1.1 - Hit and Run

[It opens up at night, on the pavement next to a road just outside of a forest. It’s raining and the sky is blocked by the trees to keep it dark. A girl is walking along the street at night texting on her phone, mumbling to herself. She’s wearing a black hoodie and jeans, with a white shirt underneath it. She’s looking at the floor, not paying attention to the cars driving past and the surroundings. Behind her, the text messages start to appear once it’s received. It says the name of the texter above and the messages below it with occasional bad grammar and spelling mistakes. In this case, the name is “Sissel”. After each message, there’s a few seconds delay before the next is received.]

Sissel: [text only] Do you wanna talk tomorrow? It is late

Tracey: [text only] Its fine, I can talk a bit longer XD

Sissel: [text only] Better worded, I’m very tired XD

Tracey: [text only] Okay then XD

Sissel: [text only] So… are we talking tomorrow?

[Tracey pockets her phone just as she receives the text, not noticing it. She keeps walking, getting closer to the turn in the road. As she’s walking, she hears a rustling next to her. She glances very nonchalantly, not seeing anything when she looks. She keeps walking, then hears another rustle which she disregards. After a few seconds, a branch snaps which causes her to stop and quickly turn.]

Tracey: Hello?

[No response. She sighs and moves slightly closer to the forest. There’s a slow panning shot through the forest to show it, completely dark and nearly impossible to see anything. You can however see two individuals hidden in the shadows. One is shorter than the other, but both have rather pronounced rabbit-like ears at the top of their heads. Tracey pushes through the bushes slightly.]

Tracey: [annoyed] Right, I can see you! Who is that, is that Leigh? Chelsea? This is NOT funny, guys!

[Tracey moves and starts walking down the pavement again, a car going by. She sighs, mumbling to herself before hearing another rustling. She turns towards the noise, seeing the figures again. She groans and throws a stick at them.]

Tracey: [annoyed] This is not funny! Leave me alone!

[Tracey starts to walk again, taking out her phone to start texting Sissel. She starts typing, which appears behind her. The shot shows her facing the camera, with one of the figures coming out and following her in the background.]

Sissel: [text only] Still there?

Tracey: [text only] Yea, we can talk tomorrow. Sorry it took me a while, I th

[Tracey is abruptly stopped as the man runs up behind her and tries to grab her. They barely miss and Tracey immediately starts running with her phone in her hand. She keeps running down the street as the road starts to get busier with traffic. She keeps running, looking back at the figure although it isn’t seen by the audience. They continue running as a car is audibly coming closer while the space between her and the man is closing. As she makes it towards the end of the road, a gloved hand shoots out from the forest beside her. She screams and turns to bash the arm away. She hits the arm but starts to fall over into the road on her back. As she falls, a car drives towards her and her head ends up lining up with the headlight. The phone gets flung which is followed to the impact. The car can be heard braking before causing an impact. The phone receives another message which is only seen on the phone.]

Sissel: [text only] Hey...text me if you’re okay. It’s late, I wouldn’t want you to get hurt.
