I rub my temples as I dial John Johnson's number. "Good morning, Mr. Johnson," I greet him with a hint of amusement.
"Ugh, it's two in the morning and school hasn't even started yet," he complains.
I chuckle nervously. "Yes, well, the students get a little more restless each year."
I hear him curse under his breath and I give him a moment to calm down.
"How many?" he asks, sounding more awake.
"Two dozen donuts and cookies, and make half of them sugar-free. Some of the police are watching their figure," I say in a friendly tone.
"Now you wait a minute-"
I hang up before he can finish. I look at the phone and take a sip of coffee, wondering if he will call back. I slowly back away from the phone and head for the bullhead that will take me to Vale.
...
"Thank you for your service, Mr. Johnson," I say as I walk out of the bakery that the school has on retainer. I put the boxes in the car and drive to the local police precinct. It's almost four in the morning now and Glynda is waiting outside.
As I enter, I hear a catcall and some applause. I smile and place the snacks on the counter. They are snatched up in an instant and a styrofoam cup of coffee is handed to me. When I opened Beacon Academy, I knew I would need a good relationship with the city police. Even though the school is isolated from the city, superpowers and hormones can only be contained so much. I just never expected how close the relationship would be.
Glynda rolls her eyes at the second catcall I receive, this time for the sugar-free donuts and cookies. I walk up to the sergeant. "Four students, Ozpin. The term hasn't even started," he grunts.
I keep a smile on my face. "Well, if the school had started, they would be inside our hallowed halls, learning to respect the laws and authority," I say with a cool smile. We stare at each other until he breaks into laughter and I join him with a soft chuckle.
"So, how much is this going to cost me, Sergeant?"
"Ha, straight to business. Look, I'm going to be serious. The little one that came in with lovely Ms. Glynda here," he says with a flirtatious smile before continuing in a serious tone, "saved the shopkeeper's life and almost apprehended Torchwick in a very violent citizen's arrest. Now, while this was pretty tame for one of your students, she's a bit young and most importantly not one of your students. Between child endangerment laws and the press, if something isn't done about her, she'll end up with more than a slap on the wrist."

I wince and nod for him to go on. "As for Ms. Yang, witnesses say she started a fight in the middle of an active club. Now, all employees of said establishment claim she tried to stop a gas explosion from a leak she was able to smell and I quote 'from possibly being a rare b$& - faunus' end quote. Now, between you and me, we both know it's a lie, but the club isn't huntsman insured. No one is. They want to get the insurance claim and mum's the word."
"Right then, I'll make a call to the inspectors and make sure everything runs smoothly. Is there anything else?"
"Yeah, a pair of twins came and turned themselves in. Wouldn't say how they were involved exactly, but with the guilt on their faces, I decided to throw them in the cells and release them in the morning."
I take a sip of coffee while I process that last piece of information. I walk over to the cookies I just brought in and grab one. "Thanks, Sergeant. We'll handle Ms. Rose first." Wrapping the cookie in a napkin, I smile as I walk toward where they're holding her. "I think this one will require a sweet touch," I joke as Glynda groans.

I pace back and forth in my cell, feeling a surge of panic as I realize the consequences of my actions. I sit down on the cot in the small cell and bury my face in my hands, feeling fear and uncertainty rising inside me.
"Don't look surprised. Turning yourselves in doesn't give you any red carpet-treatment. Into the cell...no, just one per cell." Click.
As the police officer walks away, I look up in surprise to see Jada and Jadan in neighboring cells across from me. I stumble out of the cot and grab the bars, pressing against them. Jada turns around with tears in her eyes and leans against the shared wall of her brother's cell. Jadan makes eye contact with me.
I stare back with regret in my own eyes and start to apologize, but he turns around and sits down, leaning against the wall toward his sister. I let go of the cell bars and grab some of my hair, sitting down and leaning against the bars.
"I fucked up. I don't remember my mom since she abandoned me and my dad while I was a baby, but I'll never forget the picture he used to have of her on his nightstand. They looked so happy and she…
I have long hair just like her, but with my dad's blond it's a perfect mix, just like me. I picked up my dad's fighting style and Uncle Qrow used to say I have my mom's aggression when I was younger.
I just...I need to know why me and my dad weren't enough for her. I don't need her in my life. I'd trade her to have Summer back any day of the week. I just get tunnel visioned and see red when it comes to her. I'm sorry." I say as tears begin to fall. I wrap my arms around my legs and bury my face into my knees as two hands touch both my shoulders. I look up and see Jada and Jadan both holding back tears next to Dad's friend .
"Well, , now that we have the heartfelt apologies out of the way, would you like a ride to your hotel? The first bullheads for Beacon Academy don't start to run until 10 am after all."
