Chapter 2
The First Destination Part 2
I didn't hesitate to approach the woman holding the two crying children, wishing if I had some candy on me so I could give it to the children to stop their craving. Actually, I had some sweets in my bag, but I left it in the vehicle; at least, I would have taken my bag if I knew that I would be lost in a forest. At that moment, I remembered that I was carrying a backpack that I hadn't checked most of its content in so far, but there was a bottle of water. I took the water out and approached the woman, extending the bottle to her.
The woman didn't hesitate either and took water from me without saying anything, just nodding with her head, sipping a few mouthfuls, and then giving it to the
children one by one. The young boy was glancing at us, still focused on the rifle and binoculars, ready to shoot anything that moved in front of him. When they had enough water, the woman passed the water bottle to me and said, "Thanks." I took it and tried to pass it to the young boy, but without looking at me, he shook his head and said, "Thanks, I am fine."
I stored the water back in my backpack. The two ladies found the courage to approach us when nothing happened to me and stood behind me, not saying anything, just standing there. I was not standing but squatting. The young boy looked at the two women and said, "You better sit down. No one is there now, but their reinforcements will arrive at any moment and start shooting at us again." The woman looked at him and asked him,
"Did they go after him?" The boy nodded without saying anything and turned to us and asked me, "What are you doing here?"
That was a question I myself didn't have an answer to it, I didn't even know where here was, but I had to give him an answer or he would suspect us more, I believe he doesn't even trust us at the moment, so I said, "We are actually lost, we heard the gunshots and came to see if we could help, we thought people were shooting at beasts." The boy looked at me for a few seconds, apparently trying to figure out if I was lying or not, then he looked at the two ladies behind me, they both nodded their heads in agreement.

The young boy looked at the other girl, who didn't move from where she stood. She was close enough to see everything that was going on around her, but far enough away not to hear what we were saying. For some reason, I felt the need to tell him that she was with us, although I didn't want to be lying to him, and I didn't want him to suspect her or us at the same time. It's better to deal with it later, the lying, I mean, rather than create a misunderstanding about which we don't know the consequences.
Before I could open my mouth one of the ladies behind me I believe her name was Amun said "She is with us, we were looking for her also" we both looked at her and at the same time looked at the girl who ware standing like a statue in her place, although I knew what she said was not the truth and none of us knows the girl, I was sure that she didn't had anything to do with whatever was going here, and the only proof that I had was the backpack she was carrying, which was the exact same the ones the three of us was carrying, when I looked back at the boy I was not able to read his expressions, noticing that I was looking at him, he looked at me once more like he was waiting for my approval or details.
I nodded my head, and to prevent him from asking me anymore questions and diverting the whole issue, I asked him, "I don’t mean to meddle in your affairs, but can you tell us what is going on here?" I don’t know if what I was doing was not meddling, what was, but that was the only thing that came to my mind as a distraction. He kept looking at me without saying anything for a few seconds, it seemed to me like he was contemplating whether to tell me or not. He looked at all of us again, one by one, and said, "It's complicated." I was not expecting anything to begin with, so I turned to Amun and told her, "Can you go and bring her? I am sure she is shocked."
Amun nodded and went to bring the new girl, I was sure she would brief her about being together since she was the one who said that the girl was with us. While she was heading toward the girl, the boy went back to his position and looked through the rifle binoculars. After a few seconds looking through them, he looked at me and the woman who was still holding the two kids and said, "There are more armed men coming, I can't hold them all back." He then directed his speech towards me and asked, "Do you have weapons on you?" Suddenly the screen popped in front of me again, and this time the inventory was unlocked without me doing anything.
- Unlocked inventory
- Weapon available 3 set
1. 2 long swords, grade A
2. 2 long daggers, grade A
3. 2 Laser guns, one short range, and one long range.
Tap into the desired weapon; it will materialize and will be ready for your use.
Nothing was going to surprise me at that moment, from what I have seen so far, so I looked at the boy and said, "Yes, actually, I do have some weapons," though I don't know if I can figure out how to use any of them. Since I don't have any experience with using any kind of weapon (I didn't say the last part aloud), I knew I had to improvise and do my best to get out of this situation, but little did I know that this was the beginning of a long list of surprises.
