Chapter 12: Realm of the Eternal Storm

Jin stood on top of a beaten and bloodied Lightning Drake then stabbed it through the chest, the Drake let out a last pained roar before perishing and its blue glow faded away.

Its neon spirit then flowed into Jin, he stepped off the dragon and onto the stone ground around him. 30 dead Lightning Drakes laid around the rocky mountain top, all were bloodied and covered with slash marks from Jin’s sword.

Jin was unscathed and barely broke a sweat during the fight, his new power had begun to make him feel like a living God. He even felt like he looked like one now, after the 10th Drake Spirit he absorbed he started to have a faint blue glow of energy around his body and his eyes were now glowing blue with small sparks of lightning flickering within them. He wondered if the Hydra was going to be the last enemy he ever struggled against and quietly laughed to himself.

‘That’d be nice, but I think the incarnates are going to have some tricks up their sleeves.’

He opened his notebook and saw that there were 2 new entries.

Power of the Lightning King

As a slayer of the Mighty Lightning Drakes, you have absorbed their mighty energy and made their power your own. All spells shall now be imbued with the Lightning coursing through your spirit. The strength is amplified with the power of each Spirit retained within you.

*Unknown Power- The power of Lightning Energy reacts strongly with the Celestial energy and is binding with all other elements under your command that reside within you. Ascension required for further information. Celestial Energy required is 100%. Current Celestial Energy possessed 22%

‘Ascension required and what does this percentage mean? An unknown power to even the God of Knowledge too, I guess that explains this glow too. It must be a side effect to whatever is happening to me. Well, this will have to wait for now, I need to hurry up and find Shadow.’

Jin closed his eyes and prepared to return to Earth from wherever the hell this place was. But something different was happening, he could sense Shadow’s energy and it was not on Earth. He could sense that Shadow was in a different realm entirely.

This took more focus for him to try and reach, he couldn’t teleport there, so he focused on creating a portal instead. As he narrowed his mind to Shadow’s location, his dragon claw began to be covered in a blue energy and small sparks came from it.

He slashed into the air, and it was like he cut reality itself as a blue portal tore the air in front of him and made a blue portal that was shooting out lightning. When struck by the bolts it didn’t harm him and he instead absorbed it.

Jin stepped through the portal and into a world of giant trees surrounded by greenery. He looked around for Shadow but saw no one.

‘I was sure he was here, maybe I was off a bit.’

Then an unsettling realization came to him.

“Shit, I forgot to turn those dragons into gear!”

He turned around to go back through the portal, but it was gone. Then Jin felt someone tap his shoulder and turned around.

Shadow waived at him.

“Hey cool, I’m glad I found you but hold on.” Jin waived off Shadow and then closed his eyes.

Shadow gave him a look that said ‘Seriously, what the hell are you doing?’

Jin stood there with a scrunched look on his face like he was trying to keep from sneezing.

“Dammit, I can’t sense that place at all! Guess there goes all that potentially awesome gear.” Jin slumped his shoulders and Shadow patted his friend while wondering if Jin had finally lost his mind.

“Anyway, what have you been doing this whole time because there’s no way it was cooler than killing a bunch of Dragons.” Jin’s smug smile faded away instantly as Shadow pointed at the dead Titan behind him.

“You… you killed that.” Jin felt a mixture of jealousy and pride for his friend, but his face just showed complete disbelief.

Now Shadow had a smug look and pointed at Jin then gave him a thumbs down.

“What?! I could have totally killed that thing!”

Shadow put his hands on his stomach and feigned a laugh.

“You don’t believe me, fine next time we fight a monster like that he’s all mine.”

Shadow continued to feign a laugh then snapped his fingers summoning the Fallen Giants he still had.

You could see the blood leave Jin’s face as the Giants knelt to Shadow.

“You killed them too!”

Shadow held out 10 fingers.

“…. You killed 10 of these big bastards?”

Shadow scoffed and nodded at him.

“Whatever, if you could do it then there’s no way they’d be a match for me.”

Shadow nodded to the Berserker, and he swung the hilt of his axe at full speed into Jin.

Jin was sent flying into a tree and completely knocking it over. A cloud of dust covered where he landed.

Jin sat up and coughed, the hit had knocked the air out of him. With a pained expression he looked at Shadow. “Okay, you win. Those guys are strong, I’m impressed.”

Shadow shrugged. ‘I tried to tell you, but you’ve always been hardheaded.’

Jin fell backwards and started to heal himself with magic before catching his breath and hobbling back over to Shadow.

“Alright, let’s get out of here.”

Shadow pointed to the Giants corpse.

“Fuck, I almost did it again!” Jin face palmed.

Shadow rolled his eyes. ‘So that’s what you were talking about earlier.’

Jin walked over to the Giants body and tried to use the Goddess’s ability.

“It’s not working?” Jin exclaimed.

He tried again, but still nothing.

“Well, that is just awesome. Whatever, nothing we can do about it so let’s get going.”

Jin focused and opened a portal back to Earth.

But when he opened the portal, it turned from blue lightning into a black void.

“Well, that doesn’t seem good.” Jin looked at Shadow who shrugged.

“I guess you’re right, we can’t stay here.”

They entered the ominous portal and left the Giant Forest behind.
