As I shut the door to Tyler’s car, I swivel my head to stare at him. After a couple of uncomfortable seconds, I ask “Question, was inviting 3 new people to our team, in our plan for the day.”
“Well, it may have been included in ’hit the tower’ without me telling you,” Tyler says as innocently as possible.
“I’m going to curse you.”
“Come on, I promised them that if we could hunt some monsters together.”
“Ugh, why didn’t you tell me.”
“Well, I kinda knew you would be against it.”
“It’s too late now. At least tell me that we have a good comp.”
“Well, Jerry is a novice thief, Tom is a novice heavy warrior, and Sara is a novice mage.”
“So, barely passable comp. Are we going to fight the boss?”
“They really wanted to, but we don’t have to… but they really wanted to.”
“Fine but on the topic of telling secrets. I may have made some new curses last night.”
Tyler calmly pulls over onto the side of the road.
“Did you just say ‘make’ new curses?”
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Ya, they didn’t mention it today but you can make new skills. It has its downsides.”
“I recommend this class today for you, as you didn’t get to take the ones I did. Do you know what they said about making new skills in my classes?”
“It’s really hard?” I guessed.
“They said you couldn’t make one unless you had immeasurable talent or power.”
“On the topic of immeasurable talent and power, I have a confession to make.”
Tyler just stares at me, waiting.
“I may have already beaten the tower once.”
This is where Tyler exploded. “Ok, much as that would make sense given how you’ve acted differently since we first entered the tower. I’m going to need some proof.”
“Ok,” I say as I share the {Winner By Luck} title with him.
After a few minutes of staring at it, he asked me one question. “What happened?”
I told him everything I could remember, leaving out what exactly happened to me with the immortal curse. Tyler could probably notice that but if he did he let it slide. I told him about the tower, how after floor 50 was cleared, monsters started to pour out of the towers in waves. I told him of how he died. Of my climb to the top. Of the reward.
“After I cleared floor 100 I got to pick a reward. I chose to stop the monster waves and come back. I brought a skill back.”
“So, It’s not going to destroy humanity again?”
“Unless the tower lied, which it never has, we should be fine.”
Tyler started laughing, “So, after going through the entire tower. You want to do it again.”
“Pretty much, I was not in the best state of mind for the best parts.”
Tyler looked at me again, “There is one thing I need to know. How far did I make it before I died?”
“We had gotten to floor 36 before you took a vacation to see your family, the floor 50 monsters that came out annihilated everything.”
Tyler took this in for a moment. “Got anything you can teach me?” Tyler asks with some expectation.
“How would you feel about being a spell-blade?”
