Christine awoke feeling disoriented, she slowly cracked her eyes open to dappled light. She saw light shining through leaves above her. Christine's waking mind took a few seconds for this to register. ‘What's happening,’ she thought, disoriented. Christine lifted her head from the ground. Confused on why she woke up outside, she said "what?” Well, that's what she tried to say, instead there came an animalistic hissing from her throat. Christine was confused about this strange noise coming from her. She tried to get up but wasn't up much at all before collapsing. Christine’s body felt weird. She tried again to get up but failed yet again.
Christine started panicking. Christine wondered in fear, ‘Am I sick or hurt and that is why I can’t get up?’ She tried to pay extra attention to how her body was feeling to see if she was harmed in some way.
Christine actually was feeling pretty good, contrary to her expectations. She twisted her head to look at herself and saw feathers. Christine squawked in shock, then paused, she had not meant to squawk. Christine had meant to yelp. She started hyperventilating slightly from panic. ‘Have I turned into a bird,’ Christine thought in horror. She screeched and clawed her face, before abruptly stopping this and thinking,’Wait, birds don’t have claws on their upper limbs which I appear to have, so I probably am not a bird. I do have feathers though, what am I?’ Christine slowly, little by little got up, balancing carefully so as not to fall over again. Standing on her feet she looked around. She was in a small flat grassy clearing surrounded by green luscious trees. She also tried to get a better look at herself. Christine, examining herself saw dappled brown feathers, a long tail, two arms with wicked looking claws, and long strong legs, also with claws, however one claw on each foot was a large sickle claw. Christine collapsed to the ground in shock. ‘Am I a dinosaur and a raptor type one at that?’ she wondered ‘what’s happening?’

Christine again stood up, this time standing up was easier than the first time. She started unsteadily walking forward on her clawed feet. ‘I guess I could practice walking to get used to being a raptor,’ she decided. Christine worked on her walking by going around the clearing several times, she was able to walk well after practicing for a while.
Christine paused and considered ‘I’ve been avoiding the thoughts, but how am I a raptor, where am I, and what should I do now? I’m not sure how to answer the first two questions in answer to the last one. I suppose I should explore the surrounding area for things I’ll need to survive since I appear to be far from any civilization.’ Christine walked into the thick forest to look for shelter, food, and water.
