12. The Thirteenth seat

12. The Thirteenth seat

Twelve beings sit around a table with thirteen seats. They shuffle somewhat nervously. “Why isn’t he here? He had his spells copied. He killed the demon lord by himself. So why isn’t he here?”

“Is there another requirement? Did he not hit level 500?”

The group pauses for a second before one of them says, “He didn’t… how did kill the demon lord.”

“It says here that he made a 4th tier spell that replicates our immortality.”

“What kinda downside did that have for it to be tier 4, not tier 6”

“Lots, just look at, the list it keeps going on and on. Over 100 downsides for it to work at tier 4.”

“We need him to be the one to fill the last seat then. All in favor of keeping the seat for him.”

Ten agreements could be heard around the table. All turn to the last one to speak, waiting for an answer.

“I can’t in good conscience let that monster ascend to our level. Did not read what he did, he wiped out over ten hub floors with one spell! Hundred of thousands of beings have died by his actions.”

“There was no way to know what would happen with a spreading curse. It was cast on a giant tribe, not a human settlement.”

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

“It’s not like most of us are better, especially you.”

“That was hundreds of years ago.”

“And his never happened now.”

“Fine, my vote is yes.”

I opened my eyes and looked around only to see a screen in my face.

[CHANGE COMPLEATE]

Then I feel it. The mana around me. It was similar to how it was when I make spells. I couldn’t be happier. If this was how it was before my bloodline awakened, what would it be when it was? With the ability to manipulate mana like this, making spells would be even easier. If I was a mage this would be the best as I could have manipulated my spells as they were cast. But I’m not so it’s just for making spells.

As I sit up, Tyler looks over with worry, “What happened? You just told me not to take you till the hospital then passed out for 10 minutes.”

“When I tried to tell you about {Pestilance} it triggered something. That something copied the spells I’ve made. Then I got some rewards for giving it the spells.”

“What kinda rewards did you get?” Tyler asks, now seeing I’m fine pulls back onto the road.

“It changed my bloodline?”

“Like your family or am I missing something.”

“Have they not hit floor 46 yet?”

“From what I’ve heard they just hit floor 43.”

“That makes sense, you can awaken a power the comes from your heritage or bloodline. You can also develop a new one, separate from your family instead. Oh ya, yours is a sixth sense that warns you of danger. It was pretty strong.”

“My old one boosted my mana, but my new one makes controlling mana way easier. How long till we are at the tower?”

“About 30 minutes, why?”

“I need to test some stuff.”
