*Jada
Yang doesn't bother with the line. She pushes her way into the club, leaving a trail of angry and confused people behind her. Jaden and I scramble to follow her, I quickly apologize to the bouncer on the floor before running after Yang.
I catch up with her and grab the back of her tan jacket, hoping to calm her down. She turns around and glares at me with her red eyes, making me flinch and step back. "Nevermind," I mutter, barely audible over the thumping music. Yang's expression softens slightly and her eyes return to their normal color, but she doesn't say anything.
She just walks away, heading towards the bar with a determined look on her face.
Jadan wraps an arm around me "She's pretending" he whispers. Looking again at Ember Celica, her old weapon in its bracelet form, on her wrist my stomach starts to twist into knots. I follow him to the bar, trying to avoid bumping into people who are dancing and having fun.
"We reach the bar and see Yang talking to a man in a suit. She's using a sickly sweet tone that doesn't suit her at all. "You can call me sir," she says, before grabbing him by his… I wince and look away, feeling sorry for the poor guy. Jaden looks shocked too.
"Maybe he's a bad guy who's also an informant" I whisper to Jadan as we watch everyone be escorted out and security starts to surround us.
"How about we just kiss and make up?" Yang says, still using that fake voice. As my stomach twists more, Yang suddenly punches the man in the face and sends him flying across the room, smashing through a pillar. The music stops and everyone gasps. Yang grabs us by our arms and pulls us towards her. We transform into our weapon forms and all hell breaks loose.
Bullets bounce off our bodies as we knock down guards left and right. Yang is unstoppable, I don't think they have their aura unlocked. She moves so fast that by the time the first guard she hit lands on the floor, she's already taken out ten more. As more people are flung around like rag dolls, the DJ in the floating booth pulls out a gun and fires at us. I watch in slow motion as Yang disarms him, beats him up, and throws his limp body to the ground. I flinch. As our souls unsync, I materialize next to her. "Yang, I-" I try to say, but I'm cut off by two new voices.
They look like twins, one wearing a white dress and the other a red one. They smirk at us and say, "Who is this?" "I don't know, Miltia, but we should teach her a lesson," one of them says. Yang looks away from me and flicks her wrist, activating Ember Celica on her right arm. As my stomach finds no more room to twist, I empty it onto the floor.

As Yang winces from soul rejection, Jaden materializes next to me, holding his head. "I don't have time for this," Yang growls before activating the other wrist and jumping off to fight the twins. Tears fill my eyes as I turn around and run, not slowing down as Jadan calls out for me.

*Jada
burst out of the back door of the club, feeling dizzy and nauseous. I bend over and gulp down the cool night air, trying to calm myself down. Behind me, the door slams open again and Jadan follows me out.
"That wasn't okay," I whisper to him.
"They were bad guys," he says weakly.
I turn around and glare at him. "Was the bouncer outside a bad guy? What crime did they commit to deserve that?" Jadan avoids my eyes and shoves his hands into his tan jacket pockets. He shrinks into himself.
"What do you want to do" he whispers
Looking up at the shattered moon in the sky I sigh. "We'll talk it out," I say. "Communication is important between partners." As I say that, the windows of the club explode and glass shards rain down on us. Jadan jumps in front of me and shields me with his body. Looking up at Jadan I see a couple of bleeding scratches from the glass on his face.
Jumping out of the building and acting like nothing happened Yang waves"Oh, there you guys are! You left the party-" she starts to say cheerfully.
"No! Let me speak!" I interrupt her.
Jadan nods at me. He trusts me to speak for both of us.
"You felt it, didn't you? They didn't have their aura unlocked," I say to Yang.
She frowns at me. "How was I supposed to know that? Maybe they shouldn't have gotten in my way then," she snaps.
"In your way? They were doing their job and you attacked them!" I snap back. "Bones," Jadan mumbles.
"Exactly! Every punch you threw broke something and you didn't even care! Tell us the truth - were they all really criminals?" I demand.
She laughs bitterly. "Ha! Oh, so now I'm the bad guy? In the middle of the fight you just stopped! You're supposed to be my weapon! You're supposed to have my back! I guess it's better I find out now that you're a coward than when I'm surrounded by enemies! Oh, wait!" she says scornfully.
I feel a pang in my chest as if she stabbed me. "We're not cowards for not wanting to do that!" I say pointing at the now burning club. "We trained so hard to be the best demon weapons possible - not to be thugs!" I wave at Ember Celica - the pair of gauntlets on her wrists. "And I know they're just things, but you're supposed to be our meister! You can't just replace us with those - they're just things!" I yell, out of breath.
"They're not things! Me and my sister made Ember Celica! They're not just things!" she yells back.
I feel Jadan tug on my sleeve. He's already turned around and started walking away. I look back at Yang and say, "Well, keep your things then." I turn around and walk away with my brother.
We don't need her. We don't need anyone. We only ever needed each other.
