Water splattered on his head with force. He jerked his eyes open, gasping for air as if his soul had been snatched from his body. “You didn’t have to do that!” Theia stated. Eleni simply shrugged, leaving the empty glass on the table. He looked at them both, puzzled. “Sorry, she doesn’t know how to wake up anyone,” Theia said as she handed him a couple of napkins.
“What happened? Did you get everything you needed?” Liam said as he wiped his face.
Theia showed him the Puntina, which was now swirling around her left index finger. Puntina was pulled out slowly, it grabbed a thin red thread that left his heart awfully slowly, along with his disturbing growls, after a painful pulling of the essence from his heart.
The Puntina eventually left his body, followed by the thread, which flew to her index finger and swirled around it while the thread swirled in the opposite direction. The white sheet that was once covering his face transformed into white floating petals and floated back to Eleni’s forearm.
“We only got a little, but it’ll be enough to feed the Camenae.” Theia gestured with her left hand. Liam simply nodded. “Are you okay?”
“I’m confused.” He responded truthfully. “I don’t know who she is, but it felt like a hyper-realistic déjà vu. It’s terrifying and fucking painful.”

“It indeed looked extremely painful and lengthy.” The CEO pointed to the clock behind them, which indicated that seven hours had passed while they attempted to extract his love essence.
“The essence didn’t really exist in your soul; what we did was literally pull out a marked stain in your soul’s core memory. The Puntina was looking for brief moments when both your souls were entwined.” Theia clarified.
“We could take more time to vouch for even more memories,” Eleni said with a smile, “but it could lead to your soul stuck in them.” The CEO was tense. “Imagine your physical body in excruciating pain and your soul trapped in a memory loop. Even if you have great memories, your physical senses will follow you and you will feel the exact pain but will be unable to escape it.”
The three men exchanged glances. “I don’t know why Cupid did it to your friend, but trust me, in our reality, we don’t go this far,” Rosalia stated. The CEO cleared his throat, and the men’s faces were filled with uneasy tension.
The color of the table quickly changed from clear to red-tinted glass. The CEO rose and bowed slightly in their direction. “I wish you luck, but your time has come to an end.” Eleni looked at it as the room shrank.
“Come one, Silla, there’s no need to be rude.” Eleni chuckled as she walked to the elevator with the girls. Words in Hangul appeared on the wall next to the closed elevator door, Annoying as usual Cupids. “Where is your voice, did the cat eat it?” Eleni chuckled again.
Theia returned her gaze to Liam, who had followed them. “You felt her, right?”
“It was odd, how real she felt, how my heart ached for her, and then it went back to nothing.” He said it in a hushed voice. Theia smiled at him sadly.
