Epilogue:

If you’ve made it here, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Let me start by saying that “Epilogue” is clickbait. I don’t have any more of Calvin’s story to tell, but this feels like an epilogue as I feel that there is more to be said about the story that was told.

Type A, Type B is the third novel that I’ve finished, but it is the first one that I have ever published. Almost a year and a half ago, I learned about Royal Road, and thought it would be a good opportunity to get some of my writing out there. I debated whether I should publish something that I had already written, or if I should create something completely new.

As publishing was new to me, I decided to start with a blank page and an exercise. I would write, edit, and publish a new chapter everyday. I didn’t want to allow myself to doubt if what I had written was really worth reading, and instead force myself to flex my own storytelling ability by not allowing myself to storyboard or plan any of the novel in advance.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Each day, I would sit down, read what I had published the day before, and start working on the next chapter. The novel meandered, and went places that I never could have planned. Though the exercise grew harder as the novel grew in length. If there is no plan, no destination that I am writing towards, how do I know when the story should end?

My chapters began to get spaced out as I wrestled with how I would go about landing this plane. While I’ve always had a hard time writing endings, I actually wound up liking what I wrote. The last five chapters have taken me almost as long to write as the first thirty, but it felt necessary to put more thought into this section.Somewhere along the way, this exercise became a story that I am genuinely proud of.

As such, I want to give it the care it deserves(The Brotherhood to the Fullmetal Alchemist). This new version of Type A, Type B will take some time, but soon, it will be republished on my Substack page: Major Fixations (Link below). It's where I publish everything I’ve been working on, so if you enjoy my writing, make sure to subscribe!
