5. Bandit Attack

As I moped about, upset, I heard the rustling of grass being walked on, making me go on guard. It would probably be fine if it was some sort of animal, but if it was an absurdly strong fantasy variant, I might be in danger.

I waited with baited breath, waiting whatever made the sound to show itself. A burly man in green walked into sight, followed by several others dressed similarly. He had a wide grin on his face.

Oh my goodness. There were humans in this world! I felt so relieved. What would I do if this was really a wild world with no humans?

Suddenly, I heard one of the men shout at me in an incomprehensible language. It might as well have been gibberish. I froze. Why didn't I expect that people from a different world would speak in a different language?

After continuing to shout for a bit, the group of people seemed frustrated. It was then when the burly man raised his hand as he said some words. A huge ball of fire around the size of a football condensed on his palm and flew towards a nearby tree, making the entire plant catch on fire. The rest of the group took out various weapons.

I was under attack! Were they bandits or something? I started to panic. I had to do something before they attacked me! They might be able to cast powerful spells, but in the end, they should still be normal fragile humans, right? Right?

Screw it! I decided to hit full throttle and charge towards him.

But instead of panicking like I expected him to, he had a grin on his face. He raised his hand and made some weird gestures with them.

I felt a huge shockwave course through my entire body, cracking my windows. A powerful force slammed into my front right after, instantly stopping my movement and denting my bumper. Pain coursed through me. If I could scream, I would definitely have been screaming in pain.

I glared at the burly man with his stupid smug face. Seeing the damage done to me, he laughed and said more gibberish. That bastard! He must be mocking me! Well, I wasn't going to let him have the satisfaction. I was going to attack again!

As I sped towards him for the second time, he had a look of complete shock on his face. I managed to crash into him, sending him flying.

He landed on the ground, bouncing hard a few times. He was covered in blood and appeared to have one of his arms broken along with a few ribs. Seeing the man get knocked down, the bandits yelled in fright. One of them threw his mace towards my windows, breaking through it and landing on the driver's seat.

Bastard! I tried my best to ignore the pain. Seeing the other bandit's example, another bandit threw a sword towards me. It hit a metallic part and bounced off, scratching my paint. Something clicked within me. The burly man must be the only one who could use magic! Why else would they throw weapons otherwise? I needed to take him out before he could cast another spell!

The mage mustered up the strength to look me in the headlights. He raised a hand weakly.

I sped up again towards the mage. The other bandits yelled in fear. With a horrible crunching sound, I ran over his torso with one of my wheels as he screamed. I saw the desperate and helpless look in his eyes as his life slowly faded away.

I was shaking all over from what I had done. By then, all the bandits had fled, except for one. He yelled an anguished cry as he charged over, jumping straight towards my shattered window and trying his best to climb through. The broken glass cut him badly, but he was still pushing his way through with his eyes closed to avoid getting cut by glass. Oh no! What was he trying to do?

He landed inside me, covered in blood. He looked around and seemed to be shocked from the lack of a driver. Before I could wonder what he was going to do, he picked up Radio and smashed it on the ground in anger. That bastard!

I tried to use my telekinesis to punch him in the face, but it was too weak to do more than push him slightly. He screamed and flailed his arms wildly, then reached for Tablet and picked it up, slamming it on the ground.

Well, I was a bit more fine with that. He raised his foot, preparing to stomp on Tablet when suddenly, it lit up.

"Insolent fool!" a loud voice boomed.

Tablet floated in the air, shining its bright light over the alarmed bandit. I was stunned. Tablet could talk and had powers the whole time?

The light grew brighter and brighter. The bandit screamed as it covered him, vapourising his entire body.

----------------------------------------

A group of delinquents were sitting on the roof of a random apartment building, using drugs.

"Pass me more of that, man." said one of them.

He was handed a joint by one of his friends. As he was about to light it, a strange man in green suddenly appeared before them. He squinted at the man, then seemed to have a realisation.

"Whoaaaaa! It's the weeeeed man!" he squealed.

The "weed man" seemed very confused. He kept touching his chest and looking at it, then checking his right arm, as if to check if they were fine. He looked around and seemed to get even more confused.

The man grabbed onto one of the boys, shouting something they didn't understand.

"Kid, tell me where I am right now!" yelled "weed man".

"Wow, weed man! I love you too!" the boy hugged him with a goofy smile.

Flustered, the man pushed him away. They spoke a different language? What a pain. How in the world did he even get into a place as strange as this? Was he dreaming or something?

No, that wasn't the case. The pain from being attacked by that machine was far too realistic. So how did he get here then? The man clutched his head, trying to figure things out.

Shortly, another man in green appeared. He seemed very agitated as he looked around.

"Boss!"

Hearing the familiar shout, "weed man" turned around.

"Bob?"

"Boss, what's going on?" asked Bob.

His face was full of confusion and despair. The boss was killed and he died trying to avenge his boss. But now, he was in a strange place with his boss? That must mean they were sent to the afterlife! All their friends were going to be left behind and become so lonely!

"I don't know! And can you stop calling me boss?" shouted the boss in annoyance.

"Sorry, b- I mean Alther!"

Bob quickly corrected himself, not wanting the bos- Alther to get angry. He never did get used to calling the boss by name as he secretly thought the name sounded a little weird.

"Anyway, tell me about what happened earlier! About the cargo machine!"

Alther's face was filled with worry and his body language screamed "nervous". Bob had never seen the cool, composed and confident boss so on edge before. He couldn't help but get influenced, becoming panicked.

"W-well I saw you die- so I got really angry and sad! So I tried to jump through the window to kill the driver! But there was no driver inside! It was like a ghost was driving it the whole time! And then-"

"What?" Alther seemed incredulous.

"-I decided to smash everything to scare the ghost out! Then a weird square thing attacked me and I felt like I was on fire! It hurt so much!"

After finishing up, tears started to streak from Bob's eyes. He couldn't help ith.

"Whoa whoa! Calm down there!" said Alther as he waved his hands frantically. "It's fine now!"

He didn't like to see his underling so upset. He still wanted more details on what happened, but he decided now wasn't the time for it.

"We'll find out what's going on and find our way back home! Isn't it actually a good thing that we didn't die for some reason?"

"But boss, aren't we in the afterlife?" wept Bob.

Alther froze for a moment. Then he burst out in hearty laughter.

"Bob, don't be ridiculous. People arrive in the afterlife with their souls, not with their bodies! The fact that we can still touch solid ground means we are still in the realm of living!"

Bob could be so silly sometimes. But perhaps he liked that somewhat.

"Come on, let's go. We'll find someone here that can speak Iyash, then find our way back home!"

Alther pat Bob's shoulder reassuringly and smiled. Feeling the kindness from his boss, Bob felt a lot better. Things weren't going to go wrong! And like the boss said, they weren't dead and could make it back home!

"Y-yess, boss!" Bob sniffled, wiping his snot and tears away on his sleeve.

"It's Alther! And don't be gross, get a handkerchief. I'll cast Glide and get us to the ground safely, alright?"

"Yes, bo- Alther!"

The two walked near the edge of the building as Alther prepared to cast a spell. Then, Bob saw a horrific sight. So many crazy machines that almost killed him and the boss down there! How were they going to survive if they went down?

"AAAAHHHHHH! BOOOOSSS! I DON'T WANT TO DIIIIEEEEEE!" he screamed.

"Bob! CALM DOWN!" shouted Alther.

Meanwhile, the druggies watched.

"Wow, weed men are weird!" said the one that tried to hug Alther.

"Yeah, weird as heck, man! Want some more weed?" asked his friend.

"Hell yeah, gimme more of that stuff."
