~Kaiser’s~

(Tokoha's Fight - Vanguard G)

It’s so cool, Headmaster Ice thought it would be a good idea for us to take a week off training and go to this year's World Conference in support of Iris and her team. Even Ice came with us. After we returned from Driftveil we quickly went back to Mistralton City to fly out to Wydon City. We got to tour a bit of Galor, Kenta was happy and was taking as many pictures as he could. Carter wasn’t happy as soon as he heard we were going to Galar. Ignis and Ark went running together looking for food and plushies. Reuben was following and looking after Kenta. It left me with Drayden, Iris, and Ice.

“Kaiser, you’ll be the first to meet my teammates. You’ll be surprised as Drayden also put my team together,” Iris giggled as the stadium started to come into view.

“I remember four years ago when your team was formed. To think in this short amount of time you would be here,” Headmaster Ice started to reminisce.

“I was fourteen and a young Axew and now I’m the leader of Team: Beauties,” Iris was full of energy and it was hard to not be affected by it. Drayden didn’t say much, however, you could tell he was enjoying himself.

“Iris! There you are!” It was very high pitch. An Eevee started running our way and a Dragonite was close behind her.

“Chloe! Clair!” Iris cheered as they hugged. “It’s been so long!” Iris was happy and I was shocked, to say the least.

“Kaiser, to clear up what’s in your head. Once you obtain Master rank you are free to travel as you please with or without your team. Yet these three didn’t spend time apart. They traveled and trained together,” Drayden explained. “After some time they eventually completed their elite scavenger hunt and blasted through a Crystal qualifier earlier this year. Iris took a leave when I told her there were some promising applicants this year,” I understood the situation better.

“How rude of us not to introduce ourselves,” the Eevee looked at me. “I’m Chloe Cerise, seventeen and I’m from Vermillion City. My father is a Pokemon Professor and helps me with my journey,” she greeted me with a smile. “I’m also the team tactician,” She then nudged the Dragonite.

“I was waiting for you to finish,” she then sighed. “I’m Clair Black, nineteen and from Blackthorn City. My older brother is Lance and his team is also competing in the World Conference. I’m Iris’s cousin,” she looked as if she was studying me.

“Nice to meet you all as I’m Kaiser Luna of Team: Ragnarok,” I greeted sheepishly.

“He’s so cute!” Chloe cheered. “I’ve never met a Zorua like you before,” her eyes lit up.

“Chloe, calm down. Give the guy some room,” Clair scolded Chloe. “Actually, where are the rest of them? I thought Opelucid accepted two teams,” Clair looked around confused.

“They are out and about touring they will be back in time for your match,” Drayden sighed.

“You three shouldn’t worry about them as you have a match coming up,” Ice looked towards the main part of the city. It was bustling with life as today is the first round of the Crystal Conference.

“I agree, come on girls, we have a bit of time. Let’s talk strategy,” Iris then walked off with her teammates.

“Kaiser, you go look for the others. We’ll get our seats and call you when the tournament starts,” Drayden started to walk off with headmaster Ice. I guess this gives me time to explore. As I wandered into the shopping area I was intrigued since Galar fashion is different from Unova fashion. As I was looking through one of the glass I saw the reflection and a panicked Electrike was in the streets. He looked familiar so I turned around and walked towards them. They looked at me as if they recognized me.

“Kaiser! Is that you?” The dog talked fast and it reminded me of Gale.

“Gale, long time no see,” I smiled. However, my smile faded as he had a look of concern plastered on his face.

“I need your help, have you seen Carter?” That was odd of him to say.

“Not recently, but why are you looking for him?” I asked. As we were talking he was constantly looking around as if searching for someone. It was weird compared to when we first met, he was so giddy, happy, and friendly. Right now I feel like he is some agent. “Why are you here? Where’s the rest of your team?” I asked.

“We came on a special trip to see pros in action,” he answered with his tongue out. His silly demeanor returned but it didn’t stay long. “Follow me,” Gale grabbed my hand and led me further into the shopping area. We then passed by a Curry restaurant and Gale seemed to be looking through the window as if looking for someone. “He should be around here somewhere, Curry was his favorite food growing up. I then turned a corner which led to an alleyway and to my surprise Carter was in the alleyway with some other Pokemon who were dressed sharply, to say the least.

“Your father wants you to come home,” One of the sharply dressed Pokemon said. It sounded more like a demand than anything.

“Why? So he can just ignore me. Not like it will bring Vincent back to him,” Carter sounded irritated. “Or does he want to punish me like the last few times I attempted to escape,” Carter glared at the well-dressed men.

“I don’t see him,” Gale sighed. As he bumped into me I hushed him as I showed him what was going on.

“All he wants is the heirs to the Bark company to come back,” The other well-dressed man said this time.

“As if,” Carter scoffed. “Dad changed Rose’s Company for the worse even changing the name and the ideology. Why follow our father’s corrupt scheme?” Everything started to get tense. “How did you know I’d be here?” Carter turned as if he was going to walk away.

“Your father knew of your whereabouts after you joined a team in Opelucid, however, your brother is yet to be found,” The well-dressed men looked like they were about to snatch Carter.

“Let’s keep it that way and I don’t want to see him either,” Carter Growled. He was about to walk away but the well-dressed man then grabbed him by the wrist.

“Go!” I heard a shout but it wasn’t from the alleyway.

“Carter, cover your eyes,” Gale then ran into the alleyway and a bright light flashed. Even though I hid behind the building I still got blinded for a second. When I opened my eyes I was in the square again but it didn’t feel normal.

Wasn’t I hiding behind the building just a second ago? I started to walk around and there were no Pokemon in the area. How odd.

“I got more Pokemon in the illusion than I thought,” the voice sighed but it was familiar to me. “Guess I’m stronger than I thought,” the voice laughed. The area around me faded as I was now leaning against a shiny Zorua.

“Dexter?” I asked.

“Seems like the cute face remembers me,” Dex chuckled. Was this his attempt at flirting? “We have to keep running, my illusions weaken the farther away I am,” I then realized Dexter was caring for me while everyone was running. We then made it to where you could see the Ferris wheel across the water. Everyone was out of breath. Dexter, Gale, Carter, and I are a weird group if you ask me.

“I didn’t ask for your help,” Carter said between breaths. He sounded upset. Carter then turned towards me “You won’t mouth a word of this to anyone,” I could see tears in his eyes.

“Carter, I-” Gale was then cut off.

“Shut up!” he shouted but it sounded as if he was conflicted. Dexter turned his head as if he was staying out of the situation at hand. Carter was about to walk away when I got a message on my ORB. The screen revealed itself and it was a video message from Drayden.

“Where are you and Carter? I messaged you both a few times already.” Drayden then sighed. “The others are here, we’re in section D row eleven,” the message then cut out.

“I guess it’s time to go. Let’s go, Kaiser,” Carter walked away and I joined him, but he walked a bit in front of me. Probably to cover the fact he was holding back his tears.

“Before you go Kaiser wait!” Dexter ran up to me and opened his ORB screen. “Here have my contact information,” he then swiped his image and my ORB instantly got his info.

“Thanks,” I smiled. He then took me by surprise as he kissed me on the cheek and could feel my face get hot as I wasn’t sure what to do. How do I show I accept his affection? This is so embarrassing.

“Look at you all flustered, it’s cute. Run on, Carter will leave you behind,” I awkwardly nodded as I stumbled to follow Carter. That is the second time he did that. What happens if I don’t do it back? Will it make me seem not interested? Am I interested? I’m not sure. It feels good when I think of him, but I barely know him. Get these thoughts out of your head they are distracting you. I slapped both my cheeks to help me calm down. I focused on the walk ahead of Carter and me. It took a little bit to reach the stadium and for us to get through security.

By the time we reached our seats, we missed the team introductions but none were needed. Their stats were also on a giant screen hovering in the center of the stadium. Something then caught my eye: all the members of Team: Iron have only lost two matches individually and lost one match as a team. I wonder how that came to be as they are known as the legendary Team: Iron. Another thing that caught my eye was the age of the team members. The youngest Sonia was twenty, Raihan was twenty-two, and Leon was twenty-one. All of them are young to be two-time World Conference champions. This match was a team fight and I wanted to see how Iris’s team would fare against a team of champions. The fight opened explosively as Chloe had four red cards form a shield around her team while Sonia hurled two balls of electricity at Iris’s team.

“As much as she looks like a princess she must be strong to unleash two Electro Balls at once,” Drayden evaluated. After the Explosion, you could see Iris and Clair come out from the shield covered in a purple aura. Iris’s Ax jaw then glowed a light blue while Clair disappeared. Sonia did the same thing and disappeared while Leon’s claws glowed green. Leon dodged Iris’s attack and used his claws to drive her into the stadium floor.

“Can you see Clair and Sonia?” Headmaster Ice asked.

“I can, Sonia’s natural speed keeps up with Clair’s Extreme Speed but to combat the power Sonia’s using play rough,” Ark analyzed.

“Correct,” Drayden answered. I then turned to Chloe and Raihan. Raihan was unleashing Flash Canon and Dragon pulses on her. She was dodging the attacks but she was moving around enveloped in flames.

“Is there something special about Chloe? I don’t think that’s a move a normal Eevee should know,” Kenta was confused and so was I.

“Chloe is special as she can’t evolve yet she has access to moves of her evolutions. She turned those moves into her own. This one she calls, Sizzly Side,” Drayden answered. I looked back at Iris as she got up from being slammed down but didn’t seem upset as she started to stomp on the ground causing the whole stadium to shake.

“That’s smart as she missed with Guillotine a low accuracy K.O. move which improves the power of Stomping Tantrum,” Raihan and Sonia got affected. Their teamwork is amazing and on a higher scale than ours. Clair and Sonia’s bout came to a standstill as I could see them again. That’s when Clair punched the ground a bunch of jagged rocks appeared from the ground trapping Team: Iron. Iris’s team regrouped and got behind Chloe as a yellow aura flared around her.

“So it seems Chloe found that special power of hers after all,” Drayden sounded impressed.

“That’s the power of a Z-move,” I got excited as I remember reading about Z-moves in one of my books at the orphanage.

“That’s true. One thing you should know about them is certain Pokemon have special Z-moves and what Chloe is about to show is a special move only Eevee’s can use,” Ice explained. As Clair and Iris were behind Chloe a purple Aura flared around the two of them. Chloe then had eight balls of energy pour into her, it seemed to resemble each type she could evolve into. Her yellow aura then messed with Iris’s and Clair’s as it grew to an even bigger aura.

“An advanced tactic: Power Resonance,” both Kenta and Ark talked in unison.

“It’s good that you both know of it, that means less to teach,” Drayden seemed pleased. “Go on and explain,” Drayden continued.

“Power Resonance occurs when a team uses the same move to power up their stats like Work up or Swords Dance,” Ark started.

“If used with team members instead of a normal stat increase it can be doubled. So if all members use swords dance then that raises your attack four times instead of two,” Kenta went on further.

“Then why are they able to do it? Chloe is not using Dragon Dance,” Carter asked.

“This is their special resonance. Chloe is using her special Z-move Extreme Evoboost which is a normal type move that raises all stats by two. While Iris and Clair use Dragon Dance to increase Attack and Speed. Now Chloe is currently using a second move Baton pass so her teammates can gain the stat increase. With the Normal type being the most compatible type the dragon type move can easily resonate with the Normal type move,” Drayden explained.

“That means their Attack and Speed are at max, while every other stat is at four!” Ark was amazed.

“Don’t get excited though it takes a lot to master a tactic like this. Teams like Team: Iron can’t master this as their power-up moves are not of the same type or be fused with the Normal type,” Ice explained further.

I’m learning a lot today. I continued watching the match as Clair and Iris prepared to attack Team: Iron all at once. Iris’s axe jaw glowed pink and she started slicing at the air, while Clair got cloaked in the purple aura that formed a raging dragon. What happened next I wasn’t ready for. Raihan started to grow while cloaked in some weird red aura. He grew to be higher than the nosebleed section in the stadium. A four-layer shield then appeared in front of him.

“So that’s what a Max Guard looks like,” Reuben chimed in. So Reuben does pay attention during our lectures.

“Correct, it can guard almost any attack,” Kenta said. The power of Z-moves, Dynamax, and battle tactics. It’s amazing to see what we could do in the future as a team.

The two attacks came crashing into the shield and broke through the first three shields. Until the two got repelled backward at the last shield. Even with all the power they still couldn’t break that shield.

“Psycho Cut and Dragon Rush may not have been their best choices there. It cost them the match,” Ice sighed. How could he tell? That’s when I noticed Leon had changed forms two his scales were black and his flames were blue. His claws glowed green but this time they were dangerously bigger. He clawed at Clair and Iris while Sonia came to him tackling them both. The two then collided into Chloe where Raihan had a bunch of steel spikes appear and pierce into the three of them.

“Vitals are in! The winner of the first match of the first round in the World Conference is Team: Iron!” The referee announced. Everything turned to normal and I could see the three girls were disappointed to hear they lost but that was an amazing display that I could never match.

“Good on their part, I’m very proud of them,” Drayden got up from his seat. “It’s time for us to go. We’ll return to Unova without her and give her time with her team,” Drayden was making his way to the exit and the rest of us followed.

“Let’s not forget Team: Ragnarok has to challenge me next. It won’t be easy,” the ancient Ice dragon chuckled.

( XY Epic Episode Intro Outro Theme! - Speyere) A/N: ending for Arc 2

Today’s the day we fight Headmaster Ice, it’s been a week since we returned to Unova and he said he would be available for us to challenge him today. We got prepared in the locker room by putting on the gym uniform. It was a red shirt with black shorts. On the top left part of the shirt was ‘OC’ while on the bottom left of the pants was a picture of Kyurem. I wrapped bandages around my wrists and ankles to give myself extra support. My teammates were ready and we walked out together to face Headmaster Ice.

“Took you three long enough to get here. You know you shouldn’t keep an old dragon waiting,” he smirked at his joke.

“We’re ready when you are,” Ark sounded ready to go.

“This’ll be a breeze,” Ignis sounded full of himself.

“Which of us will go first?” I asked.

“Oh, you three have the wrong impression. This is a three versus one fight,” A chill crept throughout the whole battlefield. “I’d be amazed if only one of you could beat me, especially at your age,” he was joking but also making fun of us at the same time and for some reason I was uneasy. “Who knows you may win now or a few years from now but let’s find out,” Headmaster Ice’s wings then shattered showing that his wings were made of ice entirely. What scared me now was the fact that he had blasters on his wings. “I’m ready when you are,” he taunted.

Action: Headmaster Ice isn’t here to play games.

Kaiser: I was already scared of the headmaster. Did you have to make him so intimidating?

Reuben: That was the point.

Action: I hope you guys like how I’m doing power scaling in this book.

Dexter: Trash.

Silver: Be nice.

Action: No worries.

Carter: Don’t forget to fav, follow, and review.

Gale: We’ll see you next time.

Iris: bye!
