combined powers with Jin. They opened a massive portal, and their Devil Army began to pour out. There were golems, cyclops, Fire Devils, Hydro Devils, gargoyles, and many more Devil variants that stepped out from the portal.

When the last one came through, they closed the portal. Jin looked at Horn. “How were you able to get so many?”

Horn held out the Celestial weapon and showed it to Jin. “With this I was able to travel throughout the Devil realm and show them that we had not been forsaken by all other Gods and we could follow a less cruel leader. I formed the Covenant of the Hellfire King; all these Devils worship your power and benevolence.”

Jin looked at Shadow and laughed. “My army is bigger than yours.” He teased.

Shadow looked at Jin disapprovingly and held back his words, he knew that they needed more assistance to eradicate the Devil Emperor, but working with this many Devils made his skin crawl.

“Let’s prepare for battle then.” Shadow summoned the entirety of his Fallen Legion.

The Devil Emperor began to sense the arrival of the 2 great forces and telepathically issued orders to his army to prepare for battle.

Shadow, Jin, and Horn gathered for one last time before the battle and Shadow spoke his plan first.

“Horn, I will entrust you to lead the Covenant army and I believe Jin feels the same. You will draw out the ground forces. Meanwhile I willI send my Giants to engage with the Devil Lava Giants. Jin, you should focus on taking out the Dragons since you can fly. Then I will send my army to flank the ground forces while they’re distracted by our own Devil army.”

Jin ruffled his hair, the strategy sounded solid. “Where will you be?”

“Since I’m the best at moving undetected, I’ll work my way to the main tower and attack the Devil Emperor.”

“Without me?!” Jin was astonished that Shadow wanted to fight the Devil Emperor without him.

“Just until you kill the dragons, then you can come meet me. That is if I don’t kill him before you get there.” Shadow grinned.

“Fine, only because if you fought those dragons, it would take forever and who knows how many of our allies they’d kill while you ran around. But you’ll be damned if I miss my chance to punch the bastard in the face who started all this.”

Jin put his hands on the shoulders of his comrades. “Neither of you die on me.”

Horn and Shadow nodded, then they all prepared for battle.
