Chapter Ten~4

The divines did, its shine raised and swallowed their hands into its blinding light. A mighty power any divine shall not possess rested inside the heart, the silhouette said. Their eyes widened as the blinding light took over their crystal eyes, changing them into their silver shine. Protect the universe… obey your destiny… to protect the heart.

The box was the heart of the angelic tree and their world. It showed them their destinies and their troops, and they also had the same inscribed marks on their balms. Their bodies glowed as well, and they got their roles to serve the universe.

Gabriela had the role of their head leader; she balances all. To keep every creature on track, to keep whatever quest had to be done, and forever protect the neutrality of their world. She was one of the few divines that could travel between all realities. She was the only one without troops.

All divines follow her lead.

Meika is the mercy leader to his troop and the rest of the divines, like all the six leaders, his destiny was to serve both divines and humans. Along with his troop, he taught humans good hospitality and good nature. They interact with them as a source of inspiration and instinct.

As for the rest of the divines who had to interact with humans for a long time, Meika and his troop would separate and destroy any human traits they might adapt.

Anki and her troop share the destiny of protecting nature along with every human reality. They were the only divines allowed to exist outside the divine world. Her troop is on every horizon that connects between their world and the humans.’ They could interact with humans at certain times in their lives as an animal or a human.

Like Anki, Osir and his troop existed most of the time outside the divine world, yet unlike Anki, Osir’s destiny was more complicated. He and his troop were to exist within all human realities. They guided and transported each human’s soul from their world to a realm where their souls face its judgment.

Osir and his troop would transport the soul to the Duat; another realm where it would be assigned to their next life. These divines are the least to interact with each other or with humans.

Harut and Mariat were the ones who had to interact the most with humans. Harut taught them magic and supernatural powers and to protect whatever destiny he and his troop must deliver to them.

Mariat kept the balance between all times and realities that exist in both worlds. Harut and Mariat both could interact directly with humans, but only when they must, none of them or their troops could stay in the humans’ universes longer than needed.

Gabriela removed her hood, and her eyes laid on the divine standing across the cloudy palace. She stopped next to him and said, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Osir looked at her and said, “I did not know it would go this far.”

“You already knew that something was not right. We have an oath, Osir, you should have told me.”

“Would change nothing, their world affected Harut from the beginning” — Osir walked into the cloudy palace followed by Gabriela. “Too invested in the human world. You must lock him, and the rest of the divines must know about what he did.” Gabriela sighed. Osir was right, what Harut did can’t be forgiven.

Gabriela followed Osir inside the cloudy palace. Their footsteps echoed when they walked. “Our oath was to protect the universes not to mess up our nature with theirs,” Osir said and looked at Gabriela.

She sighed and said, “What should we do now? We cannot let Harut get away with it, but we cannot let that future happen, we must stop it.”

“You want to meddle in their lives for what? To get their powers for yourself?”

“No! Never! This is our responsibility. It is our destiny to protect both worlds; ours and theirs,” Gabriela argued.

“You want to prevent them from getting their destiny. You want to change the course of nature because you think our people deserve it more than humans.”

Gabriela sighed loudly, and Osir was hard to argue with. He was the definition of neutral. He would never go beyond it, no matter what. “I will order for Harut’s trial now. I want you to join us.”

“I already told you my opinion,” Osir said and left Gabriela alone in the cloudy palace. “It must end with Harut.” His voice echoed far before he left the divine world.
