Chapter 26: Finishing the fight

Jacob immediately allocated his available free points to his stats. If there ever was a time to use them it would be now, so to at least simulate some of what Aurelius could do he put 9 of his points into strength and the rest into dexterity. He ran forward with as much as speed and essence he could muster towards Flowing Water still stuck into a large piece of marble that was shaking in place.

The crowd resumed its cheering as the dust settles and marble was constantly dragged towards a single point, Jacob finally found what the marble was flying towards. It was a red and blue core rotating lazily in the middle as marble was attaching to it constantly.

Jacob could feel the renewed and upgraded power in each of his steps as he ran to Flowing Water, as the giant marble statue was rebuilding itself. Jacob weaved left and right dodging the pieces, heart pounding as all the exploded pieces of marble was flying back at high speed forming around the still exposed core pulsing red and blue as it continued to draw marble in.

Jacob reached his sword as marble was still flying in from all over and towards the increasing mass of marble, as he stepped onto the large piece of marble to pull Flowing Water out the shaking piece of marble finally vibrated out of the ground and flew towards the awaiting core covered in an already impressive amount of marble.

Jacob fell in front with his left shoulder narrowly missing the sharp edge of Flowing Water and sprawled onto the flying piece of marble and grabbed on to it as hard as he could with both hands hanging on for his life, this would be a good chance to end the giant marble statue if he got it right.

If not Jacob would soon be living peacefully devoid of movements as part of the giant marble collective, Aurelius meanwhile was staggering and limping slowly forward looking for anything he could do. However with broken ribs and from what he could feel was several torn muscles all around his body furiously trying to knit themselves together, fast movement anytime soon was not gonna be possible. Nevertheless, Aurelius kept himself moving towards the float giant marble sphere and a screaming Jacob desperately hugging onto a giant piece of marble as it hurtled through the air.

Jacob with his mouth definitely shut, let go of the hand closest to Flowing Water amidst the spinning marble piece. He grabbed onto his sword and tightened his grip till his knuckle's turned white, as the marble piece neared the core. Jacob let go of his other hand and felt a drop as he quickly moved the other hand towards Flowing Water too adding another grip and he got his legs up and braced it against the marble piece.

As the marble piece that Jacob was on was reaching the giant marble sphere, Jacob waited until the piece turned enough for Jacob to see the sky if he looked upwards. Immediately, as his vision brightened from the bright lights shining above. He surged large amount of essence into his legs, pushed himself off the marble piece and towards the giant marble sphere pulling Flowing Water out without an issue as he did, his face a picture perfect match for a child who was given the best present he ever wished.

Jacob shot through the air like an arrow from a bow, Flowing Water with both hands holding onto the handle tightly ready to plunge the sword down into an unwilling receptacle. He immediately dragged whatever essence remained in his core and his legs and sent them into Flowing Water. While Flowing Water did not churn as heavily as it did for Aurelius, Jacob had no other choice but to trust in himself.

The both of them would not be long for the world if he waited for the marble sphere to reform into the statue or worse some other enchanting yet dreadful visage. As he flew through the air, he desperately hoped that none of the marble pieces would knock him off his course. The crowd cheering grew into a fever pitch as the small boy sailed through the air sword gripped in both hands ready to stab it into the still growing marble sphere.

Jacob gathered all his strength and pulled Flowing Water downwards with his entire might backed into that single action. A massive grin was plastered onto his face as Flowing Water slid easily into the marble sphere, however would that be enough to destroy the sphere. The crowd hushed as they waited with bated breath for the ending after the sword slid into the sphere.

Jacob felt buckets of sweat pouring from his back as he hang there holding tightly onto the still furiously revolving Flowing Water, the lack of reaction from the sphere as seconds passed plunged his heart into despair. As he began to let go for Flowing Water to drop down and run for his life, cracks started to form along the surface of the marble where his sword was stabbed hilt deep into.

Moments as Jacob was letting go, the marble did its second massive explosion, this time with a confirmation that Jacob and the spectating Aurelius was immensely grateful for. A stream of red blue essence flowed into Jacob as he was blasted across the stadium not even giving him the time to scream as he had no air left in his lungs and as abruptly as the bright lights and crowd started so did it end, instantly disappearing with the explosion. Once again shrouding the stadium in disrepair, moonlight and silence. The only reminder that the intense battle happened, was the marble scattered all around the stadium and the heavy gasping of someone buried within the rubble.

Aurelius did not pay any heed to the bruises caused by the first explosion as it had already slowly reduced in swelling and pain, the second explosion did not even dealt out any meaningful damage to his body. His previously pristine clothes and body however was dotted and lined with dust, blood and grime. No longer a mysterious looking golden giant, he looked like a berserker limping back from hell as he made his way to where he saw Jacob landed and the sound of gasping lungs.

He knelt and dug through the rubble when he reached the pile of rubble hiding Jacob, slowly as the marble rubble part and with Jacob helping from the inside as he recovered from getting the air knocked out of him. Aurelius and Jacob got Jacob out from the rubble, a very grateful Jacob hugged Aurelius with obvious relief lined across his face. Aurelius returned Jacobs hug with a bear hug of his own ignoring the pain riveting throughout his body as Jacob was also ignoring his. Both were happy to be alive.

“You did well little boy, if this continue you might be a little man soon.” Aurelius quipped and Jacob gave a near instant reply after the word boy passed his ear.

“Call me saviour from now on, without me picking up after you failed to destroy that angelic asura amalgamation we would both be bloody pancakes now.”

“Without me to expose the core, you would definitely be a bloody pancake and I would be far far away.” Aurelius replied as broke the hug.

“With the marble statue defeated you might have gained a title and maybe we can find a reward chest somewhere.” As Aurelius finished his sentence, Jacob received the cold and detached voice in his mind once again.

As Jacob processed the announcement and the subsequent global announcement. Jacob looked once again at Aurelius and gave him the best innocent of all charges look Jacob could give all accompanied by a sheepish smile and the biggest eyes he could muster.

“So do I call you Michael Castus or Mister Jacob of Green Tea?” Aurelius gave Jacob the side eye as he spoke, each word was dragged out and punctuated with mirth.
